1Jacob appela ses fils, et dit: Assemblez-vous, et je vous annoncerai ce qui vous arrivera dans la suite des temps.
2Rassemblez-vous, et écoutez, fils de Jacob! Écoutez Israël, votre père!
3Ruben, toi, mon premier-né, Ma force et les prémices de ma vigueur, Supérieur en dignité et supérieur en puissance,
4Impétueux comme les eaux, tu n’auras pas la prééminence! Car tu es monté sur la couche de ton père, Tu as souillé ma couche en y montant.
5Siméon et Lévi sont frères; Leurs glaives sont des instruments de violence.
6Que mon âme n’entre point dans leur conciliabule, Que mon esprit ne s’unisse point à leur assemblée! Car, dans leur colère, ils ont tué des hommes, Et, dans leur méchanceté, ils ont coupé les jarrets des taureaux.
7Maudite soit leur colère, car elle est violente, Et leur fureur, car elle est cruelle! Je les séparerai dans Jacob, Et je les disperserai dans Israël.
8Juda, tu recevras les hommages de tes frères; Ta main sera sur la nuque de tes ennemis. Les fils de ton père se prosterneront devant toi.
9Juda est un jeune lion. Tu reviens du carnage, mon fils! Il ploie les genoux, il se couche comme un lion, Comme une lionne: qui le fera lever?
10Le sceptre ne s’éloignera point de Juda, Ni le bâton souverain d’entre ses pieds, Jusqu’à ce que vienne le Schilo, Et que les peuples lui obéissent.
11Il attache à la vigne son âne, Et au meilleur cep le petit de son ânesse; Il lave dans le vin son vêtement, Et dans le sang des raisins son manteau.
12Il a les yeux rouges de vin, Et les dents blanches de lait.
13Zabulon habitera sur la côte des mers, Il sera sur la côte des navires, Et sa limite s’étendra du côté de Sidon.
14Issacar est un âne robuste, Qui se couche dans les étables.
15Il voit que le lieu où il repose est agréable, Et que la contrée est magnifique; Et il courbe son épaule sous le fardeau, Il s’assujettit à un tribut.
16Dan jugera son peuple, Comme l’une des tribus d’Israël.
17Dan sera un serpent sur le chemin, Une vipère sur le sentier, Mordant les talons du cheval, Pour que le cavalier tombe à la renverse.
18J’espère en ton secours, ô Éternel!
19Gad sera assailli par des bandes armées, Mais il les assaillira et les poursuivra.
20Aser produit une nourriture excellente; Il fournira les mets délicats des rois.
21Nephthali est une biche en liberté; Il profère de belles paroles.
22Joseph est le rejeton d’un arbre fertile, Le rejeton d’un arbre fertile près d’une source; Les branches s’élèvent au-dessus de la muraille.
23Ils l’ont provoqué, ils ont lancé des traits; Les archers l’ont poursuivi de leur haine.
24Mais son arc est demeuré ferme, Et ses mains ont été fortifiées Par les mains du Puissant de Jacob: Il est ainsi devenu le berger, le rocher d’Israël.
25C’est l’œuvre du Dieu de ton père, qui t’aidera; C’est l’œuvre du Tout-Puissant, qui te bénira Des bénédictions des cieux en haut, Des bénédictions des eaux en bas, Des bénédictions des mamelles et du sein maternel.
26Les bénédictions de ton père s’élèvent Au-dessus des bénédictions de mes pères Jusqu’à la cime des collines éternelles: Qu’elles soient sur la tête de Joseph, Sur le sommet de la tête du prince de ses frères!
27Benjamin est un loup qui déchire; Le matin, il dévore la proie, Et le soir, il partage le butin.
28Ce sont là tous ceux qui forment les douze tribus d’Israël. Et c’est là ce que leur dit leur père, en les bénissant. Il les bénit, chacun selon sa bénédiction.
29Puis il leur donna cet ordre: Je vais être recueilli auprès de mon peuple; enterrez-moi avec mes pères, dans la caverne qui est au champ d’Éphron, le Héthien,
30dans la caverne du champ de Macpéla, vis-à-vis de Mamré, dans le pays de Canaan. C’est le champ qu’Abraham a acheté d’Éphron, le Héthien, comme propriété sépulcrale.
31Là on a enterré Abraham et Sara, sa femme; là on a enterré Isaac et Rebecca, sa femme; et là j’ai enterré Léa.
32Le champ et la caverne qui s’y trouve ont été achetés des fils de Heth.
33Lorsque Jacob eut achevé de donner ses ordres à ses fils, il retira ses pieds dans le lit, il expira, et fut recueilli auprès de son peuple.

1Y LLAMÓ Jacob á sus hijos, y dijo: Juntaos, y os declararé lo que os ha de acontecer en los postreros días.
2Juntaos y oid, hijos de Jacob; y escuchad á vuestro padre Israel.
3Rubén, tú eres mi primogénito, mi fortaleza, y el principio de mi vigor; principal en dignidad, principal en poder.
4Corriente como las aguas, no seas el principal; por cuanto subiste al lecho de tu padre: entonces te envileciste, subiendo á mi estrado.
5Simeón y Leví, hermanos: armas de iniquidad sus armas.
6En su secreto no entre mi alma, ni mi honra se junte en su compañía; que en su furor mataron varón, y en su voluntad arrancaron muro.
7Maldito su furor, que fué fiero; y su ira, que fué dura: yo los apartaré en Jacob, y los esparciré en Israel.
8Judá, alabarte han tus hermanos: tu mano en la cerviz de tus enemigos: los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán á ti.
9Cachorro de león Judá: de la presa subiste, hijo mío: encorvóse, echóse como león, así como león viejo; ¿quién lo despertará?
10No será quitado el cetro de Judá, y el legislador de entre sus piés, hasta que venga Shiloh; y á él se congregarán los pueblos.
11Atando á la vid su pollino, y á la cepa el hijo de su asna, lavó en el vino su vestido, y en la sangre de uvas su manto:
12Sus ojos bermejos del vino, y los dientes blancos de la leche.
13Zabulón en puertos de mar habitará, y será para puerto de navíos; y su término hasta Sidón.
14Issachâr, asno huesudo echado entre dos tercios:
15Y vió que el descanso era bueno, y que la tierra era deleitosa; y bajó su hombro para llevar, y sirvió en tributo.
16Dan juzgará á su pueblo, como una de las tribus de Israel.
17Será Dan serpiente junto al camino, cerasta junto á la senda, que muerde los talones de los caballos, y hace caer por detrás al cabalgador de ellos.
18Tu salud esperé, oh Jehová.
19Gad, ejército lo acometerá; mas él acometerá al fin.
20El pan de Aser será grueso, y él dará deleites al rey.
21Nephtalí, sierva dejada, que dará dichos hermosos.
22Ramo fructífero José, ramo fructífero junto á fuente, cuyos vástagos se extienden sobre el muro.
23Y causáronle amargura, y asaeteáronle, y aborreciéronle los archeros:
24Mas su arco quedó en fortaleza, y los brazos de sus manos se corroboraron por las manos del Fuerte de Jacob, (de allí el pastor, y la piedra de Israel,)
25Del Dios de tu padre, el cual te ayudará, y del Omnipotente, el cual te bendecirá con bendiciones de los cielos de arriba, con bendiciones del abismo que está abajo, con bendiciones del seno y de la matriz.
26Las bendiciones de tu padre fueron mayores que las bendiciones de mis progenitores: hasta el término de los collados eternos serán sobre la cabeza de José, y sobre la mollera del Nazareo de sus hermanos.
27Benjamín, lobo arrebatador: á la mañana comerá la presa, y á la tarde repartirá los despojos.
28Todos estos fueron las doce tribus de Israel: y esto fué lo que su padre les dijo, y bendíjolos; á cada uno por su bendición los bendijo.
29Mandóles luego, y díjoles: Yo voy á ser reunido con mi pueblo: sepultadme con mis padres en la cueva que está en el campo de Ephrón el Hetheo;
30En la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, que está delante de Mamre en la tierra de Canaán, la cual compró Abraham con el mismo campo de Ephrón el Hetheo, para heredad de sepultura.
31Allí sepultaron á Abraham y á Sara su mujer; allí sepultaron á Isaac y á Rebeca su mujer; allí también sepulté yo á Lea.
32La compra del campo y de la cueva que está en él, fué de los hijos de Heth.
33Y como acabó Jacob de dar órdenes á sus hijos, encogió sus pies en la cama, y espiró: y fué reunido con sus padres.

1And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
2Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
3Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
4Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
5Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
6O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
7Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
8Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.
9Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
13Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
14Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
16Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
18I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.
19Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
20Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
21Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
22Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
25Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
27Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
28All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
29And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
31There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
32The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
33And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

1Jacob called to his sons, and said: “Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which will happen to you in the days to come.
2Assemble yourselves, and hear, you sons of Jacob. Listen to Israel, your father.
3“Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, excelling in dignity, and excelling in power.
4Boiling over like water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father’s bed, then defiled it. He went up to my couch.
5“Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence.
6My soul, don’t come into their council. My glory, don’t be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self-will they hamstrung cattle.
7Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
8“Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down before you.
9Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?
10The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.

17Dan will be a serpent on the trail, an adder in the path, that bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.
18I have waited for your salvation, LORD.
19“A troop will press on Gad, but he will press on their heel.
20“Asher’s food will be rich. He will produce royal dainties.
21“Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.
22“Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.
23The archers have severely grieved him, shot at him, and persecuted him:
24But his bow remained strong. The arms of his hands were made strong, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel),
25even by the God of your father, who will help you, by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.
26The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my ancestors, above the boundaries of the ancient hills. They will be on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who is separated from his brothers.
27“Benjamin is a ravenous wolf. In the morning he will devour the prey. At evening he will divide the plunder.”
28All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them, and blessed them. He blessed everyone according to his own blessing.
29He instructed them, and said to them, “I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a burial place.
31There they buried Abraham and Sarah, his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah, his wife, and there I buried Leah:
32the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.”
33When Jacob finished charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, breathed his last breath, and was gathered to his people.
