1Jacob llamó a todos sus hijos, y les dijo: ―Reúnanse a mi alrededor, pues voy a decirles que les va a suceder en los días venideros.
2Óiganme, hijos de Jacob, escuchen a Israel su padre.
3»Rubén, tú eres mi hijo mayor, el hijo de mi vigorosa juventud. Eres el primero en rango y en dignidad,
4pero a partir de hoy, ya no serás el primero, porque me deshonraste al dormir con una de mis mujeres. Eres impetuoso como las fieras ondas del mar.
5»Simeón y Leví son hermanos; usan sus armas para matar con violencia.
6No quiero participar de sus planes malvados, ni estar en sus reuniones. En su ira asesinaron hombres y por diversión desjarretaron toros.
7¡Maldita sea su ira! ¡Maldita sea también su violencia y crueldad! Haré que sus descendientes sean esparcidos por todo el país de Israel.
8»Judá, tus hermanos te alabarán. Vencerás a tus enemigos. Los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán delante de ti.
9Judá es como un cachorro de león que se levanta después de comer a su presa. Se pone al acecho como un león o como una leona, ¿quién se atreverá a molestarlo?
10El cetro estará en las manos de Judá, y el bastón de gobernante estará en sus pies, hasta que llegue el rey por excelencia, a quien todos los pueblos obedecerán.
11Atará su burrito en la vid más selecta y lavará su ropa en vino.
12Sus ojos son más oscuros que el vino y sus dientes más blancos que la leche.
13»Zabulón habitará en las costas del mar, servirá de puerto para los navíos, y sus fronteras se extenderán hasta Sidón.
14»Isacar es fuerte bestia de carga que descansa entre las alforjas.
15Cuando vea la hermosura del paisaje, lo agradable de la tierra, con gusto agachará su hombro para la tarea y se convertirá en un esclavo.
16»Dan gobernará su pueblo como cualquier tribu de Israel.
17Será serpiente en el sendero, que muerde los talones del caballo para que caiga el jinete.
18»¡Señor, esperaré tu ayuda!
19»Un ejército atacará a Gad, pero él lo atacará por atrás.
20»Aser producirá manjares deliciosos que serán dignos del rey.
21»Neftalí es una gacela libre, que tendrá preciosas crías.
22»José es un árbol fructífero, es como un árbol junto a una fuente, y sus ramas pasan sobre el muro.
23Gente mala le causa amargura, lo atacan sin piedad y le lanzan flechas.
24Pero su arma se mantuvo firme, sus brazos fueron fortalecidos por el Dios poderoso de Jacob, por el que es el Pastor y la Roca de Israel.
25¡Que el Dios de tus padres, el Todopoderoso, te bendiga con bendiciones celestiales y con bendiciones del profundo mar, con bendiciones de los pechos y bendiciones de la matriz.
26Las bendiciones de tu padre son más grandes que las bendiciones de mis padres. Estas bendiciones reposarán sobre la cabeza de José hasta el fin de las montañas eternas, por cuanto él es el más importante de sus hermanos.
27»Benjamin es como un lobo feroz, que por la mañana devora a su presa, y al atardecer reparte lo que sobra».
28Estas fueron las bendiciones que Israel pronunció sobre sus doce hijos.
29Además les dijo: ―Ya voy a morir. Deben sepultarme con mis padres en la tierra de Canaán, en la cueva del campo de Macpela, frente a Mamré, el campo que Abraham le compró a Efrón el hitita, como propiedad para sepulturas.
30—
31Allí fueron sepultados Abraham y su esposa Sara. También fueron sepultados allí Isaac y su esposa Rebeca; y allí también sepulté a Lea.
32Es la cueva que mi abuelo Abraham les compró a los hijos de Het.
33Cuando Jacob terminó de dar estas instrucciones a sus hijos, se acostó nuevamente, exhaló su último suspiro, y murió.

1Y LLAMÓ Jacob á sus hijos, y dijo: Juntaos, y os declararé lo que os ha de acontecer en los postreros días.
2Juntaos y oid, hijos de Jacob; y escuchad á vuestro padre Israel.
3Rubén, tú eres mi primogénito, mi fortaleza, y el principio de mi vigor; principal en dignidad, principal en poder.
4Corriente como las aguas, no seas el principal; por cuanto subiste al lecho de tu padre: entonces te envileciste, subiendo á mi estrado.
5Simeón y Leví, hermanos: armas de iniquidad sus armas.
6En su secreto no entre mi alma, ni mi honra se junte en su compañía; que en su furor mataron varón, y en su voluntad arrancaron muro.
7Maldito su furor, que fué fiero; y su ira, que fué dura: yo los apartaré en Jacob, y los esparciré en Israel.
8Judá, alabarte han tus hermanos: tu mano en la cerviz de tus enemigos: los hijos de tu padre se inclinarán á ti.
9Cachorro de león Judá: de la presa subiste, hijo mío: encorvóse, echóse como león, así como león viejo; ¿quién lo despertará?
10No será quitado el cetro de Judá, y el legislador de entre sus piés, hasta que venga Shiloh; y á él se congregarán los pueblos.
11Atando á la vid su pollino, y á la cepa el hijo de su asna, lavó en el vino su vestido, y en la sangre de uvas su manto:
12Sus ojos bermejos del vino, y los dientes blancos de la leche.
13Zabulón en puertos de mar habitará, y será para puerto de navíos; y su término hasta Sidón.
14Issachâr, asno huesudo echado entre dos tercios:
15Y vió que el descanso era bueno, y que la tierra era deleitosa; y bajó su hombro para llevar, y sirvió en tributo.
16Dan juzgará á su pueblo, como una de las tribus de Israel.
17Será Dan serpiente junto al camino, cerasta junto á la senda, que muerde los talones de los caballos, y hace caer por detrás al cabalgador de ellos.
18Tu salud esperé, oh Jehová.
19Gad, ejército lo acometerá; mas él acometerá al fin.
20El pan de Aser será grueso, y él dará deleites al rey.
21Nephtalí, sierva dejada, que dará dichos hermosos.
22Ramo fructífero José, ramo fructífero junto á fuente, cuyos vástagos se extienden sobre el muro.
23Y causáronle amargura, y asaeteáronle, y aborreciéronle los archeros:
24Mas su arco quedó en fortaleza, y los brazos de sus manos se corroboraron por las manos del Fuerte de Jacob, (de allí el pastor, y la piedra de Israel,)
25Del Dios de tu padre, el cual te ayudará, y del Omnipotente, el cual te bendecirá con bendiciones de los cielos de arriba, con bendiciones del abismo que está abajo, con bendiciones del seno y de la matriz.
26Las bendiciones de tu padre fueron mayores que las bendiciones de mis progenitores: hasta el término de los collados eternos serán sobre la cabeza de José, y sobre la mollera del Nazareo de sus hermanos.
27Benjamín, lobo arrebatador: á la mañana comerá la presa, y á la tarde repartirá los despojos.
28Todos estos fueron las doce tribus de Israel: y esto fué lo que su padre les dijo, y bendíjolos; á cada uno por su bendición los bendijo.
29Mandóles luego, y díjoles: Yo voy á ser reunido con mi pueblo: sepultadme con mis padres en la cueva que está en el campo de Ephrón el Hetheo;
30En la cueva que está en el campo de Macpela, que está delante de Mamre en la tierra de Canaán, la cual compró Abraham con el mismo campo de Ephrón el Hetheo, para heredad de sepultura.
31Allí sepultaron á Abraham y á Sara su mujer; allí sepultaron á Isaac y á Rebeca su mujer; allí también sepulté yo á Lea.
32La compra del campo y de la cueva que está en él, fué de los hijos de Heth.
33Y como acabó Jacob de dar órdenes á sus hijos, encogió sus pies en la cama, y espiró: y fué reunido con sus padres.

1And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.
2Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
3Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
4Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.
5Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations.
6O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
7Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
8Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.
9Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
11Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
12His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
13Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he shall be for an haven of ships; and his border shall be unto Zidon.
14Issachar is a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
15And he saw that rest was good, and the land that it was pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
16Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
18I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.
19Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
20Out of Asher his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
21Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
22Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall:
23The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
25Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
26The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
27Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
28All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: and this is it that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
29And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
31There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
32The purchase of the field and of the cave that is therein was from the children of Heth.
33And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

1Jacob called to his sons, and said: “Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which will happen to you in the days to come.
2Assemble yourselves, and hear, you sons of Jacob. Listen to Israel, your father.
3“Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, excelling in dignity, and excelling in power.
4Boiling over like water, you shall not excel, because you went up to your father’s bed, then defiled it. He went up to my couch.
5“Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence.
6My soul, don’t come into their council. My glory, don’t be united to their assembly; for in their anger they killed men. In their self-will they hamstrung cattle.
7Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel. I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
8“Judah, your brothers will praise you. Your hand will be on the neck of your enemies. Your father’s sons will bow down before you.
9Judah is a lion’s cub. From the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down, he crouched as a lion, as a lioness. Who will rouse him up?
10The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. The obedience of the peoples will be to him.

15He saw a resting place, that it was good, the land, that it was pleasant. He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.
16“Dan will judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
17Dan will be a serpent on the trail, an adder in the path, that bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.
18I have waited for your salvation, LORD.
19“A troop will press on Gad, but he will press on their heel.
20“Asher’s food will be rich. He will produce royal dainties.
21“Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.
22“Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.
23The archers have severely grieved him, shot at him, and persecuted him:
24But his bow remained strong. The arms of his hands were made strong, by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, (from there is the shepherd, the stone of Israel),
25even by the God of your father, who will help you, by the Almighty, who will bless you, with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lies below, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb.
26The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of my ancestors, above the boundaries of the ancient hills. They will be on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who is separated from his brothers.
27“Benjamin is a ravenous wolf. In the morning he will devour the prey. At evening he will divide the plunder.”
28All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father spoke to them, and blessed them. He blessed everyone according to his own blessing.
29He instructed them, and said to them, “I am to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
30in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite as a burial place.
31There they buried Abraham and Sarah, his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah, his wife, and there I buried Leah:
32the field and the cave that is therein, which was purchased from the children of Heth.”
33When Jacob finished charging his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, breathed his last breath, and was gathered to his people.
