1Porque la ley, al ser solo una sombra de los bienes venideros, y no la verdadera imagen de esas cosas, nunca puede hacer que las personas que vienen al altar todos los años con las mismas ofrendas sean perfeccionados.
2Porque si esto hubiera sido posible, ¿no habría habido un final de esas ofrendas, porque los que hacían esas ofrendas, habrían sido completamente limpios y habrían dejado de ser conscientes de los pecados?
3Pero año tras año hay un recuerdo de pecados en esas ofrendas.
4Porque no es posible que la sangre de los bueyes y de las cabras quite los pecados.
5De modo que cuando Cristo entró al mundo, él dice: No deseabas ofrendas ni sacrificios, pero me has dado un cuerpo;
6No te agradaban las ofrendas, holocaustos y sacrificios para quitar el pecado.
7Entonces dije: Mira, he venido para hacer tu voluntad, oh Dios como está escrito de mí en el rollo del libro).
8Después de decir: No deseabas ofrendas, ni sacrificios, ni holocaustos, ni ofrendas por el pecado que son hechas por la ley y no te agradaron.
9Entonces dijo Él : He venido a hacer tu voluntad oh Dios, quita lo primero, los sacrificios antiguos, para establecer el nuevo pacto en su lugar.
10Dios nos ha santificado, por la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo de una vez y para siempre.
11Y cada sacerdote toma su lugar en el altar día tras día, haciendo lo necesario, y haciendo una y otra vez las mismas ofrendas que nunca pueden quitar los pecados.
12Pero cuando Jesús hizo un solo sacrificio por los pecados para siempre, y luego tomó su lugar a la diestra de Dios;
13Y ha estado esperando allí desde ese momento, hasta que todos los que están contra él sean reposapiés para sus pies.
14Porque con una sola ofrenda hizo perfectos para siempre a los santificados.
15Y el Espíritu Santo es un testigo para nosotros; porque después de haber dicho:
16Este es el pacto que haré con ellos después de aquellos días, dice el Señor; Pondré mis leyes en sus corazones, escribiendolas en sus mentes;
17Y no guardaré más memoria de sus pecados y de sus maldades.
18Ahora donde hay perdón de estos, no hay necesidad de más ofrenda por el pecado.
19Entonces, hermanos míos, pudiendo entrar en el lugar Santísimo sin temor, por la sangre de Jesús,
20Por el camino nuevo y vivo que nos abrió por el velo, es decir, su carne;
21Y teniendo un gran sacerdote sobre la casa de Dios,
22Entremos con corazones sinceros, en plena certeza de fe, teniendo nuestros corazones libres de mala conciencia, nuestros cuerpos lavados con agua pura :
23Mantengamos el testimonio de nuestra esperanza fuerte e inquebrantable, porque él es verdadero que ha dado su palabra:
24Y seamos moviéndonos unos a otros en todo momento para amar y buenas obras;
25No dejando de asistir a nuestras reuniones, como es el camino de algunos, sino manteniéndose fuertes unos a otros en la fe; y aún más porque ves que el día se acerca.
26Porque si hacemos lo malo a propósito después de haber tenido el conocimiento de lo que es verdad, no hay más sacrificios por los pecados,
27Sino solo un gran temor de ser juzgado, y del fuego de ira que será la destrucción de los enemigos de Dios.
28Un hombre que ha ido en contra de la ley de Moisés es condenado a muerte con la palabra de dos o tres testigos.
29Pues ¿no creen ustedes que mucho mayor castigo merecen los que pisotean al Hijo de Dios y desprecian su sangre, los que insultan al Espíritu del Dios que los ama ? Esa sangre es la que confirma el pacto, y con ella han sido santificados.
30Pues conocemos aquel que dice: Mía es la Venganza, yo daré el pago. Y otra vez, el Señor juzgará a su pueblo.
31Cosa horrenda ! es caer en las manos del Dios viviente!
32Pero piensa en los días después de haber visto la luz, cuando atravesaste una gran guerra de persecuciones y sufrimientos;
33En parte, al ser atacados e insultados públicamente ante los ojos de todos, y en parte, al unirse con aquellos que fueron atacados de esta manera.
34Porque tenías piedad de los que estaban en la cárcel, y les alegraba la pérdida de su propiedad, sabiendo que todavía tenían una mejor propiedad en el cielo y que permanece para siempre.
35Así que no pierdan su confianza, que será muy recompensada.
36Ustedes necesitan tener fortaleza en él sufrimiento, Porque, habiendo hecho lo que es recto a los ojos de Dios, y recibir así lo que él ha prometido.
37La escritura dice : En muy poco tiempo, el que viene vendrá; él no será lento.
38Pero el hombre Justo vivirá por su fe; y si se vuelve atrás, mi alma no tendrá placer en él.
39Pero no somos de los que vuelven atrás y van a su condenación; sino los que alcanzan la salvación del alma porque tienen fe.

1PORQUE la ley, teniendo la sombra de los bienes venideros, no la imagen misma de las cosas, nunca puede, por los mismos sacrificios que ofrecen continuamente cada año, hacer perfectos á los que se allegan.
2De otra manera cesarían de ofrecerse; porque los que tributan este culto, limpios de una vez, no tendrían más conciencia de pecado.
3Empero en estos sacrificios cada año se hace conmemoración de los pecados.
4Porque la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos no puede quitar los pecados.
5Por lo cual, entrando en el mundo, dice: Sacrificio y presente no quisiste; mas me apropiaste cuerpo:
6Holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no te agradaron.
7Entonces dije: Heme aquí (en la cabecera del libro está escrito de mí) para que haga, oh Dios, tu voluntad.
8Diciendo arriba: Sacrificio y presente, y holocaustos y expiaciones por el pecado no quisiste, ni te agradaron, (las cuales cosas se ofrecen según la ley,)
9Entonces dijo: Heme aquí para que haga, oh Dios, tu voluntad. Quita lo primero, para establecer lo postrero.
10En la cual voluntad somos santificados por la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo hecha una sola vez.
11Así que, todo sacerdote se presenta cada día ministrando y ofreciendo muchas veces los mismos sacrificios, que nunca pueden quitar los pecados:
12Pero éste, habiendo ofrecido por los pecados un solo sacrificio para siempre, está sentado á la diestra de Dios,
13Esperando lo que resta, hasta que sus enemigos sean puestos por estrado de sus pies.
14Porque con una sola ofrenda hizo perfectos para siempre á los santificados.
15Y atestíguanos lo mismo el Espíritu Santo; que después que dijo:
16Y este es el pacto que haré con ellos después de aquellos días, dice el Señor: Daré mis leyes en sus corazones, y en sus almas las escribiré;
17Añade: Y nunca más me acordaré de sus pecados é iniquidades.
18Pues donde hay remisión de éstos, no hay más ofrenda por pecado.
19Así que, hermanos, teniendo libertad para entrar en el santuario por la sangre de Jesucristo,
20Por el camino que él nos consagró nuevo y vivo, por el velo, esto es, por su carne;
21Y teniendo un gran sacerdote sobre la casa de Dios,
22Lleguémonos con corazón verdadero, en plena certidumbre de fe, purificados los corazones de mala conciencia, y lavados los cuerpos con agua limpia.
23Mantengamos firme la profesión de nuestra fe sin fluctuar; que fiel es el que prometió:
24Y considerémonos los unos á los otros para provocarnos al amor y á las buenas obras;
25No dejando nuestra congregación, como algunos tienen por costumbre, mas exhortándonos; y tanto más, cuanto veis que aquel día se acerca.
26Porque si pecáremos voluntariamente después de haber recibido el conocimiento de la verdad, ya no queda sacrificio por el pecado.
27Sino una horrenda esperanza de juicio, y hervor de fuego que ha de devorar á los adversarios.
28El que menospreciare la ley de Moisés, por el testimonio de dos ó de tres testigos muere sin ninguna misericordia:
29¿Cuánto pensáis que será más digno de mayor castigo, el que hollare al Hijo de Dios, y tuviere por inmunda la sangre del testamento, en la cual fué santificado, é hiciere afrenta al Espíritu de gracia?
30Sabemos quién es el que dijo: Mía es la venganza, yo daré el pago, dice el Señor. Y otra vez: El Señor juzgará su pueblo.
31Horrenda cosa es caer en las manos del Dios vivo.
32Empero traed á la memoria los días pasados, en los cuales, después de haber sido iluminados, sufristeis gran combate de aflicciones:
33Por una parte, ciertamente, con vituperios y tribulaciones fuisteis hechos espectáculo; y por otra parte hechos compañeros de los que estaban en tal estado.
34Porque de mis prisiones también os resentisteis conmigo, y el robo de vuestros bienes padecisteis con gozo, conociendo que tenéis en vosotros una mejor sustancia en los cielos, y que permanece.
35No perdáis pues vuestra confianza, que tiene grande remuneración de galardón:
36Porque la paciencia os es necesaria; para que, habiendo hecho la voluntad de Dios, obtengáis la promesa.
37Porque aun un poquito, y el que ha de venir vendrá, y no tardará.
38Ahora el justo vivirá por fe; mas si se retirare, no agradará á mi alma.
39Pero nosotros no somos tales que nos retiremos para perdición, sino fieles para ganancia del alma.

1For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
8Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
18Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21And having an high priest over the house of God;
22Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
33Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
34For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
35Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
36For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
World English Bible
1For the law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near.
2Or else wouldn’t they have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins?
3But in those sacrifices there is a yearly reminder of sins.
4For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.
5Therefore when he comes into the world, he says, “You didn’t desire sacrifice and offering, but you prepared a body for me.
6You had no pleasure in whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin.
7Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come (in the scroll of the book it is written of me) to do your will, O God.’”
8Previously saying, “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them” (those which are offered according to the law),
9then he has said, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,
10by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and offering often the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins,
12but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God,
13from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet.
14For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,
16“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,” says the Lord, “I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;” then he says,
17“I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more.”
18Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
19Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,
20by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh,
21and having a great priest over God’s house,
22let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and having our body washed with pure water,
23let’s hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.
24Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works,
25not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
26For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,
27but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.
28A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.
29How much worse punishment do you think he will be judged worthy of who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
30For we know him who said, “Vengeance belongs to me. I will repay,” says the Lord. Again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings:
33partly, being exposed to both reproaches and oppressions, and partly, becoming partakers with those who were treated so.
34For you both had compassion on me in my chains and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and an enduring one in the heavens.
35Therefore don’t throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.
36For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
37“In a very little while, he who comes will come and will not wait.
38But the righteous one will live by faith. If he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.”
39But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.
