Portanto nós também, posto que estamos rodeados por uma tão grande nuvem de testemunhas, deixemos toda sobrecarga, e o pecado envolvente, e corramos com paciência a corrida que nos está proposta,

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

olhando para Jesus, Autor e aperfeiçoador da fé. Ele, pela alegria que lhe estava proposta, suportou a cruz, desprezando a humilhação, e se assentou à direita do trono de Deus.
Puestos los ojos en al autor y consumador de la fe, en Jesús; el cual, habiéndole sido propuesto gozo, sufrió la cruz, menospreciando la vergüenza, y sentóse á la diestra del trono de Dios.
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Considerai, pois, aquele que suportou tal hostilidade dos pecadores contra si mesmo, para que não fiqueis exaustos, nem vossas almas se debilitem.
Reducid pues á vuestro pensamiento á aquel que sufrió tal contradicción de pecadores contra sí mismo, porque no os fatiguéis en vuestros ánimos desmayando.
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Que aun no habéis resistido hasta la sangre, combatiendo contra el pecado:
Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

mas já vos esquecestes do encorajamento que ele fala convosco como a filhos: Meu filho, não desprezes a disciplina do Senhor, nem te canses de ser reprendido por ele;
Y estáis ya olvidados de la exhortación que como con hijos habla con vosotros, diciendo: Hijo mío, no menosprecies el castigo del Señor, ni desmayes cuando eres de él reprendido.
And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
You have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with children, “My son, don’t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are reproved by him;
pois o Senhor disciplina a quem ama, e açoita a todo filho a quem recebe.
Porque el Señor al que ama castiga, y azota á cualquiera que recibe por hijo.
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives.”
É para a disciplina que suportais. Deus vos trata como filhos; pois que filho há a quem o pai não discipline?
Si sufrís el castigo, Dios se os presenta como á hijos; porque ¿qué hijo es aquel á quien el padre no castiga?
If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
It is for discipline that you endure. God deals with you as with children, for what son is there whom his father doesn’t discipline?
Mas se estais sem disciplina, da qual todos são feitos participantes, sois então ilegítimos, e não filhos.
Mas si estáis fuera del castigo, del cual todos han sido hechos participantes, luego sois bastardos, y no hijos.
But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
But if you are without discipline, of which all have been made partakers, then you are illegitimate, and not children.
Além disso, tivemos os pais de nossa carne como disciplinadores, e nós os respeitávamos. Por acaso não nos sujeitaremos muito mais ao Pai dos espíritos, a fim de vivermos?
Por otra parte, tuvimos por castigadores á los padres de nuestra carne, y los reverenciábamos, ¿por qué no obedeceremos mucho mejor al Padre de los espíritus, y viviremos?
Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

Pois eles nos disciplinavam, por um pouco de tempo, como bem lhes parecia; mas Deus nos disciplina para proveito nosso ,a fim de sermos participantes da sua santidade.
Y aquéllos, á la verdad, por pocos días nos castigaban como á ellos les parecía, mas éste para lo que nos es provechoso, para que recibamos su santificación.
For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

De fato, enquanto presente, nenhuma disciplina parece ser motivo de alegria, mas sim de sofrimento; mas depois produz fruto pacífico de justiça aos que por ela foram exercitados.
Es verdad que ningún castigo al presente parece ser causa de gozo, sino de tristeza; mas después da fruto apacible de justicia á los que en él son ejercitados.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
All chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Portanto, levantai as mãos cansadas e os joelhos frouxos,
Por lo cual alzad las manos caídas y las rodillas paralizadas;
Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
Therefore lift up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees,
e “fazei caminhos retos para os vossos pés”, para que o que está manco não se desloque, mas sim, que sare.
Y haced derechos pasos á vuestros pies, porque lo que es cojo no salga fuera de camino, antes sea sanado.
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
and make straight paths for your feet, so what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.
Buscai a paz com todos, e a santificação, sem a qual ninguém verá o Senhor.
Seguid la paz con todos, y la santidad, sin la cual nadie verá al Señor:
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Follow after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord,
Vigiai com empenho para que ninguém perca de receber da graça de Deus; para não acontecer que alguma raiz de amargura brote, seja incômoda, e muitos sejam contaminados por ela.
Mirando bien que ninguno se aparte de la gracia de Dios, que ninguna raíz de amargura brotando os impida, y por ella muchos sean contaminados;
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and many be defiled by it,
Ninguém seja pecador sexual, ou profano como Esaú, que por uma refeição vendeu o seu direito de primogenitura.
Que ninguno sea fornicario, ó profano, como Esaú, que por una vianda vendió su primogenitura.
Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
lest there be any sexually immoral person or profane person, like Esau, who sold his birthright for one meal.
Pois vós sabeis que depois, quando ele quis herdar a benção, foi rejeitado, porque não achou lugar para arrependimento, ainda que com lágrimas o tenha buscado.

For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
For you know that even when he afterward desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for a change of mind though he sought it diligently with tears.
Porque não chegastes a algo palpável, aceso com fogo, e à escuridão, às trevas, e à tempestade;
Porque no os habéis llegado al monte que se podía tocar, y al fuego encendido, y al turbión, y á la oscuridad, y á la tempestad,
For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,
For you have not come to a mountain that might be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness, darkness, storm,
ao som da trombeta, e à voz das palavras, que os que a ouviam, rogaram que não mais se lhes falasse palavra alguma;
Y al sonido de la trompeta, y á la voz de las palabras, la cual los que la oyeron rogaron que no se les hablase más;
And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

(pois não podiam suportar o que lhes era ordenado: Se até um animal tocar o monte, seja apedrejado.
Porque no podían tolerar lo que se mandaba: Si bestia tocare al monte, será apedreada, ó pasada con dardo.
(For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
for they could not stand that which was commanded, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned”.
E a visão era tão terrível, que Moisés disse: Estou assombrado e tremendo).

Mas vós chegastes ao monte Sião, à cidade do Deus vivo, a Jerusalém celestial, e aos muitos milhares de anjos,

e a Jesus, o Mediador de um Novo Testamento, e ao sangue da aspersão, que fala melhor coisa que o de Abel.

Tende o cuidado de não rejeitardes ao que fala. Pois, se não escaparam aqueles que rejeitaram ao que os advertia divinamente na terra, muito menos nós, se nos desviarmos daquele que nos adverte dos Céus.
Mirad que no desechéis al que habla. Porque si aquellos no escaparon que desecharon al que hablaba en la tierra, mucho menos nosotros, si desecháramos al que habla de los cielos.
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
See that you don’t refuse him who speaks. For if they didn’t escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,
A voz dele fez a terra tremer naquela ocasião, mas agora prometeu, dizendo: Ainda uma vez farei tremer não somente a terra, mas também o Céu.
La voz del cual entonces conmovió la tierra; mas ahora ha denunciado, diciendo: Aun una vez, y yo conmoveré no solamente la tierra, mas aun el cielo.
Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

Esta expressão ,“Ainda uma vez”, mostra a remoção das coisas abaladas, como coisas criadas, para que as inabaláveis permaneçam.

And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
This phrase, “Yet once more” signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
Por isso, já que recebemos um Reino inabalável, mantenhamos a graça, e por ela sirvamos a Deus de maneira que o agrade, com devoção e temor,
Así que, tomando el reino inmóvil, retengamos la gracia por la cual sirvamos á Dios agradándole con temor y reverencia;
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

pois o nosso Deus é um fogo consumidor.
