1Portanto, temamos para que, havendo ainda a promessa de entrar no seu descanso, não pareça que algum de vocês tenha falhado em alcançá-la.
2Pois a nós também foram pregadas as boas-novas, assim como a eles; mas a palavra que ouviram não lhes trouxe proveito, porque não foi unida à fé por aqueles que a ouviram.
3Pois nós, os que cremos, entramos naquele descanso, assim como ele disse: “Como jurei na minha ira, eles não entrarão no meu descanso;” embora as obras estivessem concluídas desde a fundação do mundo.
4Pois em algum lugar ele falou assim sobre o sétimo dia: “Deus descansou no sétimo dia de todas as suas obras;”
5e novamente neste lugar: “Eles não entrarão no meu descanso.”
6Visto, portanto, que resta que alguns entrem nele, e que aqueles a quem anteriormente foram pregadas as boas-novas não entraram por causa da desobediência,
7ele novamente determina um certo dia, “hoje”, dizendo por meio de Davi, depois de tanto tempo (como já foi dito), “Hoje, se vocês ouvirem a sua voz, não endureçam os seus corações.”
8Pois, se Josué lhes tivesse dado descanso, ele não teria falado posteriormente a respeito de outro dia.
9Resta, portanto, um descanso sabático para o povo de Deus.
10Pois aquele que entrou no seu descanso, ele mesmo também descansou das suas obras, assim como Deus descansou das suas.
11Esforcemo-nos, portanto, para entrar naquele descanso, para que ninguém caia seguindo o mesmo exemplo de desobediência.
12Pois a palavra de Deus é viva e eficaz, e mais afiada do que qualquer espada de dois gumes, penetrando até a divisão de alma e espírito, de juntas e medulas, e é apta para discernir os pensamentos e intenções do coração.
13Não há criatura alguma escondida da sua vista, mas todas as coisas estão nuas e expostas aos olhos daquele a quem devemos prestar contas.
14Tendo, pois, um grande sumo sacerdote que passou pelos céus, Jesus, o Filho de Deus, apeguemo-nos firmemente à nossa confissão.
15Pois não temos um sumo sacerdote que não possa se compadecer das nossas fraquezas, mas um que foi tentado em todas as coisas à nossa semelhança, contudo, sem pecado.
16Acheguemo-nos, portanto, com confiança ao trono da graça, para que recebamos misericórdia e encontremos graça para socorro em tempo de necessidade.

1TEMAMOS, pues, que quedando aún la promesa de entrar en su reposo, parezca alguno de vosotros haberse apartado.
2Porque también á nosotros se nos ha evangelizado como á ellos; mas no les aprovechó el oir la palabra á los que la oyeron sin mezclar fe.
3Empero entramos en el reposo los que hemos creído, de la manera que dijo: Como juré en mi ira, no entrarán en mi reposo: aun acabadas las obras desde el principio del mundo.
4Porque en un cierto lugar dijo así del séptimo día: Y reposó Dios de todas sus obras en el séptimo día.
5Y otra vez aquí: No entrarán en mi reposo.
6Así que, pues que resta que algunos han de entrar en él, y aquellos á quienes primero fué anunciado no entraron por causa de desobediencia,
7Determina otra vez un cierto día, diciendo por David: Hoy, después de tanto tiempo; como está dicho: Si oyereis su voz hoy, no endurezcáis vuestros corazones.
8Porque si Josué les hubiera dado el reposo, no hablaría después de otro día.
9Por tanto, queda un reposo para el pueblo de Dios.
10Porque el que ha entrado en su reposo, también él ha reposado de sus obras, como Dios de las suyas.
11Procuremos pues de entrar en aquel reposo; que ninguno caiga en semejante ejemplo de desobediencia.
12Porque la palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más penetrante que toda espada de dos filos: y que alcanza hasta partir el alma, y aun el espíritu, y las coyunturas y tuétanos, y discierne los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón.
13Y no hay cosa criada que no sea manifiesta en su presencia; antes todas las cosas están desnudas y abiertas á los ojos de aquel á quien tenemos que dar cuenta.
14Por tanto, teniendo un gran Pontífice, que penetró los cielos, Jesús el Hijo de Dios, retengamos nuestra profesión.
15Porque no tenemos un Pontífice que no se pueda compadecer de nuestras flaquezas; mas tentado en todo según nuestra semejanza, pero sin pecado.
16Lleguémonos pues confiadamente al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia, y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro.

1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

1Let’s fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.
2For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard didn’t profit them, because it wasn’t mixed with faith by those who heard.
3For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, “As I swore in my wrath, they will not enter into my rest;” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4For he has said this somewhere about the seventh day, “God rested on the seventh day from all his works;”
5and in this place again, “They will not enter into my rest.”
6Seeing therefore it remains that some should enter into it, and they to whom the good news was preached before failed to enter in because of disobedience,
7he again defines a certain day, “today”, saying through David so long a time afterward (just as has been said), “Today if you will hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts.”
8For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.
9There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.
10For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.
11Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.
12For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.
14Having then a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let’s hold tightly to our confession.
15For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.
16Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.
