Considerando sua promessa de entrarmos no lugar de descanso, ninguém deve pensar que essa promessa falhou.
TEMAMOS, pues, que quedando aún la promesa de entrar en su reposo, parezca alguno de vosotros haberse apartado.
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Let’s fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into his rest.
Porque essa maravilhosa notícia de que Deus deseja nos salvar foi-nos dada tal como foi àqueles que viveram no tempo de Moisés. Entretanto, de nada lhes valeu, porque eles não creram nela.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Pois somente nós, os que cremos, podemos entrar no seu lugar de descanso. Deus afirmou: “Jurei na minha ira que aqueles que não creem em mim nunca entrarão no meu descanso”, apesar de suas obras estarem concluídas e, assim, seu descanso já ter sido inaugurado desde a criação do mundo.
Empero entramos en el reposo los que hemos creído, de la manera que dijo: Como juré en mi ira, no entrarán en mi reposo: aun acabadas las obras desde el principio del mundo.
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Nós sabemos que ele está preparado e esperando porque está escrito que Deus descansou no sétimo dia da criação, depois que terminou tudo quanto tinha planejado fazer.

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

Mesmo assim eles não entraram, pois Deus finalmente disse: “Eles nunca entrarão no meu descanso”.
Y otra vez aquí: No entrarán en mi reposo.
And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Entretanto, a promessa continua, e alguns entraram naquele descanso; mas não aqueles que tiveram a primeira oportunidade, pois desobedeceram a Deus e não conseguiram entrar.
Así que, pues que resta que algunos han de entrar en él, y aquellos á quienes primero fué anunciado no entraron por causa de desobediencia,
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Mas ele fixou outra ocasião para que possam entrar, e esta ocasião é hoje. Ele anunciou isso por meio do rei Davi, muitos anos depois do primeiro fracasso do homem na tentativa de entrar, dizendo nas palavras já citadas: “Hoje, se ouvirem a sua voz, não endureçam seus corações”.
Determina otra vez un cierto día, diciendo por David: Hoy, después de tanto tiempo; como está dicho: Si oyereis su voz hoy, no endurezcáis vuestros corazones.

Este novo lugar de descanso acerca do qual ele está falando não quer dizer a terra de Israel, para a qual Josué os conduziu. Se Deus quisesse dizer isso, não teria falado muito depois a respeito de “hoje” como a ocasião para entrar.
Porque si Josué les hubiera dado el reposo, no hablaría después de otro día.
For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

Portanto, há um descanso completo e perfeito para o povo de Deus.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Porque todo aquele que entra no descanso de Deus também vai descansar de todas as suas obras, assim como Deus descansou após a criação.

Façamos o melhor que pudermos para entrar também naquele lugar de descanso, tomando cuidado para não cair, seguindo aquele exemplo de desobediência.
Procuremos pues de entrar en aquel reposo; que ninguno caiga en semejante ejemplo de desobediencia.
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.
Pois a palavra de Deus é viva e poderosa e mais cortante do que uma espada afiada dos dois lados, que penetra fundo a ponto de separar alma e espírito, juntas e medulas, pensamentos e desejos do coração, mostrando-nos como somos na realidade.

Não há nada que se possa esconder de Deus. Cada coisa a respeito de nós está descoberta e escancarada aos olhos penetrantes do nosso Deus vivente; nada pode se esconder dele, a quem devemos prestar contas de tudo o que fizemos.
Y no hay cosa criada que no sea manifiesta en su presencia; antes todas las cosas están desnudas y abiertas á los ojos de aquel á quien tenemos que dar cuenta.

Esse nosso sumo sacerdote compreende as nossas fraquezas, visto que ele passou pelas mesmas tentações que nós passamos, ainda que ele nunca tenha cedido a elas nem pecado.
Porque no tenemos un Pontífice que no se pueda compadecer de nuestras flaquezas; mas tentado en todo según nuestra semejanza, pero sin pecado.

Portanto, vamos ousadamente até o próprio trono de Deus e permaneçamos lá para recebermos a sua misericórdia e acharmos a sua graça para nos ajudar em tempos de necessidade.
Lleguémonos pues confiadamente al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia, y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.
