Ce Melchisédech, roi de Salem, prêtre du Dieu très-haut. — qui vint au devant d'Abraham à son retour de la défaite des rois, le bénit,

PORQUE este Melchîsedec, rey de Salem, sacerdote del Dios Altísimo, el cual salió á recibir á Abraham que volvía de la derrota de los reyes, y le bendijo,

For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of God Most High, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

et à qui Abraham donna la dîme de tout le butin, — qui est d'abord, selon la signification de son nom, roi de justice, ensuite roi de Salem, c'est-à-dire, roi de paix,

Al cual asimismo dió Abraham los diezmos de todo, primeramente él se interpreta Rey de justicia; y luego también Rey de Salem, que es, Rey de paz;

To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;

to whom also Abraham divided a tenth part of all (being first, by interpretation, “king of righteousness”, and then also “king of Salem”, which means “king of peace”,

— qui est sans père, sans mère, sans généalogie, qui n'a ni commencement de jours, ni fin de vie, — et qui est ainsi devenu semblable au Fils de Dieu : ce Melchisédech demeure prêtre pour toujours.

Sin padre, sin madre, sin linaje; que ni tiene principio de días, ni fin de vida, mas hecho semejante al Hijo de Dios, permanece sacerdote para siempre.

Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God), remains a priest continually.

Considérez combien est grand celui à qui Abraham, le patriarche, donna une dîme sur ce qu'il y avait de meilleur.

Mirad pues cuán grande fué éste, al cual aun Abraham el patriarca dió diezmos de los despojos.

Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

Now consider how great this man was, to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth out of the best plunder.

Ceux des fils de Lévi qui obtiennent le sacerdoce ont, d'après la Loi, l'ordre de lever la dîme sur le peuple, c'est-à-dire sur leurs frères, qui cependant sont sortis eux aussi du sang d'Abraham ;

Y ciertamente los que de los hijos de Leví toman el sacerdocio, tienen mandamiento de tomar del pueblo los diezmos según la ley, es á saber, de sus hermanos aunque también hayan salido de los lomos de Abraham.

And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes from the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,

et lui, qui n'était pas issu de leur race, a levé la dîme sur Abraham, et il a béni celui qui avait les promesses.

Mas aquél cuya genealogía no es contada de ellos, tomó de Abraham los diezmos, y bendijo al que tenía las promesas.

But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.

Or, sans contredit, c'est l'inférieur qui est béni par le supérieur.

Y sin contradicción alguna, lo que es menos es bendecido de lo que es más.

And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.

En outre, ici, ceux qui perçoivent les dîmes sont des hommes qui meurent ; mais là, c'est un homme dont il est attesté qu'il est vivant.

Y aquí ciertamente los hombres mortales toman los diezmos: mas allí, aquel del cual está dado testimonio que vive.

And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

Here people who die receive tithes, but there one receives tithes of whom it is testified that he lives.

Et Lévi même, qui perçoit la dîme, l'a payée, pour ainsi dire, en la personne d'Abraham ;

Y, por decirlo así, en Abraham fué diezmado también Leví, que recibe los diezmos;

And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,

car il était encore dans son aïeul, lorsque Melchisédech alla à sa rencontre.

Porque aun estaba en los lomos de su padre cuando Melchîsedec le salió al encuentro.

For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

for he was yet in the body of his father when Melchizedek met him.

Si donc la perfection avait pu être réalisée par le sacerdoce lévitique, — car c'est sous lui que le peuple reçut la loi, — quelle nécessité y avait-il qu'il surgît un autre prêtre " selon l'ordre de Melchisédech ", et non selon l'ordre d'Aaron ?

Si pues la perfección era por el sacerdocio Levítico (porque debajo de él recibió el pueblo la ley) ¿qué necesidad había aún de que se levantase otro sacerdote según el orden de Melchîsedec, y que no fuese llamado según el orden de Aarón?

If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Car, le sacerdoce étant changé, il est nécessaire que la Loi le soit aussi.

Pues mudado el sacerdocio, necesario es que se haga también mudanza de la ley.

For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

For the priesthood being changed, there is of necessity a change made also in the law.

En effet, celui de qui ces paroles sont dites appartient à une autre tribu, dont aucun membre n'a servi à l'autel :

Porque aquel del cual esto se dice, de otra tribu es, de la cual nadie asistió al altar.

For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

For he of whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.

il est notoire en effet que notre Seigneur est sorti de Juda, tribu à laquelle Moïse n'a jamais attribué le sacerdoce.

Porque notorio es que el Señor nuestro nació de la tribu de Judá, sobre cuya tribu nada habló Moisés tocante al sacerdocio.

For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

For it is evident that our Lord has sprung out of Judah, about which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

Cela devient plus évident encore, s'il surgit un autre prêtre à la ressemblance de Melchisédech,

Y aun más manifiesto es, si á semejanza de Melchîsedec se levanta otro sacerdote,

And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,

This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,

institué, non d'après les prescriptions d'une loi charnelle, mais selon la puissance d'une vie qui ne finit point,

El cual no es hecho conforme á la ley del mandamiento carnal, sino según la virtud de vida indisoluble;

Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life;

selon ce témoignage : " Tu es prêtre pour toujours selon l'ordre de Melchisédech. "

Pues se da testimonio de él: Tú eres sacerdote para siempre, según el orden de Melchîsedec.

For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

for it is testified, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Ainsi, a été abrogée la première ordonnance, à cause de son impuissance et de son inutilité,

El mandamiento precedente, cierto se abroga por su flaqueza é inutilidad;

For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness

— car la Loi n'a rien amené à la perfection, — mais elle a été l'introduction à une meilleure espérance, par laquelle nous avons accès auprès de Dieu.

Porque nada perfeccionó la ley; mas hízolo la introducción de mejor esperanza, por la cual nos acercamos á Dios.

For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.

Et comme cela ne s'est point fait sans serment, — car, tandis que les autres ont été établis prêtres sans serment,

Y por cuanto no fué sin juramento,

And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:

Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath

celui-ci l'a été avec serment par celui qui lui a dit : " Le Seigneur l'a juré, et il ne s'en repentira pas : Tu es prêtre pour toujours selon l'ordre de Melchisédech ", —

(Porque los otros cierto sin juramento fueron hechos sacerdotes; mas éste, con juramento por el que le dijo: Juró el Señor, y no se arrepentirá: Tú eres sacerdote eternamente según el orden de Melchîsedec:)

(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by him that says of him, “The Lord swore and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.’”

Jésus est par cela même le garant d'une alliance supérieure.

Tanto de mejor testamento es hecho fiador Jesús.

By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

By so much, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.

De plus, ils forment, eux, une longue série de prêtres, parce que la mort les empêchait de l'être toujours ;

Y los otros cierto fueron muchos sacerdotes, en cuanto por la muerte no podían permanecer.

And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:

Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.

mais lui, parce qu'il demeure éternellement, il possède un sacerdoce qui ne se transmet point.

Mas éste, por cuanto permanece para siempre, tiene un sacerdocio inmutable:

But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.

De là vient aussi qu'il peut sauver parfaitement ceux qui s'approchent de Dieu par lui, puisqu'il est toujours vivant pour intercéder en leur faveur.

Por lo cual puede también salvar eternamente á los que por él se allegan á Dios, viviendo siempre para interceder por ellos.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

Tel est, en effet, le grand prêtre qu'il nous fallait, saint, innocent, sans tache, séparé des pécheurs, et élevé au-dessus des cieux ;

Porque tal pontífice nos convenía: santo, inocente, limpio, apartado de los pecadores, y hecho más sublime que los cielos;

For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

qui n'a pas besoin, comme les grands prêtres, d'offrir chaque jour des sacrifices d'abord pour ses propres péchés, ensuite pour ceux du peuple, — car ceci, il l'a fait une fois pour toutes en s'offrant lui-même.

Que no tiene necesidad cada día, como los otros sacerdotes, de ofrecer primero sacrificios por sus pecados, y luego por los del pueblo: porque esto lo hizo una sola vez, ofreciéndose á sí mismo.

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.

La Loi, en effet, institue grands prêtres des hommes sujets à la faiblesse ; mais la parole du serment, intervenue après la Loi, institue le Fils qui est arrivé à la perfection pour l'éternité.

Porque la ley constituye sacerdotes á hombres flacos; mas la palabra del juramento, después de la ley, constituye al Hijo, hecho perfecto para siempre.

For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.
