Porque este Melquisedec, rey de Salén, sacerdote del Dios Altísimo, el cual conoció a Abraham cuando regresaba de la derrota de los reyes, y lo bendijo,
PORQUE este Melchîsedec, rey de Salem, sacerdote del Dios Altísimo, el cual salió á recibir á Abraham que volvía de la derrota de los reyes, y le bendijo,
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

al cual Abraham dio los diezmos de todo, cuyo nombre significa primero Rey de Justicia, y también Rey de Salén, es decir, Rey de Paz,

sin padre, sin madre, sin genealogía, sin principio de días ni fin de vida, sino declarado semejante al Hijo de Dios, permanece sacerdote para siempre.

Consideren, pues, cuán grande era éste, a quien el patriarca Abraham dio el diezmo de los despojos.

Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.

Ciertamente los hijos de Leví que reciben el sacerdocio tienen mandamiento de tomar los diezmos del pueblo según la Ley, es decir, de sus hermanos, aunque éstos también descendieron de Abraham.
Y ciertamente los que de los hijos de Leví toman el sacerdocio, tienen mandamiento de tomar del pueblo los diezmos según la ley, es á saber, de sus hermanos aunque también hayan salido de los lomos de Abraham.
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
They indeed of the sons of Levi who receive the priest’s office have a commandment to take tithes from the people according to the law, that is, of their brothers, though these have come out of the body of Abraham,
Pero el que no descendió de los levitas recibió un diezmo de Abraham y bendijo al que tiene las promesas.
Mas aquél cuya genealogía no es contada de ellos, tomó de Abraham los diezmos, y bendijo al que tenía las promesas.
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
but he whose genealogy is not counted from them has accepted tithes from Abraham, and has blessed him who has the promises.
Fuera de toda discusión, el inferior es bendecido por el superior.
Y sin contradicción alguna, lo que es menos es bendecido de lo que es más.
And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater.
Y aquí ciertamente reciben los diezmos de hombres mortales, pero allí, uno de quien se da testimonio que vive.

And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

Por decirlo así, por medio de Abraham también Leví, quien recibía el diezmo, pagaba diezmos,

And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
We can say that through Abraham even Levi, who receives tithes, has paid tithes,
porque aún Leví estaba en el seno de su antepasado cuando Melquisedec lo conoció.
Porque aun estaba en los lomos de su padre cuando Melchîsedec le salió al encuentro.
For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

Así que, si la perfección fuera por medio del sacerdocio levítico, porque basado en él, el pueblo recibió la Ley, ¿qué necesidad había aún de que se levantara otro sacerdote según el orden de Melquisedec, y que no fuera nombrado según el orden de Aarón?
Si pues la perfección era por el sacerdocio Levítico (porque debajo de él recibió el pueblo la ley) ¿qué necesidad había aún de que se levantase otro sacerdote según el orden de Melchîsedec, y que no fuese llamado según el orden de Aarón?
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people have received the law), what further need was there for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
Porque al ser cambiado el sacerdocio, es necesario que también haya cambio de ley.
Pues mudado el sacerdocio, necesario es que se haga también mudanza de la ley.
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Porque Aquél de Quien se dicen estas cosas, es de otra tribu, de la cual nadie sirvió al altar.

For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

Pues es evidente que nuestro Señor descendió de la tribu de Judá, en cuanto a la cual Moisés nada dijo con respecto a sacerdotes.
Porque notorio es que el Señor nuestro nació de la tribu de Judá, sobre cuya tribu nada habló Moisés tocante al sacerdocio.
For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

Es aún más evidente, si se levanta otro sacerdote a semejanza de Melquisedec,

And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
This is yet more abundantly evident, if after the likeness of Melchizedek there arises another priest,
constituido no según la ley sobre la descendencia humana, sino según el poder de una vida indestructible.

Pues se da testimonio: Tú eres Sacerdote para siempre Según el orden de Melquisedec.

For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Porque ciertamente se abroga el mandamiento anterior por causa de su debilidad e ineficacia
El mandamiento precedente, cierto se abroga por su flaqueza é inutilidad;
For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
For there is an annulling of a foregoing commandment because of its weakness and uselessness
(pues la Ley nada perfeccionó). Pero fue introducción a una mejor esperanza por la cual nos acercamos a Dios,
Porque nada perfeccionó la ley; mas hízolo la introducción de mejor esperanza, por la cual nos acercamos á Dios.
For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

lo cual fue hecho con juramento. Porque ciertamente ellos son declarados sacerdotes sin juramento,
Y por cuanto no fué sin juramento,
And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
Inasmuch as he was not made priest without the taking of an oath
pero Éste, con el juramento del que le dice: El Señor juró y no cambiará de parecer: Tú eres sacerdote para siempre.
(Porque los otros cierto sin juramento fueron hechos sacerdotes; mas éste, con juramento por el que le dijo: Juró el Señor, y no se arrepentirá: Tú eres sacerdote eternamente según el orden de Melchîsedec:)
(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
(for they indeed have been made priests without an oath), but he with an oath by him that says of him, “The Lord swore and will not change his mind, ‘You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek.’”
Por tanto Jesús es Garante de un mejor Pacto.
Tanto de mejor testamento es hecho fiador Jesús.
By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
By so much, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.
Los sacerdotes fueron muchos, porque la muerte les impedía permanecer.
Y los otros cierto fueron muchos sacerdotes, en cuanto por la muerte no podían permanecer.
And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.
Pero Jesús, por cuanto permanece para siempre, tiene un sacerdocio inmutable.
Mas éste, por cuanto permanece para siempre, tiene un sacerdocio inmutable:
But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.
Por tanto puede también salvar para siempre a los que por medio de Él se acercan a Dios, y vive siempre para interceder por ellos.
Por lo cual puede también salvar eternamente á los que por él se allegan á Dios, viviendo siempre para interceder por ellos.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.
Porque este Sumo Sacerdote también nos convenía santo, inocente, sin mancha, separado de los pecadores y más exaltado que los cielos,
Porque tal pontífice nos convenía: santo, inocente, limpio, apartado de los pecadores, y hecho más sublime que los cielos;
For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

que no necesita, como los sumos sacerdotes, ofrecer sacrificios cada día, primero por sus propios pecados y después por los del pueblo, porque esto lo hizo al ofrecerse una vez para siempre.
Que no tiene necesidad cada día, como los otros sacerdotes, de ofrecer primero sacrificios por sus pecados, y luego por los del pueblo: porque esto lo hizo una sola vez, ofreciéndose á sí mismo.
Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.
Porque la Ley designa como sumos sacerdotes a hombres que tienen debilidad, pero la Palabra del juramento, que es posterior a la Ley, designa al Hijo declarado perfecto para siempre.
Porque la ley constituye sacerdotes á hombres flacos; mas la palabra del juramento, después de la ley, constituye al Hijo, hecho perfecto para siempre.
For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.
