y es el ministro, o sacerdote, del santuario celestial, y del verdadero Tabernáculo, erigido por el Señor, y no por hombre alguno:
ASÍ que, la suma acerca de lo dicho es: Tenemos tal pontífice que se asentó á la diestra del trono de la Majestad en los cielos;
Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

que si todo sumo sacerdote es destinado a ofrecer dones y víctimas, forzoso es que también éste tenga alguna cosa que ofrecer;
Ministro del santuario, y de aquel verdadero tabernáculo que el Señor asentó, y no hombre.
A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

porque si él habitase sobre la tierra, ni aun sacerdote sería, estando ya establecidos a este fin los hijos de la tribu de Leví, que según la ley, ofrecen los dones,
Porque todo pontífice es puesto para ofrecer presentes y sacrificios; por lo cual es necesario que también éste tuviese algo que ofrecer.
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.

y sirven al templo material, bosquejo y sombra de las cosas celestiales. Como le fue respondido a Moisés, al construir el Tabernáculo: Mira, le dijo Dios, hazlo todo conforme al diseño que se te ha mostrado en el monte.
Así que, si estuviese sobre la tierra, ni aun sería sacerdote, habiendo aún los sacerdotes que ofrecen los presentes según la ley;
For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:

Mas nuestro sumo sacerdote, Jesucristo, ha alcanzado un ministerio tanto más excelente, cuanto es mediador de un Testamento o alianza más apreciable, la cual fue otorgada sobre mejores promesas.
Los cuales sirven de bosquejo y sombra de las cosas celestiales, como fué respondido á Moisés cuando había de acabar el tabernáculo: Mira, dice, haz todas las cosas conforme al dechado que te ha sido mostrado en el monte.
Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

Pues si aquel primero fuera sin imperfección, de ningún modo se trataría de sustituirle otro.
Mas ahora tanto mejor ministerio es el suyo, cuanto es mediador de un mejor pacto, el cual ha sido formado sobre mejores promesas.

Sin embargo, culpándolos dice a los prevaricadores de la ley antigua: He aquí que vendrán días, dice el Señor, en que otorgaré a la casa de Israel y a la casa de Judá un Testamento o alianza nueva;
Porque si aquel primero fuera sin falta, cierto no se hubiera procurado lugar de segundo.

El Testamento que he de disponer, dice el Señor, para la casa de Israel, después de aquellos días, es el siguiente: Imprimiré mis leyes en la mente de ellos, y las escribiré sobre sus corazones; y yo seré su Dios, y ellos serán mi pueblo;
No como el pacto que hice con sus padres el día que los tomé por la mano para sacarlos de la tierra de Egipto: porque ellos no permanecieron en mi pacto, y yo los menosprecié, dice el Señor.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the Lord: “I will put my laws into their mind; I will also write them on their heart. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
pues yo les perdonaré sus maldades, y no me acordaré más de sus pecados.
Y ninguno enseñará á su prójimo, ni ninguno á su hermano, diciendo: Conoce al Señor: porque todos me conocerán, desde el menor de ellos hasta el mayor.
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

Con llamar nuevo a este Testamento, dio por anticuado al primero. Ahora bien, lo que se da por anticuado y viejo, cerca está de quedar abolido.
Porque seré propicio á sus injusticias, y de sus pecados y de sus iniquidades no me acordaré más.
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Es verdad que tuvo el primer Testamento o alianza reglamentos sagrados del culto y un santuario terrestre y temporal.
Diciendo, Nuevo pacto, dió por viejo al primero; y lo que es dado por viejo y se envejece, cerca está de desvanecerse.
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
In that he says, “A new covenant”, he has made the first obsolete. But that which is becoming obsolete and grows aged is near to vanishing away.
