1El antiguo sistema tenía instrucciones sobre cómo adorar, y un santuario terrenal.
2En la primera sala del tabernáculo estaba el candelabro, la mesa, y el pan sagrado. A este lugar se le llamaba el Lugar Santo.
3Al pasar el segundo velo, se encontraba la sala que se llamaba el Lugar Santísimo.
4Dentro de este lugar estaba el altar de oro del incienso, y el “cofre del acuerdo”, cubierta de oro. Dentro del arca se encontraba una taza de oro que contenía maná, la vara de Aarón que reverdeció, y las inscripciones del pacto sobre piedras.
5Y encima del arca estaba el ángel querubín protegiendo el lugar de la reconciliación. Pero ahora no podemos hablar de esto en detalle.
6Cuando todo esto estuvo establecido, los sacerdotes ya podrían entrar con regularidad a la primera sala para llevar a cabo sus labores.
7Pero solo el sumo sacerdote entraba a la segunda sala, y solo una vez al año. Incluso en ese momento tenía que hacer un sacrificio que incluyera sangre, el cual era ofrecido por sí mismo y por los pecados que el pueblo hubiera cometido por ignorancia.
8Con esto, el Espíritu Santo indicaba que el camino al verdadero Lugar Santísimo no se había revelado mientras aún existía el primer tabernáculo.
9Esta es una ilustración para nosotros en el presente, demostrándonos que los dones y sacrificios que se ofrecen no pueden limpiar la conciencia del adorador.
10Pues esos son solamente requisitos religiosos, que tienen que ver con la comida y la bebida, y diversas ceremonias que implican el lavamiento, las cuales fueron impuestas hasta que llegó el tiempo en que Dios estableció una nueva forma de relacionarnos con él.
11Cristo ha venido como sumo sacerdote de todas las buenas experiencias que ahora tenemos. Entró a un tabernáculo más grande y completo que no fue hecho por manos humanas, ni es parte de este mundo creado.
12Él no entró por medio de la sangre de cabras y becerros, sino por medio de su propia sangre. Entró una sola vez y por todas, en el Lugar Santísimo, liberándonos para siempre.
13Pues si la sangre de cabras y toros, y las cenizas de vaca rociadas sobre lo que está ritualmente impuro pueden hacer que el cuerpo esté ceremonialmente puro,
14¿cuánto más la sangre de Cristo, quien se ofreció a Dios teniendo una vida sin pecado por medio del Espíritu eterno, puede limpiar sus conciencias de sus antiguas vidas de pecado, para que puedan servir al Dios vivo?
15Por eso él es el mediador de una nueva relación de pacto. Puesto que la muerte ha ocurrido para liberarlos de los pecados cometidos bajo la relación del primer pacto, ahora los que son llamados pueden recibir la promesa de una herencia eterna.
16Pues para que se cumpla un testamento, quien lo hace debe morir primero.
17El testamento solo es válido cuando hay muerte, y nunca se cumple mientras la persona aun esté viva.
18Por eso el primer pacto fue establecido con sangre.
19Después que Moisés presentó todos los mandamientos de la ley a todo el pueblo, tomó la sangre de cabras y becerros junto con agua y roció el libro y también a todo el pueblo, usando lana escarlata e hisopo.
20Y les dijo: “Esta es la sangre de la relación de pacto que Dios les ha dicho que quiere tener con ustedes”.
21Del mismo modo, Moisés roció la sangre en el tabernáculo y en todo lo que se usaba para el culto.
22Conforme a la ley ceremonial, casi todo se purificaba con sangre, y sin derramamiento de sangre, nada quedaría ritualmente limpio de la mancha del pecado.
23De modo que si las copias de lo que hay en el cielo necesitaban limpiarse de esta manera, las cosas que están en el cielo necesitaban limpiarse con mejores sacrificios.
24Porque Cristo no ha entrado al Lugar Santísimo construido por seres humanos y que es apenas un modelo del original. Él entró al cielo mismo, y ahora aparece en representación de nosotros, hablando a nuestro favor en presencia de Dios.
25Esto no tiene como fin ofrecerse repetidas veces, como un sumo sacerdote que tiene que entrar al Lugar Santísimo después de un año, ofreciendo sangre que no es suya.
26De otro modo, Cristo habría tenido que sufrir muchas veces desde la creación del mundo. Pero no fue así: fue solo una vez al final de la era presente que él vino a eliminar el pecado al sacrificarse a sí mismo.
27Y así como los seres humanos mueren una sola vez, y luego son juzgados,
28del mismo modo ocurre con Cristo. Pues al haber sido sacrificado una sola vez para quitar los pecados de muchos, vendrá otra vez, no para hacerse cargo del pecado, sino para salvar a quienes lo esperan.

1TENÍA empero también el primer pacto reglamentos del culto, y santuario mundano.
2Porque el tabernáculo fué hecho: el primero, en que estaban las lámparas, y la mesa, y los panes de la proposición; lo que llaman el Santuario.
3Tras el segundo velo estaba el tabernáculo, que llaman el Lugar Santísimo;
4El cual tenía un incensario de oro, y el arca del pacto cubierta de todas partes alrededor de oro; en la que estaba una urna de oro que contenía el maná, y la vara de Aarón que reverdeció, y las tablas del pacto;
5Y sobre ella los querubines de gloria que cubrían el propiciatorio; de las cuales cosas no se puede ahora hablar en particular.
6Y estas cosas así ordenadas, en el primer tabernáculo siempre entraban los sacerdotes para hacer los oficios del culto;
7Mas en el segundo, sólo el pontífice una vez en el año, no sin sangre, la cual ofrece por sí mismo, y por los pecados de ignorancia del pueblo:
8Dando en esto á entender el Espíritu Santo, que aun no estaba descubierto el camino para el santuario, entre tanto que el primer tabernáculo estuviese en pie.
9Lo cual era figura de aquel tiempo presente, en el cual se ofrecían presentes y sacrificios que no podían hacer perfecto, cuanto á la conciencia, al que servía con ellos;
10Consistiendo sólo en viandas y en bebidas, y en diversos lavamientos, y ordenanzas acerca de la carne, impuestas hasta el tiempo de la corrección.
11Mas estando ya presente Cristo, pontífice de los bienes que habían de venir, por el más amplio y más perfecto tabernáculo, no hecho de manos, es á saber, no de esta creación;
12Y no por sangre de machos cabríos ni de becerros, mas por su propia sangre, entró una sola vez en el santuario, habiendo obtenido eterna redención.
13Porque si la sangre de los toros y de los machos cabríos, y la ceniza de la becerra, rociada á los inmundos, santifica para la purificación de la carne,
14¿Cuánto más la sangre de Cristo, el cual por el Espíritu eterno se ofreció á sí mismo sin mancha á Dios, limpiará vuestras conciencias de las obras de muerte para que sirváis al Dios vivo?
15Así que, por eso es mediador del nuevo testamento, para que interviniendo muerte para la remisión de las rebeliones que había bajo del primer testamento, los que son llamados reciban la promesa de la herencia eterna.
16Porque donde hay testamento, necesario es que intervenga muerte del testador.
17Porque el testamento con la muerte es confirmado; de otra manera no es válido entre tanto que el testador vive.
18De donde vino que ni aun el primero fué consagrado sin sangre.
19Porque habiendo leído Moisés todos los mandamientos de la ley á todo el pueblo, tomando la sangre de los becerros y de los machos cabríos, con agua, y lana de grana, é hisopo, roció al mismo libro, y también á todo el pueblo,
20Diciendo: Esta es la sangre del testamento que Dios os ha mandado.
21Y además de esto roció también con la sangre el tabernáculo y todos los vasos del ministerio.
22Y casi todo es purificado según la ley con sangre; y sin derramamiento de sangre no se hace remisión.
23Fué, pues, necesario que las figuras de las cosas celestiales fuesen purificadas con estas cosas; empero las mismas cosas celestiales con mejores sacrificios que éstos.
24Porque no entró Cristo en el santuario hecho de mano, figura del verdadero, sino en el mismo cielo para presentarse ahora por nosotros en la presencia de Dios.
25Y no para ofrecerse muchas veces á sí mismo, como entra el pontífice en el santuario cada año con sangre ajena;
26De otra manera fuera necesario que hubiera padecido muchas veces desde el principio del mundo: mas ahora una vez en la consumación de los siglos, para deshacimiento del pecado se presentó por el sacrificio de sí mismo.
27Y de la manera que está establecido á los hombres que mueran una vez, y después el juicio;
28Así también Cristo fué ofrecido una vez para agotar los pecados de muchos; y la segunda vez, sin pecado, será visto de los que le esperan para salud.

1Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
2For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
3And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;
4Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
5And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we can not now speak particularly.
6Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
7But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:
8The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
9Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;
10Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
11But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
16For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
17For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
18Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
19For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
20Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.
21Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.
22And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
23It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
25Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;
26For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

1Now indeed even the first covenant had ordinances of divine service and an earthly sanctuary.
2For a tabernacle was prepared. In the first part were the lamp stand, the table, and the show bread, which is called the Holy Place.
3After the second veil was the tabernacle which is called the Holy of Holies,
4having a golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant overlaid on all sides with gold, in which was a golden pot holding the manna, Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tablets of the covenant;
5and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat, of which things we can’t speak now in detail.
6Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services,
7but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offers for himself and for the errors of the people.
8The Holy Spirit is indicating this, that the way into the Holy Place wasn’t yet revealed while the first tabernacle was still standing.
9This is a symbol of the present age, where gifts and sacrifices are offered that are incapable, concerning the conscience, of making the worshiper perfect,
10being only (with foods and drinks and various washings) fleshly ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation.
11But Christ having come as a high priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation,
12nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the Holy Place, having obtained eternal redemption.
13For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh,
14how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without defect to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, since a death has occurred for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, that those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
16For where a last will and testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him who made it.
17For a will is in force where there has been death, for it is never in force while he who made it lives.
18Therefore even the first covenant has not been dedicated without blood.
19For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,
20saying, “This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you.”
21He sprinkled the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry in the same way with the blood.
22According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.
23It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
24For Christ hasn’t entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;
25nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest enters into the holy place year by year with blood not his own,
26or else he must have suffered often since the foundation of the world. But now once at the end of the ages, he has been revealed to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment,
28so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
