1Israel ist ein wuchernder Weinstock, der seine Frucht ansetzte; nach der Menge seiner Frucht hat er die Altäre vermehrt, nach der Güte seines Landes haben sie die Bildsäulen verschönert.
2Gleißnerisch war ihr Herz, nun werden sie es büßen: er wird ihre Altäre zertrümmern, ihre Bildsäulen zerstören.
3Ja, nun werden sie sagen: Wir haben keinen König; denn wir haben Jehova nicht gefürchtet, und der König, was wird er für uns tun?
4Sie haben eitle Worte geredet, falsch geschworen, Bündnisse geschlossen: so wird das Gericht sprossen wie Giftkraut in den Furchen des Feldes.
5Sie Bewohner von Samaria werden bange sein für das Kalb von Beth-Awen; ja, sein Volk wird über dasselbe trauern, und seine Götzenpriester werden seinetwegen beben, wegen seiner Herrlichkeit, weil sie von ihm fortgezogen ist;
6auch dieses wird nach Assyrien gebracht werden als Geschenk für den König Jareb. Scham wird Ephraim ergreifen, und Israel wird zu Schanden werden wegen seines Ratschlags.
7Dahin ist Samaria und sein König, wie ein Splitter auf des Wassers Fläche.
8Und die Höhen von Awen, die Sünde Israels, werden vertilgt werden; Dornen und Disteln werden über ihre Altäre wachsen. Und sie werden zu den Bergen sagen: Bedecket uns! und zu den Hügeln: Fallet auf uns!
9Seit den Tagen von Gibea hast du gesündigt, Israel: dort sind sie stehen geblieben; nicht erreichte sie zu Gibea der Streit wider die Kinder des Frevels.
10Nach meiner Lust werde ich sie züchtigen, und Völker werden gegen sie versammelt werden, wenn ich sie an ihre beiden Sünden binden werde.
11Und Ephraim ist eine ans Joch gewöhnte junge Kuh, die zu dreschen liebt; und ich, ich bin über die Schönheit ihres Halses hergefahren: ich werde Ephraim einspannen, Juda soll pflügen, Jakob soll eggen.
12Säet euch zur Gerechtigkeit, erntet der Güte gemäß; pflüget euch einen Neubruch: denn es ist Zeit, Jehova zu suchen, bis er komme und euch Gerechtigkeit regnen lasse.
13Ihr habt Gesetzlosigkeit gepflügt, Unrecht geerntet, die Frucht der Lüge gegessen; denn du hast auf deinen Weg vertraut, auf die Menge deiner Helden.
14Und es wird sich ein Getümmel erheben unter deinen Völkern, und alle deine Festen werden zerstört werden, wie Schalman Beth-Arbel zerstörte am Tage des Krieges; die Mutter samt den Kindern wurde zerschmettert.
15Also hat Bethel euch getan um der Bosheit eurer Bosheit willen: mit dem Morgenrot wird Israels König gänzlich vernichtet sein.

1ES Israel una frondosa viña, haciendo fruto para sí: conforme á la multiplicación de su fruto multiplicó altares, conforme á la bondad de su tierra aumentaron sus estatuas.
2Dividióse su corazón. Ahora serán hallados culpables: él quebrantará sus altares, asolará sus estatuas.
3Porque dirán ahora: No tenemos rey, porque no temimos á Jehová: ¿y qué haría el rey por nosotros?
4Han hablado palabras jurando en vano al hacer alianza: por tanto, el juicio florecerá como ajenjo en los surcos del campo.
5Por las becerras de Beth-aven serán atemorizados los moradores de Samaria: porque su pueblo lamentará á causa del becerro, y sus sacerdotes que en él se regocijaban por su gloria, la cual será disipada.
6Y aun será él llevado á Asiria en presente al rey Jareb: Ephraim será avergonzado, é Israel será confuso de su consejo.
7De Samaria fué cortado su rey como la espuma sobre la superficie de las aguas.
8Y los altares de Avén serán destruídos, el pecado de Israel; crecerá sobre sus altares espino y cardo. Y dirán á los montes: Cubridnos; y á los collados: Caed sobre nosotros.
9Desde los días de Gabaa has pecado, oh Israel: allí estuvieron: no los tomó la batalla en Gabaa contra los inicuos.
10Y los castigaré como deseo: y pueblos se juntarán sobre ellos cuando serán atados en sus dos surcos.
11Ephraim es becerra domada, amadora del trillar; mas yo pasaré sobre su lozana cerviz: yo haré llevar yugo á Ephraim; arará Judá, quebrará sus terrones Jacob.
12Sembrad para vosotros en justicia, segad para vosotros en misericordia; arad para vosotros barbecho: porque es el tiempo de buscar á Jehová, hasta que venga y os enseñe justicia.
13Habéis arado impiedad, segasteis iniquidad: comeréis fruto de mentira: porque confiaste en tu camino, en la multitud de tus fuertes.
14Por tanto, en tus pueblos se levantará alboroto, y todas tus fortalezas serán destruídas, como destruyó Salmán á Beth-arbel el día de la batalla: la madre fué arrojada sobre los hijos.
15Así hará á vosotros Beth-el por la maldad de vuestra maldad: en la mañana será del todo cortado el rey de Israel.
King James Version
1Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
2Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
3For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
4They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
5The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Beth-aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
6It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
7As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.
8The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
9O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.
10It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
11And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.
12Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.
13Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
14Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.
15So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
World English Bible
1Israel is a luxuriant vine that produces his fruit. According to the abundance of his fruit he has multiplied his altars. As their land has prospered, they have adorned their sacred stones.
2Their heart is divided. Now they will be found guilty. He will demolish their altars. He will destroy their sacred stones.
3Surely now they will say, “We have no king; for we don’t fear the LORD; and the king, what can he do for us?”
4They make promises, swearing falsely in making covenants. Therefore judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field.
5The inhabitants of Samaria will be in terror for the calves of Beth Aven, for its people will mourn over it, along with its priests who rejoiced over it, for its glory, because it has departed from it.
6It also will be carried to Assyria for a present to a great king. Ephraim will receive shame, and Israel will be ashamed of his own counsel.
7Samaria and her king float away like a twig on the water.
8The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed. The thorn and the thistle will come up on their altars. They will tell the mountains, “Cover us!” and the hills, “Fall on us!”
9“Israel, you have sinned from the days of Gibeah. There they remained. The battle against the children of iniquity doesn’t overtake them in Gibeah.
10When it is my desire, I will chastise them; and the nations will be gathered against them when they are bound to their two transgressions.
11Ephraim is a trained heifer that loves to thresh, so I will put a yoke on her beautiful neck. I will set a rider on Ephraim. Judah will plow. Jacob will break his clods.
12Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to kindness. Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and rains righteousness on you.
13You have plowed wickedness. You have reaped iniquity. You have eaten the fruit of lies, for you trusted in your way, in the multitude of your mighty men.
14Therefore a battle roar will arise among your people, and all your fortresses will be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth Arbel in the day of battle. The mother was dashed in pieces with her children.
15So Bethel will do to you because of your great wickedness. At daybreak the king of Israel will be destroyed.
