1Cuando Israel era niño, era querido para mí; y saqué a mi hijo de Egipto.
2Cuanto más los llamaba, más se fueron de mí; hicieron ofrendas a los baales, quemando incienso a las imágenes.
3Pero yo estaba guiando los pasos de Efraín; Los tomé en mis brazos, pero no estaban conscientes de que yo los sanaba.
4Los hice venir detrás de mí con lazos humanos, con lazos de amor; fui para ellos como alguien que quitó el yugo de sobre sus quijadas, me incliné y les di de comer.
5Regresará a la tierra de Egipto y el asirio será su rey, porque no quisieron volver a mí.
6Y la espada atravesará sus pueblos, destruyendo a sus hijos y causando destrucción a causa de sus malvados planes.
7Mi pueblo está entregado a pecar contra mí; aunque griten muy alto, nadie los levantará.
8¿Cómo puedo darte por vencido, oh Efraín? ¿Cómo puedo ser tu salvador, oh Israel? ¿Cómo puedo hacerte como Adma? ¿Cómo puedo hacerte lo mismo que le hice a Zeboim? Mi corazón se conmueve dentro de mí, se llena de compasione por ti.
9No pondré en práctica el furor de mi ira; No volveré a enviar destrucción a Efraín; porque yo soy Dios y no hombre, el Santo entre ustedes; No vendré con furor.
10Ellos irán tras el Señor; su clamor será como el de un león; su grito será fuerte, y los niños vendrán del oeste, temblando de miedo;
11Temblando de miedo como un pájaro, saldrán de Egipto, como una paloma de la tierra de Asiria: y les daré descanso en sus casas, dice el Señor.
12Me rodea las mentiras de Efraín y los engaños de Israel están sobre mí por todos lados, Judá aún gobierna con Dios y es fiel a los santos.

1CUANDO Israel era muchacho, yo lo amé, y de Egipto llamé á mi hijo.
2Como los llamaban, así ellos se iban de su presencia; á los Baales sacrificaban, y á las esculturas ofrecían sahumerios.
3Yo con todo eso guiaba en pies al mismo Ephraim, tomándolos de sus brazos; y no conocieron que yo los cuidaba.
4Con cuerdas humanas los traje, con cuerdas de amor: y fuí para ellos como los que alzan el yugo de sobre sus mejillas, y llegué hacia él la comida.
5No tornará á tierra de Egipto, antes el mismo Assur será su rey, porque no se quisieron convertir.
6Y caerá espada sobre sus ciudades, y consumirá sus aldeas; consumirálas á causa de sus consejos.
7Entre tanto, está mi pueblo adherido á la rebelión contra mí: aunque lo llaman al Altísimo, ninguno absolutamente quiere ensalzarle.
8¿Cómo tengo de dejarte, oh Ehpraim? ¿he de entregarte yo, Israel? ¿cómo podré yo hacerte como Adma, ni ponerte como á Zeboim? Mi corazón se revuelve dentro de mí, inflámanse todas mis conmiseraciones.
9No ejecutaré el furor de mi ira, no volveré para destruir á Ephraim: porque Dios soy, y no hombre; el Santo en medio de ti: y no entraré en la ciudad.
10En pos de Jehová caminarán: él bramará como león: cual león rugirá él de cierto, y los hijos se moverán azorados del occidente.
11Como ave se moverán velozmente de Egipto, y de la tierra de Asiria como paloma; y pondrélos en sus casas, dice Jehová.

1When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
2As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
3I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
4I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
5He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
6And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.
7And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.
8How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
9I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.
10They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
11They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
12Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

1“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.
2They called to them, so they went from them. They sacrificed to the Baals, and burned incense to engraved images.
3Yet I taught Ephraim to walk. I took them by their arms, but they didn’t know that I healed them.
4I drew them with cords of a man, with ties of love; and I was to them like those who lift up the yoke on their necks; and I bent down to him and I fed him.
5“They won’t return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian will be their king, because they refused to repent.
6The sword will fall on their cities, and will destroy the bars of their gates, and will put an end to their plans.
7My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won’t exalt them.
8“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused.
9I will not execute the fierceness of my anger. I will not return to destroy Ephraim, for I am God, and not man—the Holy One among you. I will not come in wrath.
10They will walk after the LORD, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children will come trembling from the west.
11They will come trembling like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses,” says the LORD.
12Ephraim surrounds me with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit. Judah still strays from God, and is unfaithful to the Holy One.
