El Señor dice: «Cuando Israel era niño yo lo amé como a un hijo, y lo liberé de Egipto.
CUANDO Israel era muchacho, yo lo amé, y de Egipto llamé á mi hijo.
When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

Pero después, cuanto más lo llamaba a estar cerca de mí tanto más se rebelaba y era desobediente. Ofrecía homenajes a Baal y ofrecía perfumes delicados a los ídolos.
Como los llamaban, así ellos se iban de su presencia; á los Baales sacrificaban, y á las esculturas ofrecían sahumerios.
As they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.

Yo lo capacité desde su infancia, le enseñé a andar y lo sostuve en mis brazos. Pero él ni siquiera se dio cuenta de que era yo quien lo cuidaba.
Yo con todo eso guiaba en pies al mismo Ephraim, tomándolos de sus brazos; y no conocieron que yo los cuidaba.
I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I healed them.
Yet I taught Ephraim to walk. I took them by their arms, but they didn’t know that I healed them.
Lo traté con mucha ternura, lo conquisté con expresiones de amor. Yo la alzaba en mis brazos y jugaba con él, contento de ver sus sonrisas. Yo mismo le daba de comer, como a un niño pequeño.
Con cuerdas humanas los traje, con cuerdas de amor: y fuí para ellos como los que alzan el yugo de sobre sus mejillas, y llegué hacia él la comida.
I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.

»Pero ellos no quieren volver a mí; por eso tendrán que volver a Egipto, y el rey de Asiria gobernará sobre ellos.
No tornará á tierra de Egipto, antes el mismo Assur será su rey, porque no se quisieron convertir.
He shall not return into the land of Egypt, but the Assyrian shall be his king, because they refused to return.
“They won’t return into the land of Egypt; but the Assyrian will be their king, because they refused to repent.
La guerra acabará con sus ciudades, sus enemigos destruirán sus fortalezas y echarán todo por los suelos.
Y caerá espada sobre sus ciudades, y consumirá sus aldeas; consumirálas á causa de sus consejos.
And the sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them, because of their own counsels.
The sword will fall on their cities, and will destroy the bars of their gates, and will put an end to their plans.
Pues mi pueblo está decidido a abandonarme. Por eso los he sentenciado a la esclavitud, y nadie los podrá librar.
Entre tanto, está mi pueblo adherido á la rebelión contra mí: aunque lo llaman al Altísimo, ninguno absolutamente quiere ensalzarle.
And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.
My people are determined to turn from me. Though they call to the Most High, he certainly won’t exalt them.
»¿Cómo podré abandonarte, mi Efraín? ¿Cómo podré dejarte ir? ¿Cómo podré desampararte como lo hice con Admá y Zeboyín? ¡Me duele el corazón por ti y no puedo contener todo el amor que te tengo! ¡Me duele tanto tener que castigarte!
¿Cómo tengo de dejarte, oh Ehpraim? ¿he de entregarte yo, Israel? ¿cómo podré yo hacerte como Adma, ni ponerte como á Zeboim? Mi corazón se revuelve dentro de mí, inflámanse todas mis conmiseraciones.
How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah? how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned within me, my repentings are kindled together.
“How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me, my compassion is aroused.
No dejaré que mi cólera se desate contra Efraín y lo destruya, pues yo soy Dios y no un hombre. Yo soy el Santo que vivo entre ustedes, y no he venido para destruirte».
No ejecutaré el furor de mi ira, no volveré para destruir á Ephraim: porque Dios soy, y no hombre; el Santo en medio de ti: y no entraré en la ciudad.
I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.
I will not execute the fierceness of my anger. I will not return to destroy Ephraim, for I am God, and not man—the Holy One among you. I will not come in wrath.
El Señor rugirá como un león y su pueblo lo seguirá. Sí, él rugirá y su pueblo vendrá temblando desde el oeste.
En pos de Jehová caminarán: él bramará como león: cual león rugirá él de cierto, y los hijos se moverán azorados del occidente.
They shall walk after the LORD: he shall roar like a lion: when he shall roar, then the children shall tremble from the west.
They will walk after the LORD, who will roar like a lion; for he will roar, and the children will come trembling from the west.
Como una bandada de pájaros recién liberados ellos vendrán de Egipto; como palomas volando libres desde Asiria. Y los traeré de vuelta a su hogar. Lo afirma el Señor.
Como ave se moverán velozmente de Egipto, y de la tierra de Asiria como paloma; y pondrélos en sus casas, dice Jehová.
They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
They will come trembling like a bird out of Egypt, and like a dove out of the land of Assyria; and I will settle them in their houses,” says the LORD.
El Señor dice: «Israel me rodea con mentiras y engaño, pero Judá aún confía en Dios y es fiel al Santo.

Ephraim compasseth me about with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Ephraim surrounds me with falsehood, and the house of Israel with deceit. Judah still strays from God, and is unfaithful to the Holy One.
