Oseas 12

(12:2) Ephraim feedeth on wind, and pursueth the east wind; the whole day he increaseth deceit and corruption; and a covenant do they make with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

CERCÓME Ephraim con mentira, y la casa de Israel con engaño: mas Judá aun domina con Dios, y es fiel con los santos.

Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

Ephraim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.

(12:3) But with Judah also hath the Lord to hold a controversy; and to punish Jacob according to his ways, according to his doings will he recompense him.

Ephraim se apacienta del viento, y sigue al solano: mentira y destrucción aumenta continuamente; porque hicieron alianza con los Asirios, y aceite se lleva á Egipto.

The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.

The LORD also has a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his deeds he will repay him.

(12:4) In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his strength he strove with an angel.

Pleito tiene Jehová con Judá para visitar á Jacob conforme á sus caminos: pagarále conforme á sus obras.

He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

In the womb he took his brother by the heel, and in his manhood he contended with God.

(12:5) Yea, he strove with an angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him: in Beth–el he should find him, and there he will speak with us.

En el vientre tomó por el calcañar á su hermano, y con su fortaleza venció al ángel.

Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Beth-el, and there he spake with us;

Indeed, he struggled with the angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication to him. He found him at Bethel, and there he spoke with us—

(12:6) And the Lord God of hosts, the Eternal One is his memorial.

Venció al ángel, y prevaleció; lloró, y rogóle: en Beth-el le halló, y allí habló con nosotros.

Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.

even the LORD, the God of Armies. The LORD is his name of renown!

(12:7) Therefore do thou return to thy God: keep goodness and justice, and wait on thy God continually.

Mas Jehová es Dios de los ejércitos: Jehová es su memorial.

Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.

Therefore turn to your God. Keep kindness and justice, and wait continually for your God.

(12:8) But like a merchant, who hath the balances of deceit in his hand, loving to overreach,

Tú pues, conviértete á tu Dios: guarda misericordia y juicio, y en tu Dios espera siempre.

He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.

A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.

(12:9) Did Ephraim say, I am certainly become rich, I have acquired substance unto myself: it is all through my labors; they will find no iniquity in me, that could be sin.

Es mercader que tiene en su mano peso falso, amador de opresión.

And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.

Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”

(12:10) And I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt: I will yet make thee dwell in tents, as in the days of antiquity.

Y dijo Ephraim: Ciertamente yo he enriquecido, hallado he riquezas para mí: nadie hallará en mí iniquidad, ni pecado en todos mis trabajos.

And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

“But I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.

(12:11) And I have spoken through the prophets, and I myself have multiplied visions, and by the means of the prophets have I spoken in similitudes.

Empero yo soy Jehová tu Dios desde la tierra de Egipto: aun te haré morar en tiendas, como en los días de la fiesta.

I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

I have also spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions; and by the ministry of the prophets I have used parables.

(12:12) If in Gil’ad there was misfortune, it is because there was naught but idolatry; in Gilgal they sacrificed bullocks to idols: their altars also are as stone–heaps on the furrows of the fields.

Y hablado he á los profetas, y yo aumenté la profecía, y por mano de los profetas puse semejanzas.

Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.

If Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.

(12:13) And Jacob fled into the fields of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept the flocks.

¿Es Galaad iniquidad? Ciertamente vanidad han sido: en Gilgal sacrificaron bueyes: y aun son sus altares como montones en los surcos del campo.

And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.

Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.

(12:14) And by a prophet did the Lord bring Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he guarded.

Mas Jacob huyó á tierra de Aram, y sirvió Israel por mujer, y por mujer fué pastor.

And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

By a prophet the LORD brought Israel up out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

(12:15)Yet Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore will his Lord cast his blood–guiltiness upon him, and his reproach will he recompense unto him.

Y por profeta hizo subir Jehová á Israel de Egipto, y por profeta fué guardado. Enojado ha Ephraim á Dios con amarguras; por tanto, sus sangres se derramarán sobre él, y su Señor le pagará su oprobio.

Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.

Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
