CERCÓME Ephraim con mentira, y la casa de Israel con engaño: mas Judá aun domina con Dios, y es fiel con los santos.
Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

Pero el Señor tiene un pleito contra Judá, y lo castigará por todo lo malo que ha hecho; sí, le dará a Jacob lo que se merece por su mala conducta.
Ephraim se apacienta del viento, y sigue al solano: mentira y destrucción aumenta continuamente; porque hicieron alianza con los Asirios, y aceite se lleva á Egipto.

Está tan inclinado a la violencia que ya en el seno materno peleó con su hermano gemelo y cuando llegó a ser adulto, luchó con el enviado del Señor.
Pleito tiene Jehová con Judá para visitar á Jacob conforme á sus caminos: pagarále conforme á sus obras.

Sí, luchó con el ángel y lo venció. Lloró y le imploró que lo bendijera. Se encontró con Dios en Betel, y allí habló con él.

Venció al ángel, y prevaleció; lloró, y rogóle: en Beth-el le halló, y allí habló con nosotros.

Por eso, Israel, busca de nuevo a tu Dios y vive de acuerdo con los principios del amor y la justicia, y siempre confía en él.
Mas Jehová es Dios de los ejércitos: Jehová es su memorial.
Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.

Pero no, mi pueblo es semejante a los comerciantes tramposos, pues usa balanzas adulteradas para estafar a la gente.
Tú pues, conviértete á tu Dios: guarda misericordia y juicio, y en tu Dios espera siempre.
He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.
Efraín se jacta: «¡Yo soy muy rico! ¡Lo he logrado todo por mi propia cuenta! ¡Nadie podrá probar que he engañado a alguien!».
Es mercader que tiene en su mano peso falso, amador de opresión.
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”
El Señor dice: «Yo soy el mismo Señor, el mismo Dios que los libró de la esclavitud de Egipto, y yo soy el que los hará vivir nuevamente en tiendas, como lo hacían cuando estaban en el desierto.
Y dijo Ephraim: Ciertamente yo he enriquecido, hallado he riquezas para mí: nadie hallará en mí iniquidad, ni pecado en todos mis trabajos.
And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.

Yo envié a mis profetas para advertirles por medio de muchas visiones, parábolas y sueños».

Los que viven en Galaad no hacen sino mentir, sólo pensando en cometer maldades. En Guilgal ofrecen bueyes como sacrificios rituales a sus dioses falsos; por eso sus altares serán destruidos y sus piedras esparcidas por el campo.
Y hablado he á los profetas, y yo aumenté la profecía, y por mano de los profetas puse semejanzas.
Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
If Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.
Jacob huyó a Aram y cuidando ovejas se ganó una esposa, tuvo que trabajar muchos años como pastor para obtener la mano de su novia.
¿Es Galaad iniquidad? Ciertamente vanidad han sido: en Gilgal sacrificaron bueyes: y aun son sus altares como montones en los surcos del campo.
And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.
Luego el Señor, por medio de un profeta, sacó a Israel de Egipto y lo cuidó durante la marcha por el desierto.
Mas Jacob huyó á tierra de Aram, y sirvió Israel por mujer, y por mujer fué pastor.

Pero Efraín ha hecho enojar al Señor, le ha causado un gran disgusto con sus actos violentos. Por eso el Señor le hará pagar por sus crímenes y hará que el mal que hizo se vuelva en su contra.
Y por profeta hizo subir Jehová á Israel de Egipto, y por profeta fué guardado. Enojado ha Ephraim á Dios con amarguras; por tanto, sus sangres se derramarán sobre él, y su Señor le pagará su oprobio.
Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
