Efraín trata de guiar al viento, yendo tras el viento del este todo el día. Sus mentiras y su violencia siguen en aumento. Hicieron un tratado con Asiria, y envían el aceite de oliva a Egipto.
CERCÓME Ephraim con mentira, y la casa de Israel con engaño: mas Judá aun domina con Dios, y es fiel con los santos.
Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Ephraim feeds on wind, and chases the east wind. He continually multiplies lies and desolation. They make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.
El Señor tiene además una acusación en contra de Judá, y castigará a Jacob por las acciones del pueblo. Les pagará conforme a lo que han hecho.
Ephraim se apacienta del viento, y sigue al solano: mentira y destrucción aumenta continuamente; porque hicieron alianza con los Asirios, y aceite se lleva á Egipto.

Incluso desde el vientre Jacob luchó con su hermano; y cuando se hizo hombre luchó con Dios.
Pleito tiene Jehová con Judá para visitar á Jacob conforme á sus caminos: pagarále conforme á sus obras.
He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he had power with God:

el Señor Dios Todopoderoso, ¡el Señor es su gran nombre!
Venció al ángel, y prevaleció; lloró, y rogóle: en Beth-el le halló, y allí habló con nosotros.

Ustedes deben volver a su Dios. Actúen con amor y hagan lo recto, y siempre esperen en Dios.
Mas Jehová es Dios de los ejércitos: Jehová es su memorial.
Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.

El mercader que sostiene en sus manos una balanza alterada ama la estafa.
Tú pues, conviértete á tu Dios: guarda misericordia y juicio, y en tu Dios espera siempre.
He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress.
A merchant has dishonest scales in his hand. He loves to defraud.
Efraín dice: “Soy rico! ¡Me he enriquecido! He recibido mucho fruto de mi trabajo y nadie puede demostrar que soy culpable de ningún mal”.
Es mercader que tiene en su mano peso falso, amador de opresión.
And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich. I have found myself wealth. In all my wealth they won’t find in me any iniquity that is sin.”
Pero yo soy el Señor tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto. Yo te hare vivir de nuevo en tiendas como lo haces en tiempos de fiesta.
Y dijo Ephraim: Ciertamente yo he enriquecido, hallado he riquezas para mí: nadie hallará en mí iniquidad, ni pecado en todos mis trabajos.
And I that am the LORD thy God from the land of Egypt will yet make thee to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast.
“But I am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt. I will yet again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
Yo hablé a través de los profetas. Yo mismo di muchas visiones y parábolas a través de los profetas.
Empero yo soy Jehová tu Dios desde la tierra de Egipto: aun te haré morar en tiendas, como en los días de la fiesta.
I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.

Si Galaad es idólatra, sin duda se volverán nada. Sacrifican toros en Guilgal. Incluso sus altares son como pilas de rocas en los surcos del campo.
Y hablado he á los profetas, y yo aumenté la profecía, y por mano de los profetas puse semejanzas.
Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
If Gilead is wicked, surely they are worthless. In Gilgal they sacrifice bulls. Indeed, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the field.
Jacob huyó a la tierra de Harán; Israel trabajó allí para ganarse una esposa. Se ganó una esposa cuidando ovejas.
¿Es Galaad iniquidad? Ciertamente vanidad han sido: en Gilgal sacrificaron bueyes: y aun son sus altares como montones en los surcos del campo.
And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
Jacob fled into the country of Aram. Israel served to get a wife. For a wife he tended flocks and herds.
A través de un profeta el Señor sacó a Israel de Egipto, y fueron cuidados por un profeta también.
Mas Jacob huyó á tierra de Aram, y sirvió Israel por mujer, y por mujer fué pastor.
And by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.

Efraín ha hecho enojar al Señor, y el Señor los dejará sufrir las consecuencias de su derramamiento de sangre, y les pagará por su desprecio.
Y por profeta hizo subir Jehová á Israel de Egipto, y por profeta fué guardado. Enojado ha Ephraim á Dios con amarguras; por tanto, sus sangres se derramarán sobre él, y su Señor le pagará su oprobio.
Ephraim provoked him to anger most bitterly: therefore shall he leave his blood upon him, and his reproach shall his Lord return unto him.
Ephraim has bitterly provoked anger. Therefore his blood will be left on him, and his Lord will repay his contempt.
