1Cependant le nombre des enfants d’Israël sera comme le sable de la mer, qui ne peut ni se mesurer ni se compter; et au lieu qu’on leur disait: Vous n’êtes pas mon peuple! On leur dira: Fils du Dieu vivant!
2Les enfants de Juda et les enfants d’Israël se rassembleront, se donneront un chef, et sortiront du pays; car grande sera la journée de Jizreel.
3Dites à vos frères: Ammi! Et à vos sœurs: Ruchama!
4Plaidez, plaidez contre votre mère, car elle n’est point ma femme, et je ne suis point son mari! Qu’elle ôte de sa face ses prostitutions, et de son sein ses adultères!
5Sinon, je la dépouille à nu, je la mets comme au jour de sa naissance, je la rends semblable à un désert, à une terre aride, et je la fais mourir de soif;
6et je n’aurai pas pitié de ses enfants, car ce sont des enfants de prostitution.
7Leur mère s’est prostituée, celle qui les a conçus s’est déshonorée, car elle a dit: J’irai après mes amants, qui me donnent mon pain et mon eau, ma laine et mon lin, mon huile et ma boisson.
8C’est pourquoi voici, je vais fermer son chemin avec des épines et y élever un mur, afin qu’elle ne trouve plus ses sentiers.
9Elle poursuivra ses amants, et ne les atteindra pas; elle les cherchera, et ne les trouvera pas. Puis elle dira: J’irai, et je retournerai vers mon premier mari, car alors j’étais plus heureuse que maintenant.
10Elle n’a pas reconnu que c’était moi qui lui donnais le blé, le moût et l’huile; et l’on a consacré au service de Baal l’argent et l’or que je lui prodiguais.
11C’est pourquoi je reprendrai mon blé en son temps et mon moût dans sa saison, et j’enlèverai ma laine et mon lin qui devaient couvrir sa nudité.
12Et maintenant je découvrirai sa honte aux yeux de ses amants, et nul ne la délivrera de ma main.
13Je ferai cesser toute sa joie, ses fêtes, ses nouvelles lunes, ses sabbats et toutes ses solennités.
14Je ravagerai ses vignes et ses figuiers, dont elle disait: C’est le salaire que m’ont donné mes amants! Je les réduirai en une forêt, et les bêtes des champs les dévoreront.
15Je la châtierai pour les jours où elle encensait les Baals, où elle se paraît de ses anneaux et de ses colliers, allait après ses amants, et m’oubliait, dit l’Éternel.
16C’est pourquoi voici, je veux l’attirer et la conduire au désert, et je parlerai à son cœur.
17Là, je lui donnerai ses vignes et la vallée d’Acor, comme une porte d’espérance, et là, elle chantera comme au temps de sa jeunesse, et comme au jour où elle remonta du pays d’Égypte.
18En ce jour-là, dit l’Éternel, tu m’appelleras: Mon mari! Et tu ne m’appelleras plus: Mon maître!
19J’ôterai de sa bouche les noms des Baals, afin qu’on ne les mentionne plus par leurs noms.
20En ce jour-là, je traiterai pour eux une alliance avec les bêtes des champs, les oiseaux du ciel et les reptiles de la terre, je briserai dans le pays l’arc, l’épée et la guerre, et je les ferai reposer avec sécurité.
21Je serai ton fiancé pour toujours; je serai ton fiancé par la justice, la droiture, la grâce et la miséricorde;
22je serai ton fiancé par la fidélité, et tu reconnaîtras l’Éternel.
23En ce jour-là, j’exaucerai, dit l’Éternel, j’exaucerai les cieux, et ils exauceront la terre;
24la terre exaucera le blé, le moût et l’huile, et ils exauceront Jizreel.
25Je planterai pour moi Lo-Ruchama dans le pays, et je lui ferai miséricorde; je dirai à Lo-Ammi: Tu es mon peuple! Et il répondra: Mon Dieu!

1DECID á vuestros hermanos, Ammi, y á vuestras hermanas, Ruhama:
2Pleitead con vuestra madre, pleitead; porque ella no es mi mujer, ni yo su marido; quite pues sus fornicaciones de su rostro, y sus adulterios de entre sus pechos;
3No sea que yo la despoje desnuda, y la haga tornar como el día en que nació, y la ponga como un desierto, y la deje como tierra seca, y la mate de sed.
4Ni tendré misericordia de sus hijos: porque son hijos de fornicaciones.
5Porque su madre fornicó; la que los engendró fué avergonzada; porque dijo: Iré tras mis amantes, que me dan mi pan y mi agua, mi lana y mi lino, mi aceite y mi bebida.
6Por tanto, he aquí yo cerco tu camino con espinas, y la cercaré con seto, y no hallará sus caminos.
7Y seguirá sus amantes, y no los alcanzará; buscarálos, y no los hallará. Entonces dirá: Iré, y volveréme á mi primer marido; porque mejor me iba entonces que ahora.
8Y ella no reconoció que yo le daba el trigo, y el vino, y el aceite, y que les multipliqué la plata y el oro con que hicieron á Baal.
9Por tanto yo tornaré, y tomaré mi trigo á su tiempo, y mi vino á su sazón, y quitaré mi lana y mi lino que había dado para cubrir su desnudez.
10Y ahora descubriré yo su locura delante de los ojos de sus amantes, y nadie la librará de mi mano.
11Y haré cesar todo su gozo, sus fiestas, sus nuevas lunas y sus sábados, y todas sus festividades.
12Y haré talar sus vides y sus higueras, de que ha dicho: Mi salario me son, que me han dado mis amantes. Y reducirélas á un matorral, y las comerán las bestias del campo.
13Y visitaré sobre ella los tiempos de los Baales, á los cuales incensaba, y adornábase de sus zarcillos y de sus joyeles, é íbase tras sus amantes olvidada de mí, dice Jehová.
14Empero he aquí, yo la induciré, y la llevaré al desierto, y hablaré á su corazón.
15Y daréle sus viñas desde allí, y el valle de Achôr por puerta de esperanza; y allí cantará como en los tiempos de su juventud, y como en el día de su subida de la tierra de Egipto.
16Y será que en aquel tiempo, dice Jehová, me llamarás Marido mío, y nunca más me llamarás Baali.
17Porque quitaré de su boca los nombres de los Baales, y nunca más serán mentados por sus nombres.
18Y haré por ellos concierto en aquel tiempo con las bestias del campo, y con las aves del cielo, y con las serpientes de la tierra: y quebraré arco, y espada, y batalla de la tierra, y harélos dormir seguros.
19Y te desposaré conmigo para siempre; desposarte he conmigo en justicia, y juicio, y misericordia, y miseraciones.
20Y te desposaré conmigo en fe, y conocerás á Jehová.
21Y será que en aquel tiempo responderé, dice Jehová, yo responderé á los cielos, y ellos responderán á la tierra;
22Y la tierra responderá al trigo, y al vino, y al aceite, y ellos responderán á Jezreel.
23Y sembraréla para mí en la tierra, y tendré misericordia de Lo-ruhama: y diré á Lo-ammi: Pueblo mío tú; y él dirá: Dios mío.

1Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ru-hamah.
2Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
3Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.
4And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.
5For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.
6Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.
7And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.
8For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.
9Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.
10And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.
11I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.
12And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.
13And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.
14Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.
15And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
16And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.
17For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.
18And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.
19And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.
20I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.
21And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;
22And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.
23And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.

1“Say to your brothers, ‘My people!’ and to your sisters, ‘My loved one!’
2Contend with your mother! Contend, for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband; and let her put away her prostitution from her face, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
3lest I strip her naked, and make her bare as in the day that she was born, and make her like a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and kill her with thirst.
4Indeed, on her children I will have no mercy, for they are children of unfaithfulness.
5For their mother has played the prostitute. She who conceived them has done shamefully; for she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’
6Therefore behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she can’t find her way.
7She will follow after her lovers, but she won’t overtake them; and she will seek them, but won’t find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, for then it was better with me than now.’
8For she didn’t know that I gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, and multiplied to her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.
9Therefore I will take back my grain in its time, and my new wine in its season, and will pluck away my wool and my flax which should have covered her nakedness.
10Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her out of my hand.
11I will also cause all her celebrations to cease: her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.
12I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, about which she has said, ‘These are my wages that my lovers have given me,’ and I will make them a forest, and the animals of the field shall eat them.
13I will visit on her the days of the Baals, to which she burned incense when she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and went after her lovers and forgot me,” says the LORD.
14“Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.
15I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she will respond there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.
16It will be in that day,” says the LORD, “that you will call me ‘my husband,’ and no longer call me ‘my master.’
17For I will take away the names of the Baals out of her mouth, and they will no longer be mentioned by name.
18In that day I will make a covenant for them with the animals of the field, and with the birds of the sky, and with the creeping things of the ground. I will break the bow, the sword, and the battle out of the land, and will make them lie down safely.
