»Acusen a su madre, ¡sí, acúsenla!, pues ella se ha convertido en la mujer de otro hombre, ya no soy más su marido. Pídanle que deje su prostitución, que no se entregue más a otros hombres.
Pleitead con vuestra madre, pleitead; porque ella no es mi mujer, ni yo su marido; quite pues sus fornicaciones de su rostro, y sus adulterios de entre sus pechos;
Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

Si no lo hace, para avergonzarla la dejaré tan desnuda como el día en que nació, y haré que se vaya consumiendo y muera de sed, como si fuera una tierra llena de hambre y sequía.
No sea que yo la despoje desnuda, y la haga tornar como el día en que nació, y la ponga como un desierto, y la deje como tierra seca, y la mate de sed.

»Pues su madre se ha convertido en una prostituta. Ella hizo algo vergonzoso cuando dijo: “Correré detrás de otros hombres y me venderé a ellos para conseguir comida, bebida y ropa”.
Porque su madre fornicó; la que los engendró fué avergonzada; porque dijo: Iré tras mis amantes, que me dan mi pan y mi agua, mi lana y mi lino, mi aceite y mi bebida.
For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

Pero yo la cercaré con zarzas y espinales, le cerraré el paso para hacerle extraviar el camino.
Por tanto, he aquí yo cerco tu camino con espinas, y la cercaré con seto, y no hallará sus caminos.

Se empeñará en correr tras sus amantes, pero no los alcanzará. Los buscará, pero no los encontrará. Entonces pensará: “Quizás sea mejor que vuelva a mi marido, pues me iba mejor con él que con mis amantes”.
Y seguirá sus amantes, y no los alcanzará; buscarálos, y no los hallará. Entonces dirá: Iré, y volveréme á mi primer marido; porque mejor me iba entonces que ahora.
And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

»Ella no se da cuenta que todo lo que tiene ha sido provisto por mí. ¡Fui yo quien le dio todo el oro y la plata que ella usó para adorar a Baal, su dios!
Y ella no reconoció que yo le daba el trigo, y el vino, y el aceite, y que les multipliqué la plata y el oro con que hicieron á Baal.
For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

»Pero ahora le quitaré todo el vino y el trigo con que continuamente la he provisto. También le quitaré la ropa que le di para que cubriera su desnudez. Ya no le daré más ricas cosechas de trigo en su estación, ni vino en el tiempo de las uvas.
Por tanto yo tornaré, y tomaré mi trigo á su tiempo, y mi vino á su sazón, y quitaré mi lana y mi lino que había dado para cubrir su desnudez.
Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

Ahora expondré su desnudez en público para avergonzarla, para que la vean todos sus amantes, y nadie podrá rescatarla de mi mano.

»Pondré fin a todos sus goces, sus fiestas, peregrinaciones y todas sus demás festividades.

I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

Destruiré sus viñas y sus huertos, regalos que, según ella, le fueron dados por sus amantes, y dejaré que se conviertan en matorrales, y los animales salvajes serán quienes comerán sus frutos.
Y haré talar sus vides y sus higueras, de que ha dicho: Mi salario me son, que me han dado mis amantes. Y reducirélas á un matorral, y las comerán las bestias del campo.
And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

»La voy a castigar por todo el perfume agradable que ella ofreció a Baal, su ídolo, y por todas las veces que ella se puso sus aretes y joyas, y me abandonó a mí, por irse tras sus amantes. Lo digo yo, el Señor.
Y visitaré sobre ella los tiempos de los Baales, á los cuales incensaba, y adornábase de sus zarcillos y de sus joyeles, é íbase tras sus amantes olvidada de mí, dice Jehová.

Israel, yo haré que olvides tus ídolos y que nunca más siquiera menciones sus nombres.
Porque quitaré de su boca los nombres de los Baales, y nunca más serán mentados por sus nombres.
For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

En aquel tiempo yo haré un trato entre ti y los animales salvajes, las aves y las víboras, para que no sientan temor los unos de los otros. Y también destruiré todas las armas y todas las guerras terminarán. Entonces todos podrán vivir tranquilos.
Y haré por ellos concierto en aquel tiempo con las bestias del campo, y con las aves del cielo, y con las serpientes de la tierra: y quebraré arco, y espada, y batalla de la tierra, y harélos dormir seguros.
And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

»Te convertiré en mi esposa para siempre y te daré como regalos la rectitud, la justicia, el amor y la misericordia.

And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.
I will betroth you to me forever. Yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in loving kindness, and in compassion.
Me comprometeré contigo en fidelidad y amor, y me conocerás verdaderamente como tu Señor.
Y te desposaré conmigo en fe, y conocerás á Jehová.
I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

»En aquel tiempo yo responderé a las peticiones que la tierra le hace al cielo para que le envíe lluvias. Entonces la tierra podrá responder al clamor del trigo, de las uvas y de los olivos, de modo que el valle de Jezrel gozará de abundancia. Yo haré que todo marche en armonía para que siempre haya abundancia. Lo digo yo, el Señor.
Y será que en aquel tiempo responderé, dice Jehová, yo responderé á los cielos, y ellos responderán á la tierra;
And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;
It will happen in that day, that I will respond,” says the LORD. “I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth;

Y la tierra responderá al trigo, y al vino, y al aceite, y ellos responderán á Jezreel.
And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

»¡En aquel tiempo yo plantaré y cuidaré a Israel en la tierra sólo para mí! Me compadeceré de “la no compadecida” y le diré a Loamí: “Tú eres mi pueblo”, y él me responderá: “¡Tú eres mi Dios!”».
Y sembraréla para mí en la tierra, y tendré misericordia de Lo-ruhama: y diré á Lo-ammi: Pueblo mío tú; y él dirá: Dios mío.
And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
