Israelitas, escuchen la palabra del Señor, pues él tiene un pleito contra ustedes. La queja del Señor es esta: «Ya no hay entre ustedes fidelidad, ni bondad, ni conocimiento de Dios.
OID palabra de Jehová, hijos de Israel, porque Jehová pleitea con los moradores de la tierra; porque no hay verdad, ni misericordia, ni conocimiento de Dios en la tierra.
Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
Hear the LORD’s word, you children of Israel, for the LORD has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.
Ustedes blasfeman, mienten, matan, roban y cometen adulterio. ¡Es tanta la violencia que los homicidios parecen no tener fin!
Perjurar, y mentir, y matar, y hurtar y adulterar prevalecieron, y sangres se tocaron con sangres.
By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.
Por eso la gente está de luto, todos están tristes y deprimidos. ¡Hasta los animales del campo, las aves del cielo y los peces están padeciendo los efectos de su maldad!
Por lo cual, se enlutará la tierra, y extenuaráse todo morador de ella, con las bestias del campo, y las aves del cielo: y aun los peces de la mar fallecerán.
Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

»¡No señales con tu dedo a alguna otra persona, tratando de pasarle la culpa! ¡Mira, sacerdote, yo estoy señalándote a ti con mi dedo!
Ciertamente hombre no contienda ni reprenda á hombre, porque tu pueblo es como los que resisten al sacerdote.
Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
“Yet let no man bring a charge, neither let any man accuse; for your people are like those who bring charges against a priest.
Cometes maldades de día y de noche, y los falsos profetas también se asocian contigo. ¡Destruiré todo lo tuyo, hasta a tu madre!
Caerás por tanto en el día, y caerá también contigo el profeta de noche; y á tu madre talaré.
Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
You will stumble in the day, and the prophet will also stumble with you in the night; and I will destroy your mother.
Mi pueblo es destruido porque no me conoce a mí, perece por no seguir mis instrucciones, y es todo por culpa de ustedes, sacerdotes, pues ustedes mismos han rehusado conocerme; por lo tanto, yo rehúso reconocerlos como mis sacerdotes. Siendo que han olvidado mis instrucciones, yo me olvidaré de bendecir a tus hijos.
Mi pueblo fué talado, porque le faltó sabiduría. Porque tú desechaste la sabiduría, yo te echaré del sacerdocio: y pues que olvidaste la ley de tu Dios, también yo me olvidaré de tus hijos.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Cuanto más se multiplicaban los sacerdotes, peor actuaban en mi contra. Ellos cambiaron la grandeza y dignidad de Dios por la insignificancia y vergüenza de los ídolos.
Conforme á su grandeza así pecaron contra mí: trocaré su honra en afrenta.
As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

»¡Los sacerdotes se regocijan en las maldades cometidas por mi pueblo, pues en cuanto peor se porta la gente, más comida tienen ellos!
Comen del pecado de mi pueblo, y en su maldad levantan su alma.
They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.
Y así se cumple aquello de que “cual el sacerdote, tal el pueblo”, y como los sacerdotes son malvados, el pueblo lo es también. Por lo tanto yo castigaré tanto a los sacerdotes como al pueblo por sus hechos malvados.
Tal será el pueblo como el sacerdote: y visitaré sobre él sus caminos, y pagaréle conforme á sus obras.
And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

Comerán, pero quedarán con hambre; fornicarán con sus amantes, pero no tendrán hijos. Esto les acontecerá porque me han abandonado y han rendido homenaje a otros dioses.

For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.

»El vino, las mujeres y la música han embotado los sentidos de la gente de mi pueblo.
Fornicación, y vino, y mosto quitan el corazón.
Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
Prostitution, wine, and new wine take away understanding.
¡Pues están pidiéndole a un pedazo de madera que les diga lo que deben hacer! Su inclinación a la idolatría los hace desviarse del camino correcto. Abandonaron a su Dios para poner su confianza en otros dioses.
Mi pueblo á su madero pregunta, y su palo le responde: porque espíritu de fornicaciones lo engañó, y fornicaron debajo de sus dioses.
My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
My people consult with their wooden idol, and answer to a stick of wood. Indeed the spirit of prostitution has led them astray, and they have been unfaithful to their God.
Ellos ofrecen sacrificios rituales a los ídolos en las cimas de las montañas; suben a las colinas para ofrecerles delicados perfumes bajo la sombra placentera de los robles, álamos y olmos. Allí sus hijas y sus nueras se entregan a la prostitución.
Sobre las cabezas de los montes sacrificaron, é incensaron sobre los collados, debajo de encinas, y álamos, y olmos que tuviesen buena sombra: por tanto, vuestras hijas fornicarán, y adulterarán vuestras nueras.

Pero, ¿por qué habré de castigarlas a ellas? Pues ustedes los hombres están haciendo lo mismo; ustedes se acuestan con las prostitutas que ofrecen sus cuerpos como culto a sus dioses, y junto con ellas ofrecen sacrificios rituales a esos dioses. ¡Por eso es que el pueblo, carente del verdadero conocimiento de Dios, actúa tan mal y se destruye a sí mismo!
No visitaré sobre vuestras hijas cuando fornicaren, ni sobre vuestras nueras cuando adulteraren: porque ellos ofrecen con las rameras, y con las malas mujeres sacrifican: por tanto, el pueblo sin entendimiento caerá.
I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.
I will not punish your daughters when they play the prostitute, nor your brides when they commit adultery; because the men consort with prostitutes, and they sacrifice with the shrine prostitutes; so the people without understanding will come to ruin.
»Si Israel es una prostituta, tú, Judá, no sigas su ejemplo. ¡No vayan a Guilgal ni acudan a Bet Avén, ni juren allá por la vida del Señor!
Si fornicares tú, Israel, á lo menos no peque Judá: y no entréis en Gilgal, ni subáis á Beth-aven; ni juréis, Vive Jehová.

Israel es testaruda como una novilla, no deja que el Señor la cuide y la lleve a pastar al campo, como si fuera un corderito.
Porque como becerra cerrera se apartó Israel: ¿apacentarálos ahora Jehová como á carneros en anchura?
For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
For Israel has behaved extremely stubbornly, like a stubborn heifer. Then how will the LORD feed them like a lamb in a meadow?
Como Efraín, es decir, Israel, se ha entregado a los ídolos, ¡pues que se quede con ellos!
Ephraim es dado á ídolos; déjalo.
Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

Los hombres de Israel se entregan a borracheras y se van en busca de prostitutas. Aman más la vergüenza que el honor.
Su bebida se corrompió; fornicaron pertinazmente: sus príncipes amaron las dádivas, afrenta de ellos.
Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
Their drink has become sour. They play the prostitute continually. Her rulers dearly love their shameful way.
Por lo tanto, un viento poderoso los barrerá, para que sientan vergüenza de adorar a sus ídolos.
Atóla el viento en sus alas, y de sus sacrificios serán avergonzados.
The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
The wind has wrapped her up in its wings; and they shall be disappointed because of their sacrifices.
