1NON rallegrarti, o Israele, per festeggiar come gli altri popoli; perciocchè tu hai fornicato, lasciando l'Iddio tuo; tu hai amato il prezzo delle fornicazioni, sopra tutte le aie del frumento.
2L'aia e il tino non li pasceranno; e il mosto fallirà loro.
3Non abiteranno nel paese del Signore; anzi Efraim tornerà in Egitto, e mangeranno cibi immondi in Assiria.
4Le loro offerte da spandere di vino non son fatte da loro al Signore; e i lor sacrificii non gli son grati; sono loro come cibo di cordoglio; chiunque ne mangia si contamina; perciocchè il lor cibo è per le lor persone, esso non entrerà nella casa del Signore.
5Che farete voi a' dì delle solennità, e a' giorni delle feste del Signore?
6Conciossiachè, ecco, se ne sieno andati via, per lo guasto; Egitto li accoglierà, Mof li seppellirà; le ortiche erederanno i luoghi di diletto, comperati da' lor danari; le spine cresceranno ne' lor tabernacoli.
7I giorni della visitazione son venuti, i giorni della retribuzione son venuti; Israele lo conoscerà; i profeti sono stolti, gli uomini d'ispirazione son forsennati: per la grandezza della tua iniquità, l'odio altresì sarà grande.
8Le guardie di Efraim sono con l'Iddio mio; i profeti sono un laccio d'uccellatore sopra tutte le vie di esso; essi sono la cagione dell'odio contro alla Casa dell'Iddio loro.
9Essi si son profondamente corrotti, come a' dì di Ghibea; Iddio si ricorderà della loro iniquità, farà punizione de' lor peccati.
10Io trovai Israele, come delle uve nel deserto; io riguardai i vostri padri, come i frutti primaticci nel fico, nel suo principio. Essi entrarono da Baal-peor, e si separarono dietro a quella cosa vergognosa, e divennero abbominevoli, come ciò che amavano.
11La gloria di Efraim se ne volerà via come un uccello, dal nascimento, dal ventre, e dalla concezione.
12Che se pure allevano i lor figliuoli, io li priverò d'essi, togliendoli d'infra gli uomini; perciocchè, guai pure a loro, quando io mi sarò ritratto da loro!
13Efraim, mentre io l'ho riguardato, è stato simile a Tiro, piantato in una stanza piacevole; ma Efraim menerà fuori i suoi figliuoli all'ucciditore.
14O Signore, da' loro; che darai? da' loro una matrice sperdente, e delle mammelle asciutte.
15Tutta la lor malvagità è in Ghilgal; quivi certo li ho avuti in odio; per la malizia de' lor fatti, io li scaccerò dalla mia Casa; io non continuerò più ad amarli; tutti i lor principi son ribelli.
16Efraim è stato percosso, la lor radice è seccata, non faranno più frutto; avvegnachè generino, io farò morire i cari frutti del lor ventre.
17L'Iddio mio li sdegnerà, perciocchè non gli hanno ubbidito; e saranno vagabondi fra le genti.

1NO te alegres, oh Israel, hasta saltar de gozo como los pueblos, pues has fornicado apartándote de tu Dios: amaste salario por todas las eras de trigo.
2La era y el lagar no los mantendrán; les fallará el mosto.
3No quedarán en la tierra de Jehová, sino que volverá Ephraim á Egipto, y á Asiria, donde comerán vianda inmunda.
4No derramarán vino á Jehová, ni él tomará contento en sus sacrificios; como pan de enlutados les serán á ellos: todos los que comieren de él, serán inmundos. Será pues el pan de ellos para sí mismos; no entrará en la casa de Jehová.
5¿Qué haréis el día de la solemnidad, y el día de la fiesta de Jehová?
6Porque, he aquí se fueron ellos á causa de la destrucción: Egipto los recogerá, Memphis los enterrará: espino poseerá por heredad lo deseable de su plata, ortiga crecerá en sus moradas.
7Vinieron los días de la visitación, vinieron los días de la paga; conocerálo Israel: necio el profeta, insensato el varón de espíritu, á causa de la multitud de tu maldad, y grande odio.
8Atalaya es Ephraim para con mi Dios: el profeta es lazo de cazador en todos sus caminos, odio en la casa de su Dios.
9Llegaron al profundo, corrompiéronse, como en los días de Gabaa: ahora se acordará de su iniquidad; visitará su pecado.
10Como uvas en el desierto hallé á Israel: como la fruta temprana de la higuera en su principio vi á vuestros padres. Ellos entraron á Baal-peor, y se apartaron para vergüenza, é hiciéronse abominables como aquello que amaron.
11Ephraim, cual ave volará su gloria desde el nacimiento, aun desde el vientre y desde la concepción.
12Y si llegaren á grandes sus hijos, quitarélos de entre los hombres, porque ¡ay de ellos también, cuando de ellos me apartare!
13Ephraim, según veo, es semejante á Tiro, asentada en lugar delicioso: mas Ephraim sacará sus hijos al matador.
14Dales, oh Jehová, lo que les has de dar: dales matriz expeliente, y enjutos pechos.
15Toda la maldad de ellos fué en Gilgal; allí, pues, les tomé aversión: por la malicia de sus obras echarélos de mi casa; no los amaré más; todos sus príncipes son desleales.
16Ephraim fué herido, secóse su cepa, no hará más fruto: aunque engendren, yo mataré lo deseable de su vientre.
17Mi Dios los desechará, porque ellos no le oyeron; y andarán errantes entre las gentes.

1Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.
2The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
3They shall not dwell in the LORD’s land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.
4They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.
5What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?
6For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.
7The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.
8The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.
9They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baal-peor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.
11As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.
12Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!
13Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.
14Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
15All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.
16Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.
17My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
World English Bible
1Don’t rejoice, Israel, to jubilation like the nations; for you were unfaithful to your God. You love the wages of a prostitute at every grain threshing floor.
2The threshing floor and the wine press won’t feed them, and the new wine will fail her.
3They won’t dwell in the LORD’s land; but Ephraim will return to Egypt, and they will eat unclean food in Assyria.
4They won’t pour out wine offerings to the LORD, neither will they be pleasing to him. Their sacrifices will be to them like the bread of mourners; all who eat of it will be polluted; for their bread will be for their appetite. It will not come into the LORD’s house.
5What will you do in the day of solemn assembly, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?
6For, behold, when they flee destruction, Egypt will gather them up. Memphis will bury them. Nettles will possess their pleasant things of silver. Thorns will be in their tents.
7The days of visitation have come. The days of reckoning have come. Israel will consider the prophet to be a fool, and the man who is inspired to be insane, because of the abundance of your sins, and because your hostility is great.
8A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler’s snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.
9They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity. He will punish them for their sins.
10I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the first ripe in the fig tree at its first season; but they came to Baal Peor, and consecrated themselves to the shameful thing, and became abominable like that which they loved.
11As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth, no one with child, and no conception.
12Though they bring up their children, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man shall be left. Indeed, woe also to them when I depart from them!
13I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a pleasant place; but Ephraim will bring out his children to the murderer.
14Give them—LORD what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
15“All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them. Because of the wickedness of their deeds, I will drive them out of my house! I will love them no more. All their princes are rebels.
16Ephraim is struck. Their root has dried up. They will bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.”
17My God will cast them away, because they didn’t listen to him; and they will be wanderers among the nations.
