¡Ay de los jueces prevaricadores y de los que promulgan leyes injustas!, dice el Señor,
¡AY de los que establecen leyes injustas, y determinando prescriben tiranía,
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;
Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive decrees
de modo que no haya justicia para los pobres, las viudas y los huérfanos. Sí, es cierto que hasta roban a las viudas y a los niños sin padre.
Por apartar del juicio á los pobres, y por quitar el derecho á los afligidos de mi pueblo; por despojar las viudas, y robar los huérfanos!
To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!
to deprive the needy of justice, and to rob the poor among my people of their rights, that widows may be their plunder, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!
¡Ay! ¿Qué harán cuando yo los visite en el día en que de lejanas tierras haga caer sobre ustedes la desolación? ¿A quién se volverán entonces en busca de socorro? ¿En dónde pondrán a salvo sus tesoros?
¿Y qué haréis en el día de la visitación? ¿y á quién os acogeréis que os ayude, cuando viniere de lejos el asolamiento? ¿y en dónde dejaréis vuestra gloria?
And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

Yo no los ayudaré, tropezarán como prisioneros y yacerán entre los muertos. Y aún así no estará satisfecha mi ira, sino que aún tendré el puño listo para golpearlos.
Sin mí se inclinarán entre los presos, y entre los muertos caerán. Ni con todo esto ha cesado su furor, antes todavía extendida su mano.

Asiria es el látigo de mi ira, su fuerza militar es el arma que empleo contra esta nación impía, sentenciada y condenada. Ella los esclavizará, los saqueará y pisoteará como tierra bajo sus pies.
Oh Assur, vara y bastón de mi furor: en su mano he puesto mi ira.
O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

Mandaréle contra una gente fementida, y sobre el pueblo de mi ira le enviaré, para que quite despojos, y arrebate presa, y que lo ponga á ser hollado como lodo de las calles.
I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Pero el rey de Asiria no sabrá que fui yo quien lo envió. Pensará solamente que ataca a mi pueblo como parte de su plan de dominio mundial.
Aunque él no lo pensará así, ni su corazón lo imaginará de esta manera; sino que su pensamiento será desarraigar y cortar gentes no pocas.
Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

Dirá que pronto cada uno de sus príncipes será rey de un país conquistado.
Porque él dice: Mis príncipes ¿no son todos reyes?
For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?
For he says, “Aren’t all of my princes kings?
«Destruiremos a Calnó así como destruimos a Carquemis», dirá, «y Jamat caerá ante nosotros como cayó Arfad; y destruiremos a Samaria como destruimos a Damasco.
¿No es Calno como Carchêmis, Hamath como Arphad, y Samaria como Damasco?
Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?
Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?”
Sí, hemos aniquilado muchos reinos cuyos ídolos eran mucho más grandes que los de Jerusalén y Samaria.
Como halló mi mano los reinos de los ídolos, siendo sus imágenes más que Jerusalem y Samaria;
As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images exceeded those of Jerusalem and of Samaria,
Así que cuando hayamos derrotado a Samaria y sus ídolos, destruiremos a Jerusalén y los suyos».
Como hice á Samaria y á sus ídolos, ¿no haré también así á Jerusalem y á sus ídolos?

Luego que el Señor se haya valido del rey de Asiria para realizar sus fines, se enfrentará con los asirios y los castigará también, porque son hombres orgullosos y altivos.
Mas acontecerá que después que el Señor hubiere acabado toda su obra en el monte de Sión, y en Jerusalem, visitaré sobre el fruto de la soberbia del corazón del rey de Asiria, y sobre la gloria de la altivez de sus ojos.
Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.
Therefore it will happen that when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his arrogant looks.
Se vanaglorian diciendo: Por nuestra propia fuerza y sabiduría hemos ganado esas guerras. Somos grandes y sabios. Por nuestra propia fuerza derribamos las murallas y destruimos a los pueblos, y nos llevamos sus tesoros.
Porque dijo: Con la fortaleza de mi mano lo he hecho, y con mi sabiduría; porque he sido prudente: y quité los términos de los pueblos, y saqueé sus tesoros, y derribé como valientes los que estaban sentados:
For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

Por nuestra propia grandeza hemos saqueado sus nidos de riquezas y hemos reunido reyes como los granjeros recogen huevos, y nadie puede mover un dedo ni abrir la boca contra nosotros.
Y halló mi mano como nido las riquezas de los pueblos; y como se cogen los huevos dejados, así me apoderé yo de toda la tierra; y no hubo quien moviese ala, ó abriese boca y graznase.
And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.
My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, I have gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped.”
Pero el Señor dice: «¿Pretenderá el hacha tener más poder que el hombre que la maneja? ¿Será la sierra más importante que el serrador? ¿Podrá la vara golpear a menos que la mano la mueva? ¿Podrá el bordón caminar por sí solo?».
¿Gloriaráse el hacha contra el que con ella corta? ¿se ensoberbecerá la sierra contra el que la mueve? como si el bordón se levantase contra los que lo levantan; como si se levantase la vara: ¿no es leño?
Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.
Should an ax brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood.
¡Por esa su perversa jactancia, oh rey de Asiria, el Señor Todopoderoso enviará una plaga entre tus orgullosas tropas, y las herirá!
Por tanto el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos enviará flaqueza sobre sus gordos; y debajo de su gloria encenderá encendimiento, como ardor de fuego.
Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

Dios, la Luz y el Santo de Israel, será el fuego y la llama que las destruirá. En una sola noche quemará esos espinos y zarzas, los asirios que destruyeron la tierra de Israel.
Y la luz de Israel será por fuego, y su Santo por llama que abrase y consuma en un día sus cardos y sus espinas.
And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

El enorme ejército de Asiria es como un bosque imponente, pero será destruido. El Señor los destruirá en cuerpo y alma, como cuando el enfermo se consume.
La gloria de su bosque y de su campo fértil consumirá, desde el alma hasta la carne: y vendrá á ser como abanderado en derrota.
And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.
He will consume the glory of his forest and of his fruitful field, both soul and body. It will be as when a standard bearer faints.
De aquel magno ejército sólo unos cuantos quedarán, tan pocos que un niño podrá contarlos.
Y los árboles que quedaren en su bosque, serán en número que un niño los pueda contar.
And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

Y finalmente, los que hayan quedado en Israel y Judá confiarán en el Señor, el Santo de Israel, en vez de temer a los asirios.
Y acontecerá en aquel tiempo, que los que hubieren quedado de Israel, y los que hubieren quedado de la casa de Jacob, nunca más estriben sobre el que los hirió; sino que se apoyarán con verdad en Jehová Santo de Israel.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

Un remanente de ellos retornará al Dios poderoso.
Las reliquias se convertirán, las reliquias de Jacob, al Dios fuerte.
The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

Pero aunque Israel sea ahora tan numeroso como las arenas de la playa, sólo unos pocos quedarán para regresar en aquel día. Con toda justicia ha resuelto Dios destruir a su pueblo.
Porque si tu pueblo, oh Israel, fuere como las arenas de la mar, las reliquias de él se convertirán: la destrucción acordada rebosará justicia.
For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
For though your people, Israel, are like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. A destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness.
Ya el Señor Dios Todopoderoso, el dueño de ustedes, ha decidido consumirlos.
Pues el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos hará consumación y fenecimiento en medio de la tierra.
For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.
For the Lord, GOD of Armies, will make a full end, and that determined, throughout all the earth.
Por lo tanto, el Señor Dios Todopoderoso dice: «¡Oh pueblo mío de Jerusalén, no temas a los asirios cuando te opriman como hace mucho hicieron los egipcios!
Por tanto el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos dice así: Pueblo mío, morador de Sión, no temas de Assur. Con vara te herirá, y contra ti alzará su palo, á la manera de Egipto:
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
Therefore the Lord, GOD of Armies, says, “My people who dwell in Zion, don’t be afraid of the Assyrian, though he strike you with the rod, and lift up his staff against you, as Egypt did.
No será por mucho tiempo; dentro de poco cesará mi ira contra ti y se encenderá contra ellos para destruirlos».
Mas de aquí á muy poco tiempo, se acabará el furor y mi enojo, para fenecimiento de ellos.
For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

El Señor Todopoderoso enviará su ángel para acabar con ellos en una gran matanza como cuando Gedeón venció a Madián en la roca de Oreb, o como cuando Dios ahogó a los ejércitos egipcios en el mar.
Y levantará Jehová de los ejércitos azote contra él, cual la matanza de Madián en la peña de Oreb: y alzará su vara sobre la mar, según hizo por la vía de Egipto.
And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
The LORD of Armies will stir up a scourge against him, as in the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb. His rod will be over the sea, and he will lift it up like he did against Egypt.
En aquel día pondrá Dios fin a la esclavitud de su pueblo, les quitará de la cerviz el yugo de esclavitud y destruirá a los enemigos como está decretado.
Y acaecerá en aquel tiempo, que su carga será quitada de tu hombro, y su yugo de tu cerviz, y el yugo se empodrecerá por causa de la unción.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
It will happen in that day that his burden will depart from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing oil.
¡Miren! ¡Ya vienen los poderosos ejércitos de Asiria! Ya están en Ayat, ahora llegan a Migrón, ya acumulan parte de sus tropas en Micmás y franquean el paso, van a pasar la noche en Gueba. El miedo se apodera de Ramá: todo el pueblo de Guibeá, la ciudad de Saúl, huye para salvarse.
Vino hasta Ajad, pasó hasta Migrón; en Michmas contará su ejército:
He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:
He has come to Aiath. He has passed through Migron. At Michmash he stores his baggage.

Pasaron el vado; alojaron en Geba: Ramá tembló; Gabaa de Saúl huyó.
They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.
They have gone over the pass. They have taken up their lodging at Geba. Ramah trembles. Gibeah of Saul has fled.
¡Bien pueden gritar aterrorizados, oh pueblo de Galín! Griten avisándole a Lais, pues se acerca el poderoso ejército. ¡Pobre Anatot, qué destino te espera!
Grita en alta voz, hija de Galim; haz que se oiga hacia Lais, pobrecilla Anathoth.
Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.
Cry aloud with your voice, daughter of Gallim! Listen, Laishah! You poor Anathoth!
Anda de huida el pueblo de Madmena, y los habitantes de Guebín se preparan para escapar,
Madmena se alborotó: los moradores de Gebim se juntarán.
Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.
Madmenah is a fugitive. The inhabitants of Gebim flee for safety.
pero el enemigo se detiene a pasar en Nob el resto del día. Amenaza con el puño a Jerusalén que está en el monte Sion.
Aún vendrá día cuando reposará en Nob: alzará su mano al monte de la hija de Sión, al collado de Jerusalem.
As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
This very day he will halt at Nob. He shakes his hand at the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
De pronto, ¡miren, miren! El Señor, el Señor Todopoderoso viene derribando los regios árboles. Está acabando con todo aquel vasto ejército, con grandes y pequeños por igual, oficiales y reclutas.
He aquí el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos desgajará el ramo con fortaleza: y los de grande altura serán cortados, y los altos serán humillados.
Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.
Behold, the Lord, GOD of Armies, will lop the boughs with terror. The tall will be cut down, and the lofty will be brought low.
Él, el Poderoso, truncará al enemigo como el hacha del leñador corta los árboles del bosque en el Líbano.
Y cortará con hierro la espesura del bosque, y el Líbano caerá con fortaleza.
And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
He will cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon will fall by the Mighty One.
