1¡Ah, tierra que está más allá de las cabeceras del Nilo, donde los alados botes de vela se deslizan por el río!
2¡Tierra que en rápidas embarcaciones envía embajadores Nilo abajo, vuelvan a ti veloces mensajeros! ¡Oh vigorosa y ágil nación temida por doquier, nación conquistadora y destructora cuyo país está dividido por el Alto Nilo! Este es el mensaje para ti:
3Cuando se alce mi estandarte de batalla sobre el monte, ¡sépase notificado el mundo entero! Cuando suene la trompeta, ¡escuchen!
4Porque esto me ha dicho el Señor: «Que avance ahora tu poderoso ejército contra la tierra de Israel». Dios observará impasible desde su templo en Jerusalén, sereno como en placentero día estival o en hermosa mañana de otoño durante la siega.
5Pero antes que lancen el ataque y mientras estén madurando sus planes como uvas, él los cortará como con podadora. Podará los zarcillos que se extienden.
6Tu poderoso ejército quedará muerto en el campo para que lo devoren las aves del monte y las fieras salvajes. Los buitres andarán desgarrando cadáveres todo el verano y las fieras roerán huesos todo el invierno.
7Pero vendrá el tiempo en que aquella vigorosa y potente nación terror de todos, lejanos y cercanos, (aquella nación conquistadora y destructora, cuya tierra dividen los ríos), traerá ofrendas al Señor Todopoderoso en Jerusalén, donde él ha puesto su nombre.

1¡AY de la tierra que hace sombra con las alas, que está tras los ríos de Etiopía;
2Que envía mensajeros por la mar, y en navíos de junco sobre las aguas! Andad, ligeros mensajeros, á la gente tirada y repelada, al pueblo asombroso desde su principio y después; gente harta de esperar y hollada, cuya tierra destruyeron los ríos.
3Vosotros, todos los moradores del mundo y habitantes de la tierra, cuando levantará bandera en los montes, la veréis; y oiréis cuando tocará trompeta.
4Porque Jehová me dijo así: Reposaréme, y miraré desde mi morada, como sol claro después de la lluvia, como nube de rocío en el calor de la tierra.
5Porque antes de la siega, cuando el fruto fuere perfecto, y pasada la flor fueren madurando los frutos, entonces podará con podaderas los ramitos, y cortará y quitará las ramas.
6Y serán dejados todos á las aves de los montes, y á las bestias de la tierra; sobre ellos tendrán el verano las aves, é invernarán todas las bestias de la tierra.
7En aquel tiempo será traído presente á Jehová de los ejércitos, el pueblo tirado y repelado, pueblo asombroso desde su principio y después; gente harta de esperar y hollada, cuya tierra destruyeron los ríos; al lugar del nombre de Jehová de los ejércitos, al monte de Sión.

1Woe to the land shadowing with wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia:
2That sendeth ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of bulrushes upon the waters, saying, Go, ye swift messengers, to a nation scattered and peeled, to a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!
3All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear ye.
4For so the LORD said unto me, I will take my rest, and I will consider in my dwelling place like a clear heat upon herbs, and like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.
5For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away and cut down the branches.
6They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.
7In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning hitherto; a nation meted out and trodden under foot, whose land the rivers have spoiled, to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.
World English Bible
1Ah, the land of the rustling of wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia;
2that sends ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels of papyrus on the waters, saying, “Go, you swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth, to a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide!”
3All you inhabitants of the world, and you dwellers on the earth, when a banner is lifted up on the mountains, look! When the trumpet is blown, listen!
4For the LORD said to me, “I will be still, and I will see in my dwelling place, like clear heat in sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.”
5For before the harvest, when the blossom is over, and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and he will cut down and take away the spreading branches.
6They will be left together for the ravenous birds of the mountains, and for the animals of the earth. The ravenous birds will eat them in the summer, and all the animals of the earth will eat them in the winter.
7In that time, a present will be brought to the LORD of Armies from a people tall and smooth, even from a people awesome from their beginning onward, a nation that measures out and treads down, whose land the rivers divide, to the place of the name of the LORD of Armies, Mount Zion.
