Isaías 1

Oíd, ¡oh cielos!, y tú, ¡oh tierra!, presta toda tu atención; pues el Señor es quien habla. He criado hijos, dice, y los he engrandecido, y ellos me han menospreciado.

VISIÓN de Isaías hijo de Amoz, la cual vió sobre Judá y Jerusalem, en días de Uzzías, Jotham, Achâz y Ezechîas, reyes de Judá.

Hasta el buey reconoce a su dueño, y el asno el pesebre de su amo; pero Israel no me reconoce, y mi pueblo no entiende mi voz.

Oid, cielos, y escucha tú, tierra; porque habla Jehová: Crié hijos, y engrandecílos, y ellos se rebelaron contra mí.

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

¡Ay de la nación pecadora, del pueblo lleno de iniquidades, de la raza malvada, de los hijos desgarrados! Han abandonado al Señor, han blasfemado del Santo de Israel, le han vuelto las espaldas.

El buey conoce á su dueño, y el asno el pesebre de su señor: Israel no conoce, mi pueblo no tiene entendimiento.

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

¿De qué servirá el descargar yo nuevos golpes sobre vosotros, si obstinados añadís siempre pecados sobre pecados? Toda cabeza está enferma, y todo corazón doliente.

¡Oh gente pecadora, pueblo cargado de maldad, generación de malignos, hijos depravados! Dejaron á Jehová, provocaron á ira al Santo de Israel, tornáronse atrás.

Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken the LORD. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.

Desde la planta del pie hasta la coronilla de la cabeza no hay en él cosa sana, sino heridas, y moretones, y llaga corrompida que no ha sido curada, ni vendada, ni suavizada con bálsamo.

¿Para qué habéis de ser castigados aún? todavía os rebelaréis. Toda cabeza está enferma, y todo corazón doliente.

Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

Vuestra tierra está desierta, incendiadas vuestras ciudades, a vuestra vista devoran los extranjeros vuestras posesiones, y a manera de enemigos las devastan.

Desde la planta del pie hasta la cabeza no hay en él cosa ilesa, sino herida, hinchazón y podrida llaga: no están curadas, ni vendadas, ni suavizadas con aceite.

From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

Y la hija de Sión, o Jerusalén , quedará como cabaña de una viña, como choza de un melonar, y como una ciudad tomada por asalto.

Vuestra tierra está destruída, vuestras ciudades puestas á fuego, vuestra tierra delante de vosotros comida de extranjeros, y asolada como asolamiento de extraños.

Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

De suerte que si el Señor Dios de los ejércitos no hubiese conservado alguno de nuestro linaje, hubiéramos corrido la misma suerte de Sodoma, y en todo semejantes a Gomorra.

Y queda la hija de Sión como choza en viña, y como cabaña en melonar, como ciudad asolada.

And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

Oíd la palabra del Señor, ¡oh príncipes de Judá que imitáis a los reyes de Sodoma! Escucha atento la ley de nuestro Dios, tú, ¡oh pueblo semejante al de Gomorra!

Si Jehová de los ejércitos no hubiera hecho que nos quedasen muy cortos residuos, como Sodoma fuéramos, y semejantes á Gomorra.

Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

¿De qué me sirve a mí, dice el Señor, la muchedumbre de vuestras víctimas? Ya me tienen fastidiado. Yo no gusto de los holocaustos de carneros, ni de la gordura de los bueyes, ni de la sangre de los becerros, de los corderos y de los machos de cabrío.

Príncipes de Sodoma, oid la palabra de Jehová; escuchad la ley de nuestro Dios, pueblo de Gomorra.

Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

Hear the LORD’s word, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!

Cuando os presentáis ante mi acatamiento, ¿quién os ha mandado llevar semejantes dones en vuestras manos, para pasearos por mis atrios?

¿Para qué á mí, dice Jehová, la multitud de vuestros sacrificios? Harto estoy de holocaustos de carneros, y de sebo de animales gruesos: no quiero sangre de bueyes, ni de ovejas, ni de machos cabríos.

To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

“What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?”, says the LORD. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed animals. I don’t delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of male goats.

No me ofrezcáis ya más sacrificios inútilmente, pues abomino del incienso. El novilunio, el sábado y las demás fiestas vuestras no puedo ya sufrirlas más tiempo, porque en vuestras asambleas reina la iniquidad.

¿Quién demandó esto de vuestras manos, cuando vinieseis á presentaros delante de mí, para hollar mis atrios?

When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

Vuestras calendas y vuestras solemnidades son por lo mismo odiosas a mi alma; las tengo aborrecidas, cansado estoy de aguantarlas.

No me traigáis más vano presente: el perfume me es abominación: luna nueva y sábado, el convocar asambleas, no las puedo sufrir: son iniquidad vuestras solemnidades.

Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me. New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations— I can’t stand evil assemblies.

Y así cuando levantaréis las manos hacia mí yo apartaré mi vista de vosotros; y cuantas más oraciones me hiciereis, tanto menos os escucharé; porque vuestras manos están llenas de sangre.

Vuestras lunas nuevas y vuestras solemnidades tiene aborrecidas mi alma: me son gravosas; cansado estoy de llevarlas.

Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

Lavaos, pues, purificaos, apartad de mis ojos la malignidad de vuestros pensamientos, cesad de obrar mal,

Cuando extendiereis vuestras manos, yo esconderé de vosotros mis ojos: asimismo cuando multiplicareis la oración, yo no oiré: llenas están de sangre vuestras manos.

And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

aprended a hacer bien, buscad lo que es justo, socorred al oprimido, haced justicia al huérfano, amparad a la viuda.

Lavad, limpiaos; quitad la iniquidad de vuestras obras de ante mis ojos; dejad de hacer lo malo:

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Wash yourselves. Make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes. Cease to do evil.

Y entonces venid y argüidme, dice el Señor: Aunque vuestros pecados os hayan teñido como la grana, quedarán vuestras almas blancas como la nieve; y aunque fuesen teñidas de encarnado como el rojo, se volverán del color de la lana más blanca.

Aprended á hacer bien; buscad juicio, restituid al agraviado, oid en derecho al huérfano, amparad á la viuda.

Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Defend the fatherless. Plead for the widow.”

Como queráis, y me escuchéis, seréis alimentados de los frutos de vuestra tierra.

Venid luego, dirá Jehová, y estemos á cuenta: si vuestros pecados fueren como la grana, como la nieve serán emblanquecidos: si fueren rojos como el carmesí, vendrán á ser como blanca lana.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Pero si no quisiereis, y provocareis mi indignación, la espada de los enemigos traspasará vuestra garganta; pues así lo ha dicho el Señor por su propia boca.

Si quisiereis y oyereis, comeréis el bien de la tierra:

If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

¿Cómo la ciudad fiel, y llena de juicio, se ha convertido en una ramera? Ella fue en otro tiempo alcázar de justicia, y ahora lo es de homicidios.

Si no quisiereis y fuereis rebeldes, seréis consumidos á espada: porque la boca de Jehová lo ha dicho.

But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

but if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured with the sword; for the LORD’s mouth has spoken it.”

Tu plata se ha convertido en escoria, y tu vino se ha adulterado con el agua.

¿Cómo te has tornado ramera, oh ciudad fiel? Llena estuvo de juicio, en ella habitó equidad; mas ahora, homicidas.

How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of justice. Righteousness lodged in her, but now there are murderers.

Tus magistrados son desleales, y van a medias con los ladrones; todos ellos gustan de regalos; corren tras el interés; no hacen justicia al huérfano, y no encuentra apoyo en ellos la causa de la viuda.

Tu plata se ha tornado escorias, tu vino mezclado está con agua.

Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water.

Por esto dice el Señor Dios de los ejércitos, el Dios fuerte de Israel: ¡Ay cómo tomaré satisfacción de mis contrarios, y venganza de mis enemigos!

Tus príncipes, prevaricadores y compañeros de ladrones: todos aman las dádivas, y van tras las recompensas: no oyen en juicio al huérfano, ni llega á ellos la causa de la viuda.

Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes and follows after rewards. They don’t defend the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.

Y volveré mi mano sobre ti, y acrisolándote quitaré tu escoria, y separaré de ti todo tu estaño.

Por tanto, dice el Señor Jehová de los ejércitos, el Fuerte de Israel: Ea, tomaré satisfacción de mis enemigos, vengaréme de mis adversarios:

Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

Therefore the Lord, GOD of Armies, the Mighty One of Israel, says: “Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself on my enemies.

Y restableceré tus jueces, haciendo que sean tales cuales eran antes, y tus consejeros como lo fueron antiguamente; después de lo cual será llamada ciudad del Justo, ciudad fiel.

Y volveré mi mano sobre ti, y limpiaré hasta lo más puro tus escorias, y quitaré todo tu estaño:

And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

I will turn my hand on you, thoroughly purge away your dross, and will take away all your tin.

Sí, Sión será redimida en juicio, y repuesta en libertad por justicia.

Y restituiré tus jueces como al principio, y tus consejeros como de primero: entonces te llamarán Ciudad de justicia, Ciudad fiel.

And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called ‘The city of righteousness, a faithful town.’

Pero Dios destruirá desde luego a los malvados y los pecadores, y serán anonadados los que abandonaron al Señor.

Sión con juicio será rescatada, y los convertidos de ella con justicia.

Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

Zion shall be redeemed with justice, and her converts with righteousness.

Los mismos ídolos a quienes sacrificaron serán su mayor confusión; y os avergonzaréis de los jardines que habéis escogido,

Mas los rebeldes y pecadores á una serán quebrantados, y los que dejan á Jehová serán consumidos.

And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

cuando fuereis lo mismo que un alcornoque que ha quedado sin hojas, y como un huerto sin agua.

Entonces os avergonzarán los olmos que amasteis, y os afrentarán los bosques que escogisteis.

For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

Y vuestra resistencia o fortaleza será igual a la pavesa de la estopa arrimada a la lumbre, y vuestras obras como una chispa: Uno y otro arderán en el fuego que nadie apagará.

Porque seréis como el olmo que se le cae la hoja, y como huerto que le faltan las aguas.

For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

Cosas que vio Isaías, hijo de Amós, tocante a Jerusalén y a Judá.

Y el fuerte será como estopa, y lo que hizo como centella; y ambos serán encendidos juntamente, y no habrá quien apague.

And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

The strong will be like tinder, and his work like a spark. They will both burn together, and no one will quench them.”
