1Un mensaje sobre el desierto junto al mar. Como los vientos de tormenta que atraviesan el Néguev, algo viene del desierto, de una tierra de terror-
2una visión horripilante que me ha sido explicada. El traidor sigue traicionando; el destructor sigue destruyendo. Elamitas y medos, adelante, aataquen y sitien Babilonia, porque estoy poniendo fin a todo el dolor que ha causado.
3Por ello, mi cuerpo está lleno de agonía. Me abruma el dolor, como el de una mujer que da a luz. Me confunde lo que oigo; me angustia lo que veo.
4Mi mente vacila; tiemblo de pánico. La noche que esperaba se ha convertido en algo aterrador.
5Ponen la mesa, extienden las alfombras, comen y beben... “¡Levántense, oficiales! Preparen sus escudos para la batalla!”
6Esto es lo que me dijo el Señor: “¡Ve! Haz que un vigía vigile, y asegúrate de que informe de lo que ve.
7Cuando vea que se acercan carros tirados por parejas de caballos, jinetes en asnos y en camellos, que vigile con mucho cuidado, prestando mucha atención”.
8Entonces el vigía gritó: “Señor, he estado aquí en la atalaya día tras día; noche tras noche he permanecido en mi puesto.
9¡Ahora mira! Viene un hombre en un carro con un par de caballos”. Y dijo: “¡Babilonia ha caído, ha caído! Todos los ídolos de sus dioses yacen destrozados en el suelo”.
10Mi pobre pueblo oprimido y tan maltratado, les he contado lo que he oído del Señor Todopoderoso, el Dios de Israel.
11Un mensaje sobre Edom. Una voz me llama desde Seir, preguntando: “Vigilante, ¿qué hora es? Vigilante, ¿qué hora de la noche es?”
12El vigilante responde: “La mañana está llegando, pero pronto volverá la noche. Si quieres volver a preguntar, vuelve y pregunta”.
13Un mensaje sobre Arabia. Caravanas de Dedán, pasen la noche en los arbustos.
14Pueblo de Tema, lleven agua a los sedientos, salid al encuentro de los refugiados con comida.
15Huyen de una batalla feroz, de espadas, de espadas desenvainadas, de arcos y flechas.
16Esto es lo que me dijo el Señor: “Dentro de un año, igual que un trabajador contratado cuenta exactamente los años, toda la gloria de Cedar desaparecerá.
17Sólo quedarán unos pocos de los arqueros, los guerreros de Cedar”. El Señor, el Dios de Israel, ha hablado.

1CARGA del desierto de la mar. Como los torbellinos que pasan por el desierto en la región del mediodía, así vienen de la tierra horrenda.
2Visión dura me ha sido mostrada. El prevaricador prevarica, y el destructor destruye. Sube, Persa; cerca, Medo. Todo su gemido hice cesar.
3Por tanto mis lomos se han llenado de dolor; angustias se apoderaron de mí, como angustias de mujer de parto: agobiéme oyendo, y al ver heme espantado.
4Pasmóse mi corazón, el horror me ha intimidado; la noche de mi deseo se me tornó en espanto.
5Pon la mesa, mira del atalaya, come, bebe: levantaos, príncipes, ungid el escudo.
6Porque el Señor me dijo así: Ve, pon centinela que haga saber lo que viere.
7Y vió un carro de un par de caballeros, un carro de asno, y un carro de camello. Luego miró muy más atentamente.
8Y gritó como un león: Señor, sobre la atalaya estoy yo continuamente de día, y las noches enteras sobre mi guarda:
9Y he aquí este carro de hombres viene, un par de caballeros. Después habló, y dijo: Cayó, cayó Babilonia; y todos los ídolos de sus dioses quebrantó en tierra.
10Trilla mía, y paja de mi era: os he dicho lo que oí de Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel.
11Carga de Duma. Danme voces de Seir: Guarda, ¿qué de la noche? Guarda, ¿qué de la noche?
12El guarda respondió: La mañana viene, y después la noche: si preguntareis, preguntad; volved, venid.
13Carga sobre Arabia. En el monte tendréis la noche en Arabia, oh caminantes de Dedanim.
14Salid á encontrar al sediento; llevadle aguas, moradores de tierra de Tema, socorred con su pan al que huye.
15Porque de la presencia de las espadas huyen, de la presencia de la espada desnuda, de la presencia del arco entesado, de la presencia del peso de la batalla.
16Porque así me ha dicho Jehová: De aquí á un año, semejante á años de mozo de soldada, toda la gloria de Cedar será deshecha;
17Y las reliquias del número de los valientes flecheros, hijos de Cedar, serán apocadas: porque Jehová Dios de Israel lo ha dicho.

1The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.
2A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.
3Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.
4My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.
5Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.
6For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.
7And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:
8And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:
9And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.
10O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
11The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?
12The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.
13The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.
14The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
15For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
16For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:
17And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.

1The burden of the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the South sweep through, it comes from the wilderness, from an awesome land.
2A grievous vision is declared to me. The treacherous man deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, Elam; attack! I have stopped all of Media’s sighing.
3Therefore my thighs are filled with anguish. Pains have seized me, like the pains of a woman in labor. I am in so much pain that I can’t hear. I am so dismayed that I can’t see.
4My heart flutters. Horror has frightened me. The twilight that I desired has been turned into trembling for me.
5They prepare the table. They set the watch. They eat. They drink. Rise up, you princes, oil the shield!
6For the Lord said to me, “Go, set a watchman. Let him declare what he sees.
7When he sees a troop, horsemen in pairs, a troop of donkeys, a troop of camels, he shall listen diligently with great attentiveness.”
8He cried like a lion: “Lord, I stand continually on the watchtower in the daytime, and every night I stay at my post.
9Behold, here comes a troop of men, horsemen in pairs.” He answered, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the engraved images of her gods are broken to the ground.
10You are my threshing, and the grain of my floor!” That which I have heard from the LORD of Armies, the God of Israel, I have declared to you.
11The burden of Dumah. One calls to me out of Seir, “Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?”
12The watchman said, “The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire. Come back again.”
13The burden on Arabia. You will lodge in the thickets in Arabia, you caravans of Dedanites.
14They brought water to him who was thirsty. The inhabitants of the land of Tema met the fugitives with their bread.
15For they fled away from the swords, from the drawn sword, from the bent bow, and from the heat of battle.
16For the Lord said to me, “Within a year, as a worker bound by contract would count it, all the glory of Kedar will fail,
17and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, will be few; for the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken it.”
