1Siehe, Jehova leert das Land aus und verödet es; und er kehrt seine Oberfläche um und zerstreut seine Bewohner.
2Und wie dem Volke, so ergeht es dem Priester; wie dem Knechte, so seinem Herrn; wie der Magd, so ihrer Gebieterin; wie dem Käufer, so dem Verkäufer; wie dem Leiher, so dem Borger; wie dem Schuldner, so seinem Gläubiger.
3Das Land wird völlig ausgeleert und geplündert; denn Jehova hat dieses Wort geredet.
4Es trauert, es welkt hin das Land; es schmachtet, es welkt hin der Erdkreis; es schmachten hin die Hohen des Volkes im Lande.
5Und die Erde ist entweiht worden unter ihren Bewohnern; denn sie haben die Gesetze übertreten, die Satzung überschritten, gebrochen den ewigen Bund.
6Darum hat der Fluch die Erde verzehrt, und es büßen ihre Bewohner; darum sind verbrannt der Erde Bewohner, und wenig Menschen bleiben übrig.
7Es trauert der Most, es schmachtet der Weinstock; es seufzen alle, die fröhlichen Herzens waren;
8es feiert die Freude der Tamburine, aufgehört hat der Frohlockenden Getümmel, es feiert die Freude der Laute;
9man trinkt keinen Wein mehr unter Gesang, bitter schmeckt das starke Getränk denen, die es trinken.
10Zertrümmert ist die Stadt der Öde, verschlossen jedes Haus, so daß niemand hineingeht.
11Klagegeschrei ob des Weines ist auf den Straßen; untergegangen ist alle Freude, weggezogen die Wonne der Erde.
12Von der Stadt ist nur eine Wüste übriggeblieben, und in Trümmer zerschlagen ward das Tor.
13Denn so wird es geschehen inmitten der Erde, in der Mitte der Völker: wie beim Abschlagen der Oliven, wie bei der Nachlese, wenn die Weinernte zu Ende ist.
14Jene werden ihre Stimme erheben, werden jubeln. Ob der Majestät Jehovas jauchzen sie vom Meere her:
15Darum gebet Jehova Ehre im Osten, auf den Inseln des Meeres dem Namen Jehovas, des Gottes Israels!
16Vom Ende der Erde her hören wir Gesänge: “Herrlichkeit dem Gerechten!” Da sprach ich: Ich vergehe, ich vergehe, wehe mir! Räuber rauben, und räuberisch raubend rauben sie.
17Grauen und Grube und Garn über dich, Bewohner der Erde!
18Und es geschieht, wer vor der Stimme des Grauens flieht, fällt in die Grube; und wer aus der Grube heraufsteigt, wird im Garne gefangen. Denn die Fenster in der Höhe tun sich auf, und es erbeben die Grundfesten der Erde.
19Die Erde klafft auseinander, die Erde zerberstet, die Erde schwankt hin und her;
20die Erde taumelt wie ein Trunkener und schaukelt wie eine Hängematte; und schwer lastet auf ihr ihre Übertretung: und sie fällt und steht nicht wieder auf.
21Und es wird geschehen an jenem Tage, da wird Jehova heimsuchen die Heerschar der Höhe in der Höhe, und die Könige der Erde auf der Erde.
22Und sie werden in die Grube eingesperrt, wie man Gefangene einsperrt, und in den Kerker eingeschlossen; und nach vielen Tagen werden sie heimgesucht werden.
23Und der Mond wird mit Scham bedeckt und die Sonne beschämt werden; denn Jehova der Heerscharen herrscht als König auf dem Berge Zion und in Jerusalem, und vor seinen Ältesten ist Herrlichkeit.

1HE aquí que Jehová vacía la tierra, y la desnuda, y trastorna su haz, y hace esparcir sus moradores.
2Y será como el pueblo, tal el sacerdote; como el siervo, tal su señor; como la criada, tal su señora; tal el que compra, como el que vende; tal el que da emprestado, como el que toma prestado; tal el que da á logro, como el que lo recibe.
3Del todo será vaciada la tierra, y enteramente saqueada; porque Jehová ha pronunciado esta palabra.
4Destruyóse, cayó la tierra; enfermó, cayó el mundo; enfermaron los altos pueblos de la tierra.
5Y la tierra se inficionó bajo sus moradores; porque traspasaron las leyes, falsearon el derecho, rompieron el pacto sempiterno.
6Por esta causa la maldición consumió la tierra, y sus moradores fueron asolados; por esta causa fueron consumidos los habitantes de la tierra, y se disminuyeron los hombres.
7Perdióse el vino, enfermó la vid, gimieron todos los que eran alegres de corazón.
8Cesó el regocijo de los panderos, acabóse el estruendo de los que se huelgan, paró la alegría del arpa.
9No beberán vino con cantar: la bebida será amarga á los que la bebieren.
10Quebrantada está la ciudad de la vanidad; toda casa se ha cerrado, porque no entre nadie.
11Voces sobre el vino en las plazas; todo gozo se oscureció, desterróse la alegría de la tierra.
12En la ciudad quedó soledad, y con asolamiento fué herida la puerta.
13Porque así será en medio de la tierra, en medio de los pueblos, como aceituno sacudido, como rebuscos acabada la vendimia.
14Estos alzarán su voz, cantarán gozosos en la grandeza de Jehová, desde la mar darán voces.
15Glorificad por esto á Jehová en los valles: en islas de la mar sea nombrado Jehová Dios de Israel.
16De lo postrero de la tierra oímos salmos: Gloria al justo. Y yo dije: ¡Mi flaqueza, mi flaqueza, ay de mí! Prevaricadores han prevaricado; y han prevaricado con prevaricación de desleales.
17Terror y sima y lazo sobre ti, oh morador de la tierra.
18Y acontecerá que el que huirá de la voz del terror, caerá en la sima; y el que saliere de en medio de la sima, será preso del lazo: porque de lo alto se abrieron ventanas, y temblarán los fundamentos de la tierra.
19Quebrantaráse del todo la tierra, enteramente desmenuzada será la tierra, en gran manera será la tierra conmovida.
20Temblará la tierra vacilando como un borracho, y será removida como una choza; y agravaráse sobre ella su pecado, y caerá, y nunca más se levantará.
21Y acontecerá en aquel día, que Jehová visitará sobre el ejército sublime en lo alto, y sobre los reyes de la tierra que hay sobre la tierra.
22Y serán amontonados como se amontonan encarcelados en mazmorra, y en prisión quedarán encerrados, y serán visitados después de muchos días.
23La luna se avergonzará, y el sol se confundirá, cuando Jehová de los ejércitos reinare en el monte de Sión, y en Jerusalem, y delante de sus ancianos fuere glorioso.

1Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
2And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
3The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
4The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.
5The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
6Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
7The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
8The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
9They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
10The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
11There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
12In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
13When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
14They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.
15Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
16From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.
17Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
18And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
19The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
20The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
21And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
23Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
World English Bible
1Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty, makes it waste, turns it upside down, and scatters its inhabitants.
2It will be as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the creditor, so with the debtor; as with the taker of interest, so with the giver of interest.
3The earth will be utterly emptied and utterly laid waste; for the LORD has spoken this word.
4The earth mourns and fades away. The world languishes and fades away. The lofty people of the earth languish.
5The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.
6Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, and those who dwell therein are found guilty. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left.
7The new wine mourns. The vine languishes. All the merry-hearted sigh.
8The mirth of tambourines ceases. The sound of those who rejoice ends. The joy of the harp ceases.
9They will not drink wine with a song. Strong drink will be bitter to those who drink it.
10The confused city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
11There is a crying in the streets because of the wine. All joy is darkened. The mirth of the land is gone.
12The city is left in desolation, and the gate is struck with destruction.
13For it will be so within the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.
14These shall lift up their voice. They will shout for the majesty of the LORD. They cry aloud from the sea.
15Therefore glorify the LORD in the east, even the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea!
16From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs. Glory to the righteous! But I said, “I pine away! I pine away! woe is me!” The treacherous have dealt treacherously. Yes, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously.
17Fear, the pit, and the snare are on you who inhabit the earth.
18It will happen that he who flees from the noise of the fear will fall into the pit; and he who comes up out of the middle of the pit will be taken in the snare; for the windows on high are opened, and the foundations of the earth tremble.
19The earth is utterly broken. The earth is torn apart. The earth is shaken violently.
20The earth will stagger like a drunken man, and will sway back and forth like a hammock. Its disobedience will be heavy on it, and it will fall and not rise again.
21It will happen in that day that the LORD will punish the army of the high ones on high, and the kings of the earth on the earth.
22They will be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and will be shut up in the prison; and after many days they will be visited.
23Then the moon will be confounded, and the sun ashamed; for the LORD of Armies will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem; and glory will be before his elders.
