Isaías 2

1*La parole qu’Ésaïe, fils d’Amots, vit, touchant Juda et Jérusalem.
2Et il arrivera, à la fin des jours, que la montagne de la maison de l’Éternel sera établie sur le sommet des montagnes, et sera élevée au-dessus des collines ; et toutes les nations y afflueront ;
3et beaucoup de peuples iront, et diront : Venez, et montons à la montagne de l’Éternel, à la maison du Dieu de Jacob, et il nous instruira de ses voies, et nous marcherons dans ses sentiers. Car de Sion sortira la loi, et de Jérusalem, la parole de l’Éternel.
4Et il jugera au milieu des nations, et prononcera le droit à beaucoup de peuples ; et de leurs épées ils forgeront des socs, et de leurs lances, des serpes : une nation ne lèvera pas l’épée contre une [autre] nation, et on n’apprendra plus la guerre.
5Venez, maison de Jacob, et marchons dans la lumière de l’Éternel !
6Car tu as abandonné ton peuple, la maison de Jacob, parce qu’ils sont remplis de ce qui vient de l’orient, et sont des pronostiqueurs, comme les Philistins, et s’allient avec les enfants des étrangers.
7Et leur pays est rempli d’argent et d’or, et il n’y a pas de fin à leurs trésors ; et leur pays est rempli de chevaux, et il n’y a pas de fin à leurs chars ;
8et leur pays est rempli d’idoles : ils se prosternent devant l’ouvrage de leurs mains, devant ce que leurs doigts ont fait.
9Et l’homme du peuple se courbera, et le grand sera abaissé : et ne leur pardonne pas !
10Entre dans le rocher, et cache-toi dans la poussière, de devant la terreur de l’Éternel et de devant la magnificence de sa majesté.
11Les yeux hautains de l’homme seront abaissés, et la hauteur des hommes sera humiliée, et l’Éternel seul sera haut élevé en ce jour-là.
12Car il y a un jour de l’Éternel des armées contre tout ce qui s’exalte et s’élève, et contre tout ce qui est haut, et ils seront abaissés ;
13et contre tous les cèdres du Liban, hauts et élevés, et contre tous les chênes de Basan ;
14et contre toutes les hautes montagnes, et contre toutes les collines élevées ;
15et contre toute haute tour, et contre toute muraille forte ;
16et contre tous les navires de Tarsis, et contre tous les objets d’art agréables :
17et la hauteur de l’homme sera humiliée, et l’élévation des hommes sera abaissée, et l’Éternel seul sera haut élevé en ce jour-là ;
18et les idoles disparaîtront entièrement.
19Et on entrera dans les cavernes des rochers, et dans les trous de la terre, de devant la terreur de l’Éternel, et de devant la magnificence de sa majesté, quand il se lèvera pour frapper d’épouvante la terre.
20En ce jour-là, l’homme jettera ses idoles d’argent et ses idoles d’or, qu’il s’était faites pour se prosterner [devant elles], aux rats et aux chauves-souris,
21pour entrer dans les fentes des rochers et dans les creux des escarpements, de devant la terreur de l’Éternel et de devant la magnificence de sa majesté, quand il se lèvera pour frapper d’épouvante la terre.
22Finissez-en avec l’homme, dont le souffle est dans ses narines, car quel cas doit-on faire de lui ?

1LO que vió Isaías, hijo de Amoz, tocante á Judá y á Jerusalem.
2Y acontecerá en lo postrero de los tiempos, que será confirmado el monte de la casa de Jehová por cabeza de los montes, y será ensalzado sobre los collados, y correrán á él todas las gentes.
3Y vendrán muchos pueblos, y dirán: Venid, y subamos al monte de Jehová, á la casa del Dios de Jacob; y nos enseñará en sus caminos, y caminaremos por sus sendas. Porque de Sión saldrá la ley, y de Jerusalem la palabra de Jehová.
4Y juzgará entre las gentes, y reprenderá á muchos pueblos; y volverán sus espadas en rejas de arado, y sus lanzas en hoces: no alzará espada gente contra gente, ni se ensayarán más para la guerra.
5Venid, oh casa de Jacob, y caminemos á la luz de Jehová.
6Ciertamente tú has dejado tu pueblo, la casa de Jacob, porque son henchidos de oriente, y de agoreros, como los Filisteos; y en hijos ajenos descansan.
7Su tierra está llena de plata y oro, sus tesoros no tienen fin. También está su tierra llena de caballos; ni sus carros tienen número.
8Además está su tierra llena de ídolos, y á la obra de sus manos se han arrodillado, á lo que fabricaron sus dedos.
9Y hase inclinado el hombre, y el varón se ha humillado: por tanto no los perdonarás.
10Métete en la piedra, escóndete en el polvo, de la presencia espantosa de Jehová y del resplandor de su majestad.
11La altivez de los ojos del hombre será abatida, y la soberbia de los hombres será humillada; y Jehová solo será ensalzado en aquel día.
12Porque día de Jehová de los ejércitos vendrá sobre todo soberbio y altivo, y sobre todo ensalzado; y será abatido:
13Y sobre todos los cedros del Líbano altos y sublimes, y sobre todos los alcornoques de Basán;
14Y sobre todos los montes altos, y sobre todos los collados levantados;
15Y sobre toda torre alta, y sobre todo muro fuerte;
16Y sobre todas las naves de Tarsis, y sobre todas pinturas preciadas.
17Y la altivez del hombre será abatida, y la soberbia de los hombres será humillada; y solo Jehová será ensalzado en aquel día.
18Y quitará totalmente los ídolos.
19Y meteránse en las cavernas de las peñas, y en las aberturas de la tierra, por la presencia espantosa de Jehová, y por el resplandor de su majestad, cuando se levantare él para herir la tierra.
20Aquel día arrojará el hombre, á los topos y murciélagos, sus ídolos de plata y sus ídolos de oro, que le hicieron para que adorase;
21Y se entrarán en las hendiduras de las rocas y en las cavernas de las peñas, por la presencia formidable de Jehová, y por el resplandor de su majestad, cuando se levantare para herir la tierra.
22Dejaos del hombre, cuyo hálito está en su nariz; porque ¿de qué es él estimado?

1The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
6Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.
7Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:
8Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:
9And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.
10Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.
11The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
12For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
13And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,
14And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,
15And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,
16And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.
17And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
18And the idols he shall utterly abolish.
19And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
20In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
21To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
22Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?

1This is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2It shall happen in the latter days, that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.
3Many peoples shall go and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths.” For the law shall go out of Zion, and the LORD’s word from Jerusalem.
4He will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples. They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5House of Jacob, come, and let’s walk in the light of the LORD.
6For you have forsaken your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled from the east, with those who practice divination like the Philistines, and they clasp hands with the children of foreigners.
7Their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures. Their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots.
8Their land also is full of idols. They worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.
9Man is brought low, and mankind is humbled; therefore don’t forgive them.
10Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty.
11The lofty looks of man will be brought low, the arrogance of men will be bowed down, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.
12For there will be a day of the LORD of Armies for all that is proud and arrogant, and for all that is lifted up, and it shall be brought low—
13for all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, for all the oaks of Bashan,
14for all the high mountains, for all the hills that are lifted up,
15for every lofty tower, for every fortified wall,
16for all the ships of Tarshish, and for all pleasant imagery.

18The idols shall utterly pass away.
19Men shall go into the caves of the rocks, and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.
20In that day, men shall cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which have been made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats,
21to go into the caverns of the rocks, and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.
22Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?
