8»Mi señor, el rey de Asiria, quiere hacer contigo una pequeña apuesta: ¿A que en tu ejército no te quedan dos mil hombres? Si te quedan, él te dará dos mil caballos para que ellos los monten. Con tan insignificante ejército, ¿cómo crees poder enfrentarte siquiera al más pequeño escuadrón de mi señor? Porque de Egipto no obtendrás socorro.

8Ahora pues yo te ruego que des rehenes al rey de Asiria mi señor, y yo te daré dos mil caballos, si pudieres tú dar caballeros que cabalguen sobre ellos.

8Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
