CONSOLAOS, consolaos, pueblo mío, dice vuestro Dios.
Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.
Hablen tiernamente a Jerusalén y díganle que han terminado sus días de dolor y amargura. Sus pecados han sido perdonados, y el Señor le dará el doble de bendiciones comparado con el castigo que ha recibido.
Hablad al corazón de Jerusalem: decidle á voces que su tiempo es ya cumplido, que su pecado es perdonado; que doble ha recibido de la mano de Jehová por todos sus pecados.
Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.

¡Escuchen! Oigo a alguien gritar: ―¡Abran para el Señor un camino derecho y parejo a través del desierto!
Voz que clama en el desierto: Barred camino á Jehová: enderezad calzada en la soledad á nuestro Dios.
The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the way of the LORD in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God.
¡Rellenen los valles y nivelen las colinas, enderecen las sendas torcidas y allanen los sitios ásperos del camino!
Todo valle sea alzado, y bájese todo monte y collado; y lo torcido se enderece, y lo áspero se allane.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

¡La humanidad entera contemplará la gloria del Señor! El Señor lo ha dicho y se cumplirá.

La voz ahora dice: ―¡Grita! ―¿Qué debo gritar? —pregunté. ―Di a gritos que todo hombre y mujer es como hierba que se marchita, y que toda su belleza se aja como las flores que languidecen.
Voz que decía: Da voces. Y yo respondí: ¿Qué tengo de decir á voces? Toda carne es hierba, y toda su gloria como flor del campo:

La hierba se seca, la flor se marchita bajo el aliento de Dios. Igual le ocurre al frágil ser humano.
La hierba se seca, y la flor se cae; porque el viento de Jehová sopló en ella: ciertamente hierba es el pueblo.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

La hierba se seca, y se marchita la flor, pero la Palabra de nuestro Dios permanecerá viva para siempre.

¡Oh heraldo de buenas noticias, grítale a Jerusalén desde la cumbre de los montes! ¡Grítale más alto! ¡Sin temor! Diles a las ciudades de Judá: «¡Ya viene Dios!».
Súbete sobre un monte alto, anunciadora de Sión; levanta fuertemente tu voz, anunciadora de Jerusalem; levántala, no temas; di á las ciudades de Judá: ¡Veis aquí el Dios vuestro!
O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
You who tell good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who tell good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with strength! Lift it up! Don’t be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold, your God!”
Sí, el Señor Dios viene con gran potencia, gobernará con tremendo poder. Miren, trae consigo su recompensa, a cada cual le dará según sus hechos.
He aquí que el Señor Jehová vendrá con fortaleza, y su brazo se enseñoreará: he aquí que su salario viene con él, y su obra delante de su rostro.
Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

Como pastor apacentará su rebaño, llevará en brazos los corderillos y suavemente guiará las ovejas con cría.

¿Qué otro ha tenido los océanos en sus manos y medido el cielo con su regla? ¿Qué otro conoce el peso de la tierra y pesa las montañas y colinas?
¿Quién midió las aguas con su puño, y aderezó los cielos con su palmo, y con tres dedos allegó el polvo de la tierra, y pesó los montes con balanza, y con peso los collados?

¿Quién puede dar consejos al Espíritu del Señor o servirle de maestro o consejero?

¿Ha necesitado él alguna vez consejo de alguien? ¿Ha requerido él instrucción respecto a lo conveniente y lo mejor?
¿A quién demandó consejo para ser avisado? ¿Quién le enseñó el camino del juicio, ó le enseñó ciencia, ó le mostró la senda de la prudencia?
With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

No, porque comparados con él, los pueblos del mundo nada son, son apenas una gota en el mar o polvo en la balanza. Él levanta las islas como si no pesaran nada.
He aquí que las naciones son reputadas como la gota de un acetre, y como el orín del peso: he aquí que hace desaparecer las islas como polvo.
Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

Ni todos los bosques del Líbano contienen leña suficiente para consumir un sacrificio que baste para honrarlo, ni son suficientes todos sus animales para ofrecérselos a nuestro Dios.

¿Cómo describir a Dios? ¿Con qué podemos compararlo?
¿A qué pues haréis semejante á Dios, ó qué imagen le compondréis?

¿Con un ídolo? ¿Con una estatuilla hecha de molde, enchapada en oro y con cadenas de plata en torno al pecho?
El artífice apareja la imagen de talla, el platero le extiende el oro, y le funde cadenas de plata.
The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

Quien sea demasiado pobre para comprar dioses así de lujosos, hallará un tronco de árbol sin podrir y pagará para que un hombre le talle el rostro, y el leño se convierte en dios suyo. ¡Un dios que ni siquiera puede moverse!
El pobre escoge, para ofrecerle, madera que no se corrompa; búscase un maestro sabio, que le haga una imagen de talla que no se mueva.
He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
He who is too impoverished for such an offering chooses a tree that will not rot. He seeks a skillful workman to set up a carved image for him that will not be moved.
¿Tan ignorantes son? ¿Tan sordos son a las palabras de Dios, a las palabras que él emitió antes que existieran los mundos? ¿Nunca han oído ni entendido?
¿No sabéis? ¿no habéis oído? ¿nunca os lo han dicho desde el principio? ¿no habéis sido enseñados desde que la tierra se fundó?
Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

Dios es quien está sentado por sobre el círculo de la tierra. ¡La gente aquí abajo ha de parecerle saltamontes! Dios es quien extiende el cielo como cortina y de él hace su tienda.
El está asentado sobre el globo de la tierra, cuyos moradores son como langostas: él extiende los cielos como una cortina, tiéndelos como una tienda para morar:
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Dios sentencia a los grandes del mundo y los reduce a nada.
El torna en nada los poderosos, y á los que gobiernan la tierra hace como cosa vana.
That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
who brings princes to nothing, who makes the judges of the earth meaningless.
Apenas han comenzado, apenas comienzan a echar raíces cuando sopla sobre ellos, marchitando sus obras, y el viento se los lleva como paja.
Como si nunca fueran plantados, como si nunca fueran sembrados, como si nunca su tronco hubiera tenido raíz en la tierra; así que sopla en ellos se secan, y el torbellino los lleva como hojarascas.
Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
They are planted scarcely. They are sown scarcely. Their stock has scarcely taken root in the ground. He merely blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
¿Con quién me compararán? ¿A quién me dan por igual?, pregunta el Santo.
¿A qué pues me haréis semejante, ó seré asimilado? dice el Santo.

¡Alcen los ojos a los cielos! Quien creó los planetas y las estrellas, las llama a cada una con nombre cariñoso y las cuenta para cerciorarse de que ninguna se ha perdido o extraviado.
Levantad en alto vuestros ojos, y mirad quién crió estas cosas: él saca por cuenta su ejército: á todas llama por sus nombres; ninguna faltará: tal es la grandeza de su fuerza, y su poder y virtud.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

¡Oh Jacob, oh Israel! ¿Cómo pueden decir que el Señor no ve sus tribulaciones y no procede con justicia?
¿Por qué dices, oh Jacob, y hablas tú, Israel: Mi camino es escondido de Jehová, y de mi Dios pasó mi juicio?
Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
Why do you say, Jacob, and speak, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God”?
¿No comprenden todavía? ¿Aún no saben que el Dios eterno, el Creador de los sitios más lejanos de la tierra, jamás se fatiga ni desmaya? Nadie puede sondear las profundidades de su entendimiento.
¿No has sabido, no has oído que el Dios del siglo es Jehová, el cual crió los términos de la tierra? No se trabaja, ni se fatiga con cansancio, y su entendimiento no hay quien lo alcance.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
Él da fuerzas al cansado y extenuado, y vigor al débil.
El da esfuerzo al cansado, y multiplica las fuerzas al que no tiene ningunas.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
Hasta los jóvenes quedan sin aliento y los muchachos se dan por vencidos.
Los mancebos se fatigan y se cansan, los mozos flaquean y caen:
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall;
Pero los que esperan en el Señor renovarán sus fuerzas: emprenderán vuelo como si tuvieran alas de águilas, correrán y no se cansarán, caminarán y no desfallecerán.
Mas los que esperan á Jehová tendrán nuevas fuerzas; levantarán las alas como águilas; correrán, y no se cansarán; caminarán, y no se fatigarán.
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
