1“¡Consuela, sí consuela a mi pueblo!” dice tu Dios.
2“Háblale con amor al pueblo de Jerusalén, diciéndole que sus tiempos difíciles han terminado, que sus pecados han sido perdonados y que el Señor les ha pagado dos veces por sus pecados”.
3Se oye una voz que dice: “Preparen el camino al Señor en el desierto, hagan una calzada recta para nuestro Dios a través del desierto.
4Rellenen todos los valles; allanen todos los montes y colinas; allanen el terreno irregular; allanen los lugares escabrosos.
5La gloria del Señor se manifestará, y todos la verán juntos. Esto es lo que ha declarado el Señor”.
6Se oye una voz que dice: “Grítalo”. Pregunté: “¿Qué debo gritar?” “Todos los seres humanos son como la hierba, y toda su confianza es como las flores del campo.
7La hierba se marchita y la flor se desvanece cuando el Señor sopla sobre ellos. Sí, las personas son como la hierba.
8Sin embargo, aunque la hierba se marchite y la flor se desvanezca, la palabra de nuestro Dios perdurará para siempre”.
9Sión, portadora de buenas noticias, sube a un monte alto. Jerusalén, portadora de buenas noticias, levanta tu voz y grita fuerte. ¡No tengas miedo de gritar muy fuerte! Di a los pueblos de Judá: “¡Aquí está tu Dios!”.
10¡Mira! ¡El Señor Dios viene con poder! Gobernará con mano firme. Mira! Trae consigo su recompensa, viene a dar su regalo.
11Cuida de su rebaño como un pastor. Coge a los corderos en brazos y los estrecha contra su pecho. Conduce a los que amamantan a las crías.
12¿Quién ha medido las aguas que tiene en la palma de su mano? ¿Quién ha marcado los cielos con la extensión de su mano? ¿Quién ha calculado la cantidad de polvo de la tierra? ¿Quién ha pesado los montes con una balanza y las colinas con una balanza?
13¿Quién ha medido el Espíritu del Señor, o le ha enseñado lo que debe hacer como su consejero?
14¿A quién acudió el Señor en busca de consejo para ayudarle a entender? ¿Quién le enseñó el bien y el mal? ¿Quién le dio conocimiento y le mostró el camino de la sabiduría?
15Es obvio que las naciones son sólo una gota en un cubo. Son como polvo en una balanza. Puede recoger las islas como si no pesaran nada.
16Toda la madera del Líbano para un fuego y todos sus animales como sacrificio no serían suficientes para un holocausto.
17Para él todas las naciones son como nada. Las considera menos que nada, como si no existieran.
18¿Quién crees que es como Dios? ¿A qué imagen crees que se parece?
19¿Acaso es un ídolo de metal que un artesano funde en un molde, y luego un orfebre lo recubre de oro y le hace cadenas de plata?
20Los que son demasiado pobres para pagar eso eligen madera que no se pudra, y luego buscan a un hábil tallador de madera para que haga un ídolo que no se caiga.
21¿No lo sabes? ¿No te has enterado? ¿No se te ha explicado desde el principio? ¿No has entendido desde que se creó el mundo?
22Dios se sienta en su trono sobre el horizonte de la tierra; los pueblos que la habitan son como saltamontes. Él extiende los cielos como una cortina, los extiende como una tienda para vivir.
23Derriba a los líderes; hace que los gobernantes del mundo sean como nada.
24Apenas si están plantados, apenas si están sembrados, apenas si echan raíces, cuando sopla sobre ellos y se marchitan, y el viento se los lleva como paja.
25“¿Con quién me vas a comparar? ¿Quién es igual a mí?”, pregunta el Santo.
26Mira los cielos. ¿Quién ha creado todo esto? Él dirige las estrellas como un ejército, y llama a cada una por su nombre. Porque tiene un gran poder y una fuerza increíble, no falta ni una sola de ellas.
27¿Por qué hablas así, Jacob, y por qué dices, Israel: “¡El Señor no ve lo que me pasa, y se desentiende de mis derechos!”
28¿No lo sabes? ¿No has oído? El Señor es el Dios eterno, el creador de toda la tierra. Él nunca es débil ni está cansado; no puedes averiguar todo lo que sabe.
29Él da fuerza a los cansados y poder a los impotentes.
30Incluso los jóvenes se debilitan y se cansan; caen cuando están agotados.
31Pero los que confían en el Señor verán renovadas sus fuerzas. Volarán alto con alas como las águilas. Correrán y no se cansarán. Caminarán y no se agotarán.

1CONSOLAOS, consolaos, pueblo mío, dice vuestro Dios.
2Hablad al corazón de Jerusalem: decidle á voces que su tiempo es ya cumplido, que su pecado es perdonado; que doble ha recibido de la mano de Jehová por todos sus pecados.
3Voz que clama en el desierto: Barred camino á Jehová: enderezad calzada en la soledad á nuestro Dios.
4Todo valle sea alzado, y bájese todo monte y collado; y lo torcido se enderece, y lo áspero se allane.
5Y manifestaráse la gloria de Jehová, y toda carne juntamente la verá; que la boca de Jehová habló.
6Voz que decía: Da voces. Y yo respondí: ¿Qué tengo de decir á voces? Toda carne es hierba, y toda su gloria como flor del campo:
7La hierba se seca, y la flor se cae; porque el viento de Jehová sopló en ella: ciertamente hierba es el pueblo.
8Sécase la hierba, cáese la flor: mas la palabra del Dios nuestro permanece para siempre.
9Súbete sobre un monte alto, anunciadora de Sión; levanta fuertemente tu voz, anunciadora de Jerusalem; levántala, no temas; di á las ciudades de Judá: ¡Veis aquí el Dios vuestro!
10He aquí que el Señor Jehová vendrá con fortaleza, y su brazo se enseñoreará: he aquí que su salario viene con él, y su obra delante de su rostro.
11Como pastor apacentará su rebaño; en su brazo cogerá los corderos, y en su seno los llevará; pastoreará suavemente las paridas.
12¿Quién midió las aguas con su puño, y aderezó los cielos con su palmo, y con tres dedos allegó el polvo de la tierra, y pesó los montes con balanza, y con peso los collados?
13¿Quién enseñó al espíritu de Jehová, ó le aconsejo enseñándole?
14¿A quién demandó consejo para ser avisado? ¿Quién le enseñó el camino del juicio, ó le enseñó ciencia, ó le mostró la senda de la prudencia?
15He aquí que las naciones son reputadas como la gota de un acetre, y como el orín del peso: he aquí que hace desaparecer las islas como polvo.
16Ni el Líbano bastará para el fuego, ni todos sus animales para el sacrificio.
17Como nada son todas las gentes delante de él; y en su comparación serán estimadas en menos que nada, y que lo que no es.
18¿A qué pues haréis semejante á Dios, ó qué imagen le compondréis?
19El artífice apareja la imagen de talla, el platero le extiende el oro, y le funde cadenas de plata.
20El pobre escoge, para ofrecerle, madera que no se corrompa; búscase un maestro sabio, que le haga una imagen de talla que no se mueva.
21¿No sabéis? ¿no habéis oído? ¿nunca os lo han dicho desde el principio? ¿no habéis sido enseñados desde que la tierra se fundó?
22El está asentado sobre el globo de la tierra, cuyos moradores son como langostas: él extiende los cielos como una cortina, tiéndelos como una tienda para morar:
23El torna en nada los poderosos, y á los que gobiernan la tierra hace como cosa vana.
24Como si nunca fueran plantados, como si nunca fueran sembrados, como si nunca su tronco hubiera tenido raíz en la tierra; así que sopla en ellos se secan, y el torbellino los lleva como hojarascas.
25¿A qué pues me haréis semejante, ó seré asimilado? dice el Santo.
26Levantad en alto vuestros ojos, y mirad quién crió estas cosas: él saca por cuenta su ejército: á todas llama por sus nombres; ninguna faltará: tal es la grandeza de su fuerza, y su poder y virtud.
27¿Por qué dices, oh Jacob, y hablas tú, Israel: Mi camino es escondido de Jehová, y de mi Dios pasó mi juicio?
28¿No has sabido, no has oído que el Dios del siglo es Jehová, el cual crió los términos de la tierra? No se trabaja, ni se fatiga con cansancio, y su entendimiento no hay quien lo alcance.
29El da esfuerzo al cansado, y multiplica las fuerzas al que no tiene ningunas.
30Los mancebos se fatigan y se cansan, los mozos flaquean y caen:
31Mas los que esperan á Jehová tendrán nuevas fuerzas; levantarán las alas como águilas; correrán, y no se cansarán; caminarán, y no se fatigarán.

1Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
2Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.
3The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
6The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
7The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
9O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
10Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
12Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
13Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?
14With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
15Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
16And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
18To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
26Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
27Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
29He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

1“Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.
2“Speak comfortably to Jerusalem, and call out to her that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received of the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.”
3The voice of one who calls out, “Prepare the way of the LORD in the wilderness! Make a level highway in the desert for our God.
4Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain.
5The LORD’s glory shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.”
6The voice of one saying, “Cry out!” One said, “What shall I cry?” “All flesh is like grass, and all its glory is like the flower of the field.
7The grass withers, the flower fades, because the LORD’s breath blows on it. Surely the people are like grass.
8The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God stands forever.”
9You who tell good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who tell good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with strength! Lift it up! Don’t be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold, your God!”
10Behold, the Lord GOD will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.

15Behold, the nations are like a drop in a bucket, and are regarded as a speck of dust on a balance. Behold, he lifts up the islands like a very little thing.
16Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its animals sufficient for a burnt offering.
17All the nations are like nothing before him. They are regarded by him as less than nothing, and vanity.
18To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to him?
19A workman has cast an image, and the goldsmith overlays it with gold, and casts silver chains for it.
20He who is too impoverished for such an offering chooses a tree that will not rot. He seeks a skillful workman to set up a carved image for him that will not be moved.
21Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? Haven’t you been told from the beginning? Haven’t you understood from the foundations of the earth?
22It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in,
23who brings princes to nothing, who makes the judges of the earth meaningless.
24They are planted scarcely. They are sown scarcely. Their stock has scarcely taken root in the ground. He merely blows on them, and they wither, and the whirlwind takes them away as stubble.
25“To whom then will you liken me? Who is my equal?” says the Holy One.
26Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their army by number. He calls them all by name. By the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, not one is lacking.
27Why do you say, Jacob, and speak, Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and the justice due me is disregarded by my God”?
28Haven’t you known? Haven’t you heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, doesn’t faint. He isn’t weary. His understanding is unsearchable.
29He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
30Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall;
31but those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.
