Isaías 43

1Ma ora così parla l’Eterno, il tuo Creatore, o Giacobbe, Colui che t’ha formato, o Israele! Non temere, perché io t’ho riscattato, t’ho chiamato per nome; tu sei mio!
2Quando passerai per delle acque, io sarò teco; quando traverserai de’ fiumi, non ti sommergeranno; quando camminerai nel fuoco, non ne sarai arso, e la fiamma non ti consumerà.
3Poiché io sono l’Eterno, il tuo Dio, il Santo d’Israele, il tuo salvatore; io t’ho dato l’Egitto come tuo riscatto, l’Etiopia e Seba in vece tua.
4Perché tu sei prezioso agli occhi miei, perché sei pregiato ed io t’amo, io do degli uomini in vece tua, e dei popoli in cambio della tua vita.
5Non temere, perché, io sono teco; io ricondurrò la tua progenie dal levante, e ti raccoglierò dal ponente.
6Dirò al settentrione: “Da!” e al mezzogiorno: “Non ritenere; fa venire i miei figliuoli da lontano, e le mie figliuole dalle estremità della terra,
7tutti quelli cioè che portano il mio nome, che io ho creati per la mia gloria, che ho formati, che ho fatti.
8Fa’ uscire il popolo cieco che ha degli occhi, e i sordi che han degli orecchi!
9S’adunino tutte assieme le nazioni, si riuniscano i popoli! Chi fra loro può annunziar queste cose e farci udire delle predizioni antiche? Producano i loro testimoni e stabiliscano il loro diritto, affinché, dopo averli uditi, si dica: “E’ vero!”
10I miei testimoni siete voi, dice l’Eterno, voi, e il mio servo ch’io ho scelto, affinché voi lo sappiate, mi crediate, e riconosciate che son io. Prima di me nessun Dio fu formato, e dopo di me, non v’è ne sarà alcuno.
11Io, io sono l’Eterno, e fuori di me non v’è salvatore.
12Io ho annunziato, salvato, predetto, e non è stato un dio straniero che fosse tra voi; e voi me ne siete testimoni, dice l’Eterno: Io sono Iddio.
13Lo sono da che fu il giorno, e nessuno può liberare dalla mia mano; io opererò; chi potrà impedire l’opera mia?
14Così parla l’Eterno, il vostro redentore, il Santo d’Israele: Per amor vostro io mando il nemico contro Babilonia; volgerò tutti in fuga, e i Caldei scenderanno sulle navi di cui sono sì fieri.
15Io sono l’Eterno, il vostro Santo, il creatore d’Israele, il vostro re.
16Così parla l’Eterno, che aprì una strada nel mare e un sentiero fra le acque potenti,
17che fece uscire carri e cavalli, un esercito di prodi guerrieri; e tutti quanti furono atterrati, né più si rialzarono; furono estinti, spenti come un lucignolo.
18Non ricordare più le cose passate, e non considerate più le cose antiche;
19ecco, io sto per fare una cosa nuova; essa sta per germogliare; non la riconoscerete voi? Sì, io aprirò una strada nel deserto, farò scorrer de’ fiumi nella solitudine.
20Le bestie de’ campi, gli sciacalli e gli struzzi, mi glorificheranno perché avrò dato dell’acqua al deserto, de’ fiumi alla solitudine per dar da bere al mio popolo, al mio eletto.
21Il mio popolo che mi sono formato pubblicherà le mie lodi.
22E tu non m’hai invocato, o Giacobbe, anzi ti sei stancato di me, o Israele!
23Tu non m’hai portato l’agnello de’ tuoi olocausti, e non m’hai onorato coi tuoi sacrifizi; io non ti ho tormentato col chiederti offerte, né t’ho stancato col domandarti incenso.
24Tu non m’hai comprato con denaro della canna odorosa, e non m’hai saziato col grasso de’ tuoi sacrifizi; ma tu m’hai tormentato coi tuoi peccati, m’hai stancato con le tue iniquità.
25Io, io son quegli che per amor di me stesso cancello le tue trasgressioni, e non mi ricorderò più de tuoi peccati.
26Risveglia la mia memoria, discutiamo assieme, parla tu stesso per giustificarti!
27Il tuo primo padre ha peccato, i tuoi interpreti si sono ribellati a me;
28perciò io ho trattato come profani i capi del santuario, ho votato Giacobbe allo sterminio, ho abbandonato Israele all’obbrobrio.

1Y AHORA, así dice Jehová Criador tuyo, oh Jacob, y Formador tuyo, oh Israel: No temas, porque yo te redimí; te puse nombre, mío eres tú.
2Cuando pasares por las aguas, yo seré contigo; y por los ríos, no te anegarán. Cuando pasares por el fuego, no te quemarás, ni la llama arderá en ti.
3Porque yo Jehová Dios tuyo, el Santo de Israel, soy tu Salvador: á Egipto he dado por tu rescate, á Etiopía y á Seba por ti.
4Porque en mis ojos fuiste de grande estima, fuiste honorable, y yo te amé: daré pues hombres por ti, y naciones por tu alma.
5No temas, porque yo soy contigo; del oriente traeré tu generación, y del occidente te recogeré.
6Diré al aquilón: Da acá; y al mediodía: No detengas: trae de lejos mis hijos, y mis hijas de los términos de la tierra,
7Todos los llamados de mi nombre; para gloria mía los críe, los formé y los hice.
8Sacad al pueblo ciego que tiene ojos, y á los sordos que tienen oídos.
9Congréguense á una todas las gentes, y júntense todos los pueblos: ¿quién de ellos hay que nos dé nuevas de esto, y que nos haga oir las cosas primeras? Presenten sus testigos, y justifíquense; oigan, y digan: Verdad.
10Vosotros sois mis testigos, dice Jehová, y mi siervo que yo escogí; para que me conozcáis y creáis, y entendáis que yo mismo soy; antes de mí no fué formado Dios, ni lo será después de mí.
11Yo, yo Jehová; y fuera de mí no hay quien salve.
12Yo anuncié, y salvé, é hice oir, y no hubo entre vosotros extraño. Vosotros pues sois mis testigos, dice Jehová, que yo soy Dios.
13Aun antes que hubiera día, yo era; y no hay quien de mi mano libre: si yo hiciere, ¿quién lo estorbará?
14Así dice Jehová, Redentor vuestro, el Santo de Israel: Por vosotros envié á Babilonia, é hice descender fugitivos todos ellos, y clamor de Caldeos en las naves.
15Yo Jehová, Santo vuestro, Criador de Israel, vuestro Rey.
16Así dice Jehová, el que da camino en la mar, y senda en las aguas impetuosas;
17El que saca carro y caballo, ejército y fuerza; caen juntamente para no levantarse; quedan extinguidos, como pábilo quedan apagados.
18No os acordéis de las cosas pasadas, ni traigáis á memoria las cosas antiguas.
19He aquí que yo hago cosa nueva: presto saldrá á luz: ¿no la sabréis? Otra vez pondré camino en el desierto, y ríos en la soledad.
20La bestia del campo me honrará, los chacales, y los pollos del avestruz: porque daré aguas en el desierto, ríos en la soledad, para que beba mi pueblo, mi escogido.
21Este pueblo crié para mí; mis alabanzas publicará.
22Y no me invocaste á mí, oh Jacob; antes, de mí te cansaste, oh Israel.
23No me trajiste á mí los animales de tus holocaustos, ni á mí me honraste con tus sacrificios: no te hice servir con presente, ni te hice fatigar con perfume.
24No compraste para mí caña aromática por dinero, ni me saciaste con la grosura de tus sacrificios; antes me hiciste servir en tus pecados, me has fatigado con tus maldades.
25Yo, yo soy el que borro tus rebeliones por amor de mí; y no me acordaré de tus pecados.
26Hazme acordar, entremos en juicio juntamente; relata tú para abonarte.
27Tu primer padre pecó, y tus enseñadores prevaricaron contra mí.
28Por tanto, yo profané los príncipes del santuario, y puse por anatema á Jacob, y por oprobio á Israel.

1But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
6I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
7Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
8Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.
9Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
10Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
11I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.
12I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.
13Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
14Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.
15I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
16Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
17Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.
18Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
20The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
21This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
22But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.
23Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.
24Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.
25I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
26Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.
27Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.
28Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.
World English Bible
1But now the LORD who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel, says: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine.
2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.
3For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
4Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you, therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life.
5Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west.
6I will tell the north, ‘Give them up!’ and tell the south, ‘Don’t hold them back! Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth—
7everyone who is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, yes, whom I have made.’”
8Bring out the blind people who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears.
9Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the peoples be assembled. Who among them can declare this, and show us former things? Let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified, or let them hear, and say, “That is true.”

20The animals of the field, the jackals and the ostriches, shall honor me, because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

22Yet you have not called on me, Jacob; but you have been weary of me, Israel.
23You have not brought me any of your sheep for burnt offerings, neither have you honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor wearied you with frankincense.
24You have bought me no sweet cane with money, nor have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices, but you have burdened me with your sins. You have wearied me with your iniquities.
25I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.
26Put me in remembrance. Let us plead together. Declare your case, that you may be justified.
27Your first father sinned, and your teachers have transgressed against me.
28Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel an insult.”
