J’ai donné mon dos à ceux qui frappaient, et mes joues à ceux qui arrachaient le poil ; je n’ai pas caché ma face à l’opprobre et aux crachats.

Dí mi cuerpo á los heridores, y mis mejillas á los que me mesaban el cabello: no escondí mi rostro de las injurias y esputos.

I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
