1Permítanme cantar una canción para mi amor, sobre su viñedo. Mi amor tenía una viña en una colina fértil.
2La cavó, limpió el suelo de piedras y la plantó con las mejores vides. En medio de ella construyó una torre de vigilancia, y también excavó un lagar a partir de la roca. Luego esperó una buena cosecha de uvas, pero sólo produjo uvas silvestres y agrias.
3“Ahora, ustedes que viven en Jerusalén y en Judá, por favor, juzguen entre mi viña y yo.
4¿Qué más podía hacer por mi viña de lo que ya he hecho? Cuando buscaba uvas dulces, ¿por qué sólo produjo uvas agrias?
5“Así que déjenme decirles lo que voy a hacer con mi viña. Quitaré su seto y será destruida. Derribaré su muro, y será pisoteada.
6La convertiré en un lugar desierto. No se podará ni se cortará más la hierba en ella: quedará cubierta de zarzas y espinas. Ordenaré a las nubes que no llueva sobre ella”.
7Israel es la viña del Señor Todopoderoso, y el pueblo de Judá son las plantas de su jardín que lo hacen feliz. Sin embargo, mientras esperaba justicia, sólo veía injusticia; esperaba que la gente viviera bien, pero sólo escuchaba los gritos de los que sufrían.
8La tragedia se acerca a ti, que compras casa sobre casa y campo sobre campo, acumulándolos hasta que nadie tenga dónde vivir y tú puedas vivir solo en la tierra.
9Oí al Señor Todopoderoso declarar: Puedes estar seguro de que muchas casas están destinadas a convertirse en ruinas, y hermosas mansiones destinadas a quedar deshabitadas.
10Diez acres de viña sólo producirán seis galones de vino, y una medida de semilla sólo la décima parte en grano.
11La tragedia llega a ustedes que se levantan temprano por la mañana con ganas de beber, y que se quedan hasta tarde bebiendo vino hasta emborracharse.
12En sus fiestas ustedes tienen liras y arpas, panderetas y flautas, y vino, pero nunca consideran lo que hace el Señor, y no reconocen su ayuda.
13Como resultado, mi pueblo será desterrado por su falta de entendimiento. Sus honorables líderes morirán de hambre, y las multitudes se morirán de sed.
14El apetito de la tumba aumenta, su boca se abre de par en par, y la nobleza de Jerusalén y las masas bajarán a ella, junto con las turbas alborotadas y borrachas.
15Todos serán abatidos, todos serán humillados; los orgullosos bajarán sus ojos en señal de humillación.
16Pero el Señor Todopoderoso será reivindicado porque hace lo que es justo; el Dios santo se mostrará santo por su bondad.
17Los corderos pastarán como en su propio pasto; el ganado cebado y las cabras se alimentarán entre las ruinas de los ricos.
18Viene la tragedia para ustedes, que arrastran sus pecados detrás de la iniquidad con cuerdas hechas de mentiras, y tiran con cuerdas de la maldad.
19Ustedes son de los que dicen: “¡Dios debería darse prisa! ¿Por qué Dios no se apresura con lo que está haciendo para que podamos verlo? ¿Por qué el Santo de Israel no ejecuta su plan? Veamos lo que sucede para poder entender de qué se trata”.
20La tragedia está llegando a ustedes que dicen que el mal es bueno, y el bien es malo; que convierten las tinieblas en luz y la luz en tinieblas; que hacen de lo amargo algo dulce, y de lo dulce algo amargo.
21La tragedia viene a ustedes que son sabios en sus propios ojos y se creen muy inteligentes.
22La tragedia viene para ustedes, que son campeones en el consumo de vino, y expertos en mezclar bebidas alcohólicas;
23ustedes que liberan al culpable por un soborno, y sin embargo niegan la justicia al inocente.
24Así como el fuego quema los rastrojos y la hierba seca cae en las llamas, así sus raíces se descompondrán y sus flores se desintegrarán en polvo. Porque han rechazado la ley del Señor Todopoderoso, y han tratado con desprecio lo que el Santo de Israel ha dicho.
25Por eso el Señor arde de ira contra su pueblo. Ha levantado su mano y los ha golpeado, sacudiendo las montañas y dejando sus cadáveres tirados como basura en las calles. A pesar de todo esto, su cólera no ha terminado, y su mano sigue levantada.
26Enviará una señal a las naciones lejanas y silbará a los que viven en los confines de la tierra. Mira qué rápido responden, qué rápido vienen.
27Ninguno de ellos se cansa ni tropieza; ninguno descansa ni duerme. Ningún cinturón se afloja, y ninguna correa de sandalia se rompe.
28Sus flechas ya están afiladas, y todos sus arcos han sido ensartados. Los cascos de sus caballos son duros como el pedernal; las ruedas de sus carros giran como un torbellino.
29Rugen como leones, como jóvenes leones. Gruñen y se abalanzan sobre su presa. La arrastran para que no pueda ser rescatada.
30En ese momento rugirán sobre su presa como el rugido del mar. Cualquiera que mire hacia la tierra sólo verá oscuridad y angustia; incluso la luz del sol se verá oscurecida por las nubes.

1AHORA cantaré por mi amado el cantar de mi amado á su viña. Tenía mi amado una viña en un recuesto, lugar fértil.
2Habíala cercado, y despedregádola, y plantádola de vides escogidas: había edificado en medio de ella una torre, y también asentado un lagar en ella: y esperaba que llevase uvas, y llevó uvas silvestres.
3Ahora pues, vecinos de Jerusalem y varones de Judá, juzgad ahora entre mí y mi viña.
4¿Qué más se había de hacer á mi viña, que yo no haya hecho en ella? ¿Cómo, esperando yo que llevase uvas, ha llevado uvas silvestres?
5Os mostraré pues ahora lo que haré yo á mi viña: Quitaréle su vallado, y será para ser consumida; aportillaré su cerca, y será para ser hollada;
6Haré que quede desierta; no será podada ni cavada, y crecerá el cardo y las espinas: y aun á las nubes mandaré que no derramen lluvia sobre ella.
7Ciertamente la viña de Jehová de los ejércitos es la casa de Israel, y los hombres de Judá planta suya deleitosa. Esperaba juicio, y he aquí vileza; justicia, y he aquí clamor.
8¡Ay de los que juntan casa con casa, y allegan heredad á heredad hasta acabar el término! ¿Habitaréis vosotros solos en medio de la tierra?
9Ha llegado á mis oídos de parte de Jehová de los ejércitos, que las muchas casas han de quedar asoladas, sin morador las grandes y hermosas.
10Y diez huebras de viña producirán un zaque, y treinta modios de simiente darán tres modios.
11¡Ay de los que se levantan de mañana para seguir la embriaguez; que se están hasta la noche, hasta que el vino los enciende!
12Y en sus banquetes hay arpas, vihuelas, tamboriles, flautas, y vino; y no miran la obra de Jehová, ni consideran la obra de sus manos.
13Por tanto mi pueblo fué llevado cautivo, porque no tuvo ciencia: y su gloria pereció de hambre, y su multitud se secó de sed.
14Por eso ensanchó su interior el sepulcro, y sin medida extendió su boca; y allá descenderá la gloria de ellos, y su multitud, y su fausto, y el que en él se holgaba.
15Y el hombre será humillado, y el varón será abatido, y bajados serán los ojos de los altivos.
16Mas Jehová de los ejércitos será ensalzado en juicio, y el Dios Santo será santificado con justicia.
17Y los corderos serán apacentados según su costumbre; y extraños comerán las gruesas desamparadas.
18¡Ay de los que traen la iniquidad con cuerdas de vanidad, y el pecado como con coyundas de carreta,
19Los cuales dicen: Venga ya, apresúrese su obra, y veamos: acérquese, y venga el consejo del Santo de Israel, para que lo sepamos!
20¡Ay de los que á lo malo dicen bueno, y á lo bueno malo; que hacen de la luz tinieblas, y de las tinieblas luz; que ponen lo amargo por dulce, y lo dulce por amargo!
21¡Ay de los sabios en sus ojos, y de los que son prudentes delante de sí mismos!
22¡Ay de los que son valientes para beber vino, y hombres fuertes para mezclar bebida;
23Los que dan por justo al impío por cohechos, y al justo quitan su justicia!
24Por tanto, como la lengua del fuego consume las aristas, y la llama devora la paja, así será su raíz como pudrimiento, y su flor se desvanecerá como polvo: porque desecharon la ley de Jehová de los ejércitos, y abominaron la palabra del Santo de Israel.
25Por esta causa se encendió el furor de Jehová contra su pueblo, y extendió contra él su mano, é hirióle; y se estremecieron los montes, y sus cadáveres fueron arrojados en medio de las calles. Con todo esto no ha cesado su furor, antes está su mano todavía extendida.
26Y alzará pendón á gentes de lejos, y silbará al que está en el cabo de la tierra; y he aquí que vendrá pronto y velozmente.
27No habrá entre ellos cansado, ni que vacile; ninguno se dormirá ni le tomará sueño; á ninguno se le desatará el cinto de los lomos, ni se le romperá la correa de sus zapatos.
28Sus saetas amoladas, y todos sus arcos entesados; las uñas de sus caballos parecerán como de pedernal, y las ruedas de sus carros como torbellino.
29Su bramido como de león; rugirá á manera de leoncillos, rechinará los dientes, y arrebatará la presa; la apañara, y nadie se la quitará.
30Y bramará sobre él en aquel día como bramido de la mar: entonces mirará hacia la tierra, y he aquí tinieblas de tribulación, y en sus cielos se oscurecerá la luz.

1Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
2And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
3And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
4What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
5And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
6And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
8Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
9In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
10Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.
11Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
12And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.
13Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
14Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
15And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
16But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.
17Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
18Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
19That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
20Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
23Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
24Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
26And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
27None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:
28Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses’ hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:
29Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.
30And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
World English Bible
1Let me sing for my well beloved a song of my beloved about his vineyard. My beloved had a vineyard on a very fruitful hill.
2He dug it up, gathered out its stones, planted it with the choicest vine, built a tower in the middle of it, and also cut out a wine press in it. He looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes.
3“Now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, please judge between me and my vineyard.
4What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I looked for it to yield grapes, did it yield wild grapes?
5Now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will take away its hedge, and it will be eaten up. I will break down its wall, and it will be trampled down.
6I will lay it a wasteland. It won’t be pruned or hoed, but it will grow briers and thorns. I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain on it.”
7For the vineyard of the LORD of Armies is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant. He looked for justice, but behold, oppression, for righteousness, but behold, a cry of distress.
8Woe to those who join house to house, who lay field to field, until there is no room, and you are made to dwell alone in the middle of the land!
9In my ears, the LORD of Armies says: “Surely many houses will be desolate, even great and beautiful, unoccupied.
10For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and a homer of seed shall yield an ephah.”
11Woe to those who rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink, who stay late into the night, until wine inflames them!
12The harp, lyre, tambourine, and flute, with wine, are at their feasts; but they don’t respect the work of the LORD, neither have they considered the operation of his hands.
13Therefore my people go into captivity for lack of knowledge. Their honorable men are famished, and their multitudes are parched with thirst.
14Therefore Sheol has enlarged its desire, and opened its mouth without measure; and their glory, their multitude, their pomp, and he who rejoices among them, descend into it.
15So man is brought low, mankind is humbled, and the eyes of the arrogant ones are humbled;
16but the LORD of Armies is exalted in justice, and God the Holy One is sanctified in righteousness.
17Then the lambs will graze as in their pasture, and strangers will eat the ruins of the rich.
18Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of falsehood, and wickedness as with cart rope,
19who say, “Let him make haste, let him hasten his work, that we may see it; let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, that we may know it!”
20Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
22Woe to those who are mighty to drink wine, and champions at mixing strong drink;
23who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice for the innocent!
24Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as the dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust, because they have rejected the law of the LORD of Armies, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
25Therefore the LORD’s anger burns against his people, and he has stretched out his hand against them and has struck them. The mountains tremble, and their dead bodies are as refuse in the middle of the streets. For all this, his anger is not turned away, but his hand is still stretched out.
26He will lift up a banner to the nations from far away, and he will whistle for them from the end of the earth. Behold, they will come speedily and swiftly.
27No one shall be weary nor stumble among them; no one shall slumber nor sleep, neither shall the belt of their waist be untied, nor the strap of their sandals be broken,
28whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent. Their horses’ hoofs will be like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind.
29Their roaring will be like a lioness. They will roar like young lions. Yes, they shall roar, and seize their prey and carry it off, and there will be no one to deliver.
30They will roar against them in that day like the roaring of the sea. If one looks to the land, behold, darkness and distress. The light is darkened in its clouds.
