Durante el reinado de Acaz, hijo de Jotán y nieto de Uzías, Jerusalén fue atacada por el rey Rezín de Siria y el rey Pecaj de Israel, hijo de Remalías. Pero no la tomaron, la ciudad resistió.
ACONTECIÓ en los días de Achâz hijo de Jotham, hijo de Uzzías, rey de Judá, que Rezín rey de Siria, y Peca hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, subieron á Jerusalem para combatirla; mas no la pudieron tomar.
And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

Sin embargo, cuando a la corte real llegó la noticia, «Siria está aliada con Israel contra nosotros», el corazón del rey y de su pueblo tembló de miedo como las hojas del bosque se estremecen bajo la tormenta.
Y vino la nueva á la casa de David, diciendo: Siria se ha confederado con Ephraim. Y estremeciósele el corazón, y el corazón de su pueblo, como se estremecen los árboles del monte á causa del viento.
And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.
David’s house was told, “Syria is allied with Ephraim.” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.
El Señor le ordenó a Isaías: Ve al encuentro del rey Acaz en compañía de tu hijo Sear Yasub. Lo hallarás al final del acueducto que va de la fuente de Gihón al estanque de arriba, junto al camino que baja al campo del blanqueador.
Entonces dijo Jehová á Isaías: Sal ahora al encuentro de Achâz, tú, y Sear-jasub tu hijo, al cabo del conducto de la Pesquera de arriba, en el camino de la heredad del Lavador,
Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;
Then the LORD said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shearjashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller’s field.
Dile que no se angustie más, dice el Señor. Dile que no tiene por qué asustarse de la furia de esos dos fracasados, Rezín y Pecaj.
Y dile: Guarda, y repósate; no temas, ni se enternezca tu corazón á causa de estos dos cabos de tizón que humean, por el furor de la ira de Rezín y del Siro, y del hijo de Remalías.
And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
Tell him, ‘Be careful, and keep calm. Don’t be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.
Sí, cierto, los reyes de Siria e Israel vienen contra él. Los enemigos dicen:
Por haber acordado maligno consejo contra ti el Siro, con Ephraim y con el hijo de Remalías, diciendo:
Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,
Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have plotted evil against you, saying,
«Invadiremos a Judá y llenaremos de pánico a su pueblo. Luego pelearemos hasta llegar a Jerusalén y pondremos por rey suyo al hijo de Tabel».
Vamos contra Judá, y la despertaremos, y la partiremos entre nosotros, y pondremos en medio de ella por rey al hijo de Tabeel:
Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:
“Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king within it, even the son of Tabeel.”
Pero el Señor Dios dice: Este plan no triunfará,
El Señor Jehová dice así: No subsistirá, ni será.
Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”
porque Damasco seguirá siendo capital sólo de Siria, y el reino de Rezín no extenderá sus fronteras. Y dentro de sesenta y cinco años también Efraín será aplastado y quebrantado.
Porque la cabeza de Siria es Damasco, y la cabeza de Damasco, Rezín: y dentro de sesenta y cinco años Ephraim será quebrantado hasta dejar de ser pueblo.
For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.
For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim shall be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people.
Samaria es la capital de Efraín solamente, y el poder del rey Pecaj no aumentará. ¿No me creen? Si quieren mi protección, tienen que aprender a creer lo que digo.
Entretanto la cabeza de Ephraim es Samaria, y la cabeza de Samaria el hijo de Remalías. Si vosotros no creyereis, de cierto no permaneceréis.
And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

No mucho después de esto, el Señor envió este otro mensaje al rey Acaz:
Y habló más Jehová á Achâz, diciendo:
Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,
The LORD spoke again to Ahaz, saying,
Acaz, pídeme una señal para demostrarte que en realidad aplastaré a tus enemigos como lo tengo dicho. Pide lo que quieras que haga en cualquier lugar del globo terraqueo.
Pide para ti señal de Jehová tu Dios, demandándola en lo profundo, ó arriba en lo alto.
Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
“Ask a sign of the LORD your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.”
Pero el rey se negó y dijo: ―¡Jamás importunaré al Señor con nada semejante!
Y respondió Achâz: No pediré, y no tentaré á Jehová.
But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.
But Ahaz said, “I won’t ask. I won’t tempt the LORD.”
Entonces Isaías respondió: ―Oh casa de David, no te basta con agotarme la paciencia, ¡tienes que agotársela también a Dios!
Dijo entonces Isaías: Oid ahora, casa de David. ¿Os es poco el ser molestos á los hombres, sino que también lo seáis á mi Dios?
And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?
He said, “Listen now, house of David. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?
Bueno, el Señor mismo elegirá la señal: ¡Una joven dará a luz un niño! y ella le pondrá por nombre Emanuel (que significa “Dios está con nosotros”).
Por tanto el mismo Señor os dará señal: He aquí que la virgen concebirá, y parirá hijo, y llamará su nombre Emmanuel.
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Para cuando este niño sea destetado y pueda distinguir entre el bien y el mal, los dos reyes a quienes tanto temes —los reyes de Israel y Siria— habrán muerto.
Comerá manteca y miel, para que sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno.
Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
He shall eat butter and honey when he knows to refuse the evil and choose the good.

Porque antes que el niño sepa desechar lo malo y escoger lo bueno, la tierra que tú aborreces será dejada de sus dos reyes.
For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.
For before the child knows to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.
«Pero más adelante el Señor mandará terrible maldición sobre ti, tu nación y tu familia. Habrá tanto terror como nunca se vio desde la división del imperio de Salomón en los reinos de Israel y Judá. ¡El poderoso rey de Asiria vendrá con su gran ejército!».
Jehová hará venir sobre ti, y sobre tu pueblo, y sobre la casa de tu padre, días cuales nunca vinieron desde el día que Ephraim se apartó de Judá, es á saber, al rey de Asiria.
The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.
The LORD will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah, even the king of Assyria.
En aquel tiempo el Señor silbará llamando al ejército del Alto Egipto y al de Asiria, para que cual moscas desciendan sobre ti y te destruyan como si fueran abejas de aguijón mortal.
Y acontecerá que aquel día silbará Jehová á la mosca que está en el fin de los ríos de Egipto, y á la abeja que está en la tierra de Asiria.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.
It will happen in that day that the LORD will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.
Acudirán en hordas inmensas que se esparcirán por todo el país, hasta los valles desolados, las cuevas y los espinales, así como hacia toda la tierra fértil.
Y vendrán, y se asentarán todos en los valles desiertos, y en las cavernas de las piedras, y en todos los zarzales, y en todas las matas.
And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.
They shall come, and shall all rest in the desolate valleys, in the clefts of the rocks, on all thorn hedges, and on all pastures.
En aquel día el Señor tomará esta «navaja», estos mercenarios asirios que contrataste para salvarte, y la usará para rasurarte de cuanto posees: tu tierra, tus cosechas y tu pueblo.
En aquel día raerá el Señor con navaja alquilada, con los que habitan de la otra parte del río, á saber, con el rey de Asiria, cabeza y pelos de los pies; y aun la barba también quitará.
In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.
In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria, the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.
Cuando finalmente dejen de saquear, toda la nación será sólo un pastizal. Y afortunado será el granjero a quien al menos le quede una vaca y dos ovejas. Pero los abundantes pastos producirán mucha leche y todos los que queden se alimentarán de leche cuajada y miel silvestre.
Y acontecerá en aquel tiempo, que críe un hombre una vaca y dos ovejas;
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;
It shall happen in that day that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep.

Y será que á causa de la abundancia de leche que darán, comerá manteca: cierto manteca y miel comerá el que quedare en medio de la tierra.
And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.
It shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter, for everyone will eat butter and honey that is left within the land.
En aquel tiempo los lozanos viñedos se convertirán en zarzales.
Acontecerá también en aquel tiempo, que el lugar donde había mil vides que valían mil siclos de plata, será para los espinos y cardos.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.
It will happen in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines worth a thousand silver shekels, will be for briers and thorns.
Toda la tierra será un vasto espinar, coto de caza donde abunden los animales salvajes.
Con saetas y arco irán allá; porque toda la tierra será espinos y cardos.
With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.
People will go there with arrows and with bow, because all the land will be briers and thorns.
Nadie irá a las fértiles laderas donde antes había huertos, pues estarán cubiertas de espinos. Vacas, ovejas y cabras pastarán allí.
Y á todos los montes que se cavaban con azada, no llegará allá el temor de los espinos y de los cardos: mas serán para pasto de bueyes, y para ser hollados de los ganados.
And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.
All the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending out of oxen, and for sheep to tread on.”
