El Señor volvió a darme un mensaje: Hazte un gran letrero y anuncia en él el nacimiento del hijo que voy a darte. ¡Escríbelo con mayúsculas! Su nombre será Maher Salal Jasbaz (que significa pronto serán destruidos sus enemigos).
Y DÍJOME Jehová: Tómate un gran volumen, y escribe en él en estilo de hombre tocante á Maher-salal-hash-baz.
Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man’s pen concerning Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
The LORD said to me, “Take a large tablet, and write on it with a man’s pen, ‘For Maher Shalal Hash Baz’;
Les pedí a Urías, el sacerdote y a Zacarías, hijo de Jeberequías, ambos de notoria honradez, que me vigilaran mientras yo escribía para que dieran testimonio que yo lo había escrito (antes de que el niño fuera siquiera concebido).
Y junté conmigo por testigos fieles á Urías sacerdote, y á Zacarías hijo de Jeberechîas.
And I took unto me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.
and I will take for myself faithful witnesses to testify: Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”
Entonces tuve relaciones sexuales con mi esposa y ella concibió y me dio un hijo, y el Señor dijo: «Ponle por nombre Maher Salal Jasbaz.
Y juntéme con la profetisa, la cual concibió, y parió un hijo. Y díjome Jehová: Ponle por nombre Maher-salal-hash-baz.
And I went unto the prophetess; and she conceived, and bare a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz.

Ese nombre profetiza que dentro de un par de años, antes que ese niño tenga edad para decir papá o mamá, el rey de Asiria invadirá a Damasco y a Samaria, y se llevará todas sus riquezas».
Porque antes que el niño sepa decir, Padre mío, y Madre mía, será quitada la fuerza de Damasco y los despojos de Samaria, en la presencia del rey de Asiria.
For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
For before the child knows how to say, ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria will be carried away by the king of Assyria.”
Luego el Señor volvió a hablarme y dijo:
Otra vez tornó Jehová á hablarme, diciendo:
The LORD spake also unto me again, saying,

«Puesto que el pueblo de Jerusalén piensa rechazar mi tierna solicitud y sus habitantes están ansiosos de pedirles a los reyes Rezín y Pecaj que acudan en su auxilio,
Por cuanto desechó este pueblo las aguas de Siloé, que corren mansamente, y holgóse con Rezín y con el hijo de Remalías;
Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
“Because this people has refused the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
yo abrumaré a mi pueblo con la impetuosa corriente del Éufrates; el rey de Asiria con todos sus poderosos ejércitos se abalanzará contra ellos. ¡Esta inundación llenará todos sus canales y barrerá toda la tierra de Judá, oh Emanuel, llenándola de cabo a cabo».
He aquí por tanto que el Señor hace subir sobre ellos aguas de ríos, impetuosas y muchas, á saber, al rey de Asiria con todo su poder; el cual subirá sobre todos sus ríos, y pasará sobre todas sus riberas:
Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
now therefore, behold, the Lord brings upon them the mighty flood waters of the River: the king of Assyria and all his glory. It will come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks.

Y pasando hasta Judá, inundará, y sobrepujará, y llegará hasta la garganta; y extendiendo sus alas, llenará la anchura de tu tierra, oh Emmanuel.
And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.
It will sweep onward into Judah. It will overflow and pass through. It will reach even to the neck. The stretching out of its wings will fill the width of your land, O Immanuel.
Por mucho que hagan Siria e Israel, enemigos nuestros, no triunfarán; serán despedazados. Escúchenme ustedes, todos nuestros enemigos: Alístense para hacernos la guerra, y perecerán. ¡Sí, perecerán! Reúnan sus consejos de guerra, desarrollen su estrategia, preparen planes de ataque contra nosotros, ¡y perezcan! porque Dios está con nosotros.
Juntaos, pueblos, y seréis quebrantados; oid todos los que sois de lejanas tierras: poneos á punto, y seréis quebrantados; apercibíos, y seréis quebrantados.
Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.
Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Listen, all you from far countries: dress for battle, and be shattered! Dress for battle, and be shattered!

El Señor Dios lo ha declarado del modo más firme: Bajo ninguna circunstancia sigan a Judá en sus planes de rendirse a Siria e Israel.
Porque Jehová me dijo de esta manera con mano fuerte, y enseñóme que no caminase por el camino de este pueblo, diciendo:
For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

Que nadie los llame traidores por su lealtad al Dios verdadero. No se llenen de pánico como tantos de sus vecinos cuando piensan en el ataque de Siria e Israel contra ustedes.
No digáis, Conjuración, á todas las cosas á que este pueblo dice, Conjuración; ni temáis lo que temen, ni tengáis miedo.
Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.
“Don’t call a conspiracy all that this people call a conspiracy. Don’t fear their threats or be terrorized.
¡No teman nada sino al Señor Todopoderoso! Si a él le temen, no tienen por qué temerle a nada más.
A Jehová de los ejércitos, á él santificad: sea él vuestro temor, y él sea vuestro miedo.
Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
The LORD of Armies is who you must respect as holy. He is the one you must fear. He is the one you must dread.
Él será su seguridad. Pero Israel y Judá han rechazado su protección y por tanto tropezaron contra la Roca de su salvación y yacen aplastados por ella. ¡La presencia de Dios entre ellos los ha puesto en peligro!
Entonces él será por santuario; mas á las dos casas de Israel por piedra para tropezar, y por tropezadero para caer, y por lazo y por red al morador de Jerusalem.
And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
He will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel, he will be a stumbling stone and a rock that makes them fall. For the people of Jerusalem, he will be a trap and a snare.

Y muchos tropezarán entre ellos, y caerán, y serán quebrantados: enredaránse, y serán presos.
And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
Many will stumble over it, fall, be broken, be snared, and be captured.”
Escribe todo lo que voy a hacer, dice el Señor, y séllalo para el futuro. Encárgalo a algún hombre justo para que lo haga llegar a los justos de las generaciones futuras.
Ata el testimonio, sella la ley entre mis discípulos.
Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
Wrap up the covenant. Seal the law among my disciples.
Aunque el Señor esté ahora oculto, voy a esperar a que nos ayude. En él reposa mi única esperanza.
Esperaré pues á Jehová, el cual escondió su rostro de la casa de Jacob, y á él aguardaré.
And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
I will wait for the LORD, who hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
Yo y los hijos que Dios me ha dado tenemos nombres simbólicos que revelan los planes del Señor Todopoderoso para su pueblo: Isaías significa «El Señor salvará (a su pueblo)»; Sear Yasub significa «Un remanente volverá»; y Maher Salal Jasbaz significa «Tus enemigos serán pronto aniquilados».
He aquí, yo y los hijos que me dió Jehová, por señales y prodigios en Israel, de parte de Jehová de los ejércitos que mora en el monte de Sión.
Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

¿Por qué, pues, procuran averiguar el futuro consultando a brujas y médium? No escuchen sus bisbiseos y murmullos. ¿Podrán los vivos obtener de los muertos la revelación del futuro? ¿Por qué no se lo preguntan a su Dios?
Y si os dijeren: Preguntad á los pythones y á los adivinos, que susurran hablando, responded: ¿No consultará el pueblo á su Dios? ¿Apelará por los vivos á los muertos?
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
When they tell you, “Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter,” shouldn’t a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?
¡Contrasta las palabras de estas brujas con la palabra de Dios!, dice él. Si sus mensajes difieren de los míos, es que no proceden de mí, porque no hay en ellas luz de verdad.
¡A la ley y al testimonio! Si no dijeren conforme á esto, es porque no les ha amanecido.
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Turn to the law and to the covenant! If they don’t speak according to this word, surely there is no morning for them.
Mi pueblo será llevado cautivo, claudicante, fatigado y hambriento. Y llevados del hambre, en su desvarío sacudirán el puño contra el cielo y maldecirán a su rey y a su Dios.
Y pasarán por él fatigados y hambrientos, y acontecerá que teniendo hambre, se enojarán y maldecirán á su rey y á su Dios, levantando el rostro en alto.
And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.
They will pass through it, very distressed and hungry. It will happen that when they are hungry, they will worry, and curse their king and their God. They will turn their faces upward,
Adondequiera que vuelvan la mirada hallarán tribulación, angustia y negra desesperación. Y serán lanzados a las tinieblas.
Y mirarán á la tierra, y he aquí tribulación y tiniebla, oscuridad y angustia; y serán sumidos en las tinieblas.
And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.
then look to the earth and see distress, darkness, and the gloom of anguish. They will be driven into thick darkness.
