AUNQUE no será esta oscuridad tal como la aflicción que le vino en el tiempo que livianamente tocaron la primera vez á la tierra de Zabulón, y á la tierra de Nephtalí; y después cuando agravaron por la vía de la mar, de esa parte del Jordán, en Galilea de las gentes.
Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

Multiplicaste la nación; mas no aumentaste la alegría. Sin embargo, se alegrarán algún día delante de ti, como los que se alegran en la siega, o como se huelgan los vencedores con el botín que cogieron, al repartirse los despojos.

Porque su pesado yugo y la vara que hería sus espaldas, y el bastón de su tirano, tú los hiciste pedazos, como en la jornada de Madián.
Aumentando la gente, no aumentaste la alegría. Alegraránse delante de ti como se alegran en la siega, como se gozan cuando reparten despojos.
Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

Porque todo despojo hecho con violencia y tumulto, y los vestidos manchados de sangre serán quemados y hechos pábulo del fuego.

For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

Su imperio será amplificado, y la paz no tendrá fin; se sentará sobre el solio de David; y poseerá su reino para afianzarlo y consolidarlo haciendo reinar la equidad y la justicia desde ahora y para siempre. El celo del Señor de los ejércitos es el que hará estas cosas.
Porque un niño nos es nacido, hijo nos es dado; y el principado sobre su hombro: y llamaráse su nombre Admirable, Consejero, Dios fuerte, Padre eterno, Príncipe de paz.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Lanzó el Señor una palabra contra Jacob , y cayó sobre Israel.
Lo dilatado de su imperio y la paz no tendrán término, sobre el trono de David, y sobre su reino, disponiéndolo y confirmándolo en juicio y en justicia desde ahora para siempre. El celo de Jehová de los ejércitos hará esto.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Y lo verá todo el pueblo de Efraín, y los habitantes de Samaria, quienes con soberbia e hinchazón de corazón andan diciendo:
El Señor envió palabra á Jacob, y cayó en Israel.

Los edificios de ladrillos han sido arruinados por los enemigos mas nosotros edificaremos con piedras de sillería; cortaron las higueras silvestres, pero en su lugar sustituiremos cedros.
Y la sabrá el pueblo, todo él, Ephraim y los moradores de Samaria, que con soberbia y con altivez de corazón dicen:

Entretanto el Señor hará que los enemigos (los asirios) prevalezcan contra Rasín, y reunirá después en tropel a los mismos enemigos contra Efraín.
Los ladrillos cayeron, mas edificaremos de cantería; cortaron los cabrahigos, mas cedros pondremos en su lugar.
The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.

A los sirios por el lado del oriente, y a los filisteos por el occidente; y llenos de rabia devorarán a Israel. A pesar de todo esto no se retira su furor, sino que aún está levantado su brazo,
Empero Jehová ensalzará los enemigos de Rezín contra él, y juntará sus enemigos;

y el Señor destruirá en un solo día la cabeza y la cola a los que obedecen sumisos, como a los que gobiernan.
Mas el pueblo no se convirtió al que lo hería, ni buscaron á Jehová de los ejércitos.

El anciano y el hombre respetable, ése es la cabeza; el profeta que vende embustes, ése es la cola.

El viejo y venerable de rostro es la cabeza: el profeta que enseña mentira, este es cola.

Por esto no se enternecerá el Señor en favor de los jovencitos de ese pueblo, ni tendrá compasión de sus huérfanos, ni de sus viudas; porque todo él es hipócrita y malvado, y todas sus bocas no hablan más que desatinos. Por todas estas cosas su furor no se aplaca, sino que aún está levantada su mano.
Porque los gobernadores de este pueblo son engañadores; y sus gobernados, perdidos.

Pues la impiedad se encendió cual fuego que devora las zarzas y las espigas, y toma vigor en lo más espeso del bosque, y se eleva en torbellinos de humo densísimo.
Por tanto, el Señor no tomará contentamiento en sus mancebos, ni de sus huérfanos y viudas tendrá misericordia: porque todos son falsos y malignos, y toda boca habla despropósitos. Con todo esto no ha cesado su furor, antes todavía su mano extendida.

La tierra está en la mayor consternación por la ira del Señor de los ejércitos, y el pueblo será como cebo del fuego; el hombre no perdonará a su propio hermano.
Porque la maldad se encendió como fuego, cardos y espinas devorará; y encenderáse en lo espeso de la breña, y serán alzados como humo.
For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

Y volverá a la derecha para devorarlo todo, y aún tendrá hambre, y comerá cuanto halle a la izquierda, y tampoco podrá saciarse; cada uno devorará la carne de su mismo brazo. Manasés devastará a Efraín, y Efraín a Manasés; luego ambos se unirán contra Judá.
Por la ira de Jehová de los ejércitos se oscureció la tierra, y será el pueblo como pábulo del fuego: el hombre no tendrá piedad de su hermano.
Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
Through the LORD of Armies’ wrath, the land is burned up; and the people are the fuel for the fire. No one spares his brother.
A pesar de todas estas cosas no está aplacada la ira del Señor, sino que aún está levantado su brazo.
Cada uno hurtará á la mano derecha, y tendrá hambre; y comerá á la izquierda, y no se hartará: cada cual comerá la carne de su brazo:
And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
One will devour on the right hand, and be hungry; and he will eat on the left hand, and they will not be satisfied. Everyone will eat the flesh of his own arm:
¡Ay de aquellos que establecen leyes inicuas, y escriben continuamente sentencias de injusticia,
Manasés á Ephraim, y Ephraim á Manasés, y entrambos contra Judá. Ni con todo esto ha cesado su furor, antes todavía extendida su mano.
