Ne voyez qu'un sujet de joie, mes frères, dans les épreuves de toute sorte qui tombent sur vous ;

Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,

sachant que l'épreuve de votre foi produit la patience.

Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Mais que la patience soit accompagnée d'œuvres parfaites, afin que vous soyez parfaits et accomplis, ne laissant à désirer en rien.

Mas tenga la paciencia perfecta su obra, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Si la sagesse fait défaut à quelqu'un d'entre vous, qu'il la demande à Dieu, lequel donne à tous simplement, sans rien reprocher ; et elle lui sera donnée.

Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Mais qu'il demande avec foi, sans hésiter ; car celui qui hésite est semblable au flot de la mer, agité et ballotté par le vent.

Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

Que cet homme-là ne pense donc pas qu'il recevra quelque chose du Seigneur :

No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá ninguna cosa del Señor.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

homme à deux âmes, inconstant dans toutes ses voies.

El hombre de doblado ánimo es inconstante en todos sus caminos.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Que le frère pauvre se glorifie de son élévation.

El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

Et que le riche mette sa gloire dans son abaissement ; car il passera comme l'herbe fleurie :

Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

le soleil s'est levé brûlant, et il a desséché l'herbe, et sa fleur est tombée, et toute sa beauté a disparu ; de même aussi le riche se flétrira avec ses entreprises.

Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.

Heureux l'homme qui supportera l'épreuve ! Devenu un homme éprouvé, il recevra la couronne de vie que Dieu a promise à ceux qui l'aiment.

Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.

Que nul, lorsqu'il est tenté, ne dise : " C'est Dieu qui me tente " ; car Dieu ne saurait être tenté de mal, et lui-même ne tente personne.

Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Mais chacun est tenté par sa propre convoitise, qui l'amorce et l'entraîne.

Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

Ensuite la convoitise, lorsqu'elle a conçu, enfante le péché, et le péché, lorsqu'il est consommé, engendre la mort.

Y la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, pare el pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.

Ne vous abusez pas, mes frères bien-aimés.

Amados hermanos míos, no erréis.

Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers.

Tout don excellent, toute grâce parfaite, descend d'en haut, du Père des lumières, en qui n'existe aucune vicissitude, ni ombre de changement.

Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

De sa propre volonté, il nous a engendrés par la parole de la vérité, afin que nous soyons comme les prémices de ses créatures.

El, de su voluntad nos ha engendrado por la palabra de verdad, para que seamos primicias de sus criaturas.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Mes frères bien-aimés, vous le savez, que l'homme soit prompt à écouter, lent à parler, lent à se mettre en colère.

Por esto, mis amados hermanos, todo hombre sea pronto para oir, tardío para hablar, tardío para airarse:

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;

Car la colère de l'homme n'opère point la justice de Dieu.

Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

C'est pourquoi, rejetant toute souillure et toute excroissance de méchanceté, recevez avec douceur la parole qui a été entée en vous, et qui peut sauver vos âmes.

Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Mais efforcez-vous de la mettre en pratique, et ne vous contentez pas de l'écouter, en vous abusant vous-mêmes par de faux raisonnements.

Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos á vosotros mismos.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

Car, si quelqu'un écoute la parole et ne l'observe pas, il est semblable à un homme qui regarde dans un miroir le visage qu'il tient de la nature :

Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

à peine s'est-il considéré, qu'il s'en est allé, oubliant aussitôt quel il était.

Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Celui, au contraire, qui fixe son regard sur la loi parfaite, la loi de liberté, et qui l'y tient attaché, n'écoutant pas pour oublier aussitôt, mais pratiquant ce qu'il a entendu, celui-là trouvera son bonheur en l'accomplissant.

Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Si quelqu'un s'imagine être religieux sans mettre un frein à sa langue, il s'abuse lui-même et sa religion est vaine.

Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

La religion pure et sans tache devant notre Dieu et Père, n'est pas autre qu'avoir soin des orphelins et des veuves dans leur détresse, et se préserver pur des souillures de ce monde.

La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
