REPUTATE compiuta allegrezza, fratelli miei, quando sarete caduti in diverse tentazioni;

Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,

sapendo che la prova della vostra fede produce pazienza.

Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Or abbia la pazienza un'opera compiuta; acciocchè voi siate compiuti ed intieri, non mancando di nulla.

Mas tenga la paciencia perfecta su obra, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Che se alcun di voi manca di sapienza, chieggala a Dio, che dona a tutti liberalmente, e non fa onta, e gli sarà donata.

Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Ma chieggala in fede, senza star punto in dubbio; perciocchè chi sta in dubbio è simile al fiotto del mare, agitato dal vento e dimenato.

Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

Imperocchè, non pensi già quel tal uomo di ricever nulla dal Signore;

No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá ninguna cosa del Señor.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

essendo uomo doppio di cuore, instabile in tutte le sue vie.

El hombre de doblado ánimo es inconstante en todos sus caminos.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Or il fratello che è in basso stato si glorii della sua altezza.

El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

E il ricco, della sua bassezza; perciocchè egli trapasserà come fior d'erba.

Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

Imperocchè, come quando è levato il sole con l'arsura, egli ha tosto seccata l'erba, e il suo fiore è caduto, e la bellezza della sua apparenza è perita, così ancora si appasserà il ricco nelle sue vie.

Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.

Beato l'uomo che sopporta la tentazione; perciocchè, essendosi reso approvato, egli riceverà la corona della vita, la quale il Signore ha promessa a coloro che l'amano.

Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.

Niuno, essendo tentato, dica: Io son tentato da Dio; poichè Iddio non può esser tantato di mali, e altresì non tenta alcuno.

Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Ma ciascuno è tentato, essendo attratto e adescato dalla propria concupiscenza.

Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

Poi appresso, la concupiscenza, avendo conceputo, partorisce il peccato; e il peccato, essendo compiuto, genera la morte.

Y la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, pare el pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.

Non errate, fratelli miei diletti:

Amados hermanos míos, no erréis.

Do not err, my beloved brethren.

Don’t be deceived, my beloved brothers.

ogni buona donazione, ed ogni dono perfetto, è da alto, discendendo dal padre dei lumi, nel quale non vi è mutamento, nè ombra di cambiamento.

Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Egli ci ha di sua volontà generati per la parola della verità, acciocchè siamo in certo modo le primizie delle sue creature.

El, de su voluntad nos ha engendrado por la palabra de verdad, para que seamos primicias de sus criaturas.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

PERCIÒ, fratelli miei diletti, sia ogni uomo pronto all'udire, tardo al parlare, lento all'ira.

Por esto, mis amados hermanos, todo hombre sea pronto para oir, tardío para hablar, tardío para airarse:

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;

Perciocchè l'ira dell'uomo non mette in opera la giustizia di Dio.

Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

Perciò, deposta ogni lordura, e feccia di malizia, ricevete con mansuetudine la parola innestata in voi, la quale può salvar le anime vostre.

Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

E siate facitori della parola, e non solo uditori; ingannando voi stessi.

Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos á vosotros mismos.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

Perciocchè, se alcuno è uditor della parola, e non facitore, egli è simile ad un uomo che considera la sua natia faccia in uno specchio.

Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

Imperocchè, dopo ch'egli si è mirato, egli se ne va, e subito ha dimenticato quale egli fosse.

Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Ma chi avrà riguardato bene addentro nella legge perfetta, che è la legge della libertà, e sarà perseverato; esso, non essendo uditore dimentichevole, ma facitor dell'opera, sarà beato nel suo operare.

Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Se alcuno pare esser religioso fra voi, e non tiene a freno la sua lingua, ma seduce il cuor suo, la religion di quel tale è vana.

Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

La religione pura ed immacolata, dinanzi a Dio e Padre, è questa; visitar gli orfani, e le vedove, nelle loro afflizioni; e conservarsi puro dal mondo.

La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
