Meine lieben Brüder, achtet es für eitel Freude, wenn ihr in mancherlei Anfechtungen fallet,

Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

und wisset, daß euer Glaube, wenn er rechtschaffen ist, Geduld wirkt.

Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Die Geduld aber soll festbleiben bis ans Ende, auf daß ihr seid vollkommen und ganz und keinen Mangel habet.

Mas tenga la paciencia perfecta su obra, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

So aber jemand unter euch Weisheit mangelt, der bitte Gott, der da gibt einfältig jedermann und rücket's niemand auf, so wird sie ihm gegeben werden.

Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Er bitte aber im Glauben und zweifle nicht; denn wer da zweifelt, der ist wie die Meereswoge, die vom Winde getrieben und gewebt wird.

Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.

Solcher Mensch denke nicht, daß er etwas von dem HERRN empfangen werde.

No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá ninguna cosa del Señor.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord.

Ein Zweifler ist unbeständig in allen seinen Wegen.

El hombre de doblado ánimo es inconstante en todos sus caminos.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Ein Bruder aber, der niedrig ist, rühme sich seiner Höhe;

El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

und der da reich ist, rühme sich seiner Niedrigkeit, denn wie eine Blume des Grases wird er vergehen.

Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

Die Sonne geht auf mit der Hitze, und das Gras verwelkt, und seine Blume fällt ab, und seine schöne Gestalt verdirbt: also wird der Reiche in seinen Wegen verwelken.

Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.

Selig ist der Mann, der die Anfechtung erduldet; denn nachdem er bewährt ist, wird er die Krone des Lebens empfangen, welche Gott verheißen hat denen, die ihn liebhaben.

Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.

Niemand sage, wenn er versucht wird, daß er von Gott versucht werde. Denn Gott kann nicht versucht werden zum Bösen, und er selbst versucht niemand.

Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Sondern ein jeglicher wird versucht, wenn er von seiner eigenen Lust gereizt und gelockt wird.

Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

Darnach, wenn die Lust empfangen hat, gebiert sie die Sünde; die Sünde aber, wenn sie vollendet ist, gebiert sie den Tod.

Y la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, pare el pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin. The sin, when it is full grown, produces death.

Alle gute Gabe und alle vollkommene Gabe kommt von obenherab, von dem Vater des Lichts, bei welchem ist keine Veränderung noch Wechsel des Lichtes und der Finsternis.

Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Er hat uns gezeugt nach seinem Willen durch das Wort der Wahrheit, auf daß wir wären Erstlinge seiner Kreaturen.

El, de su voluntad nos ha engendrado por la palabra de verdad, para que seamos primicias de sus criaturas.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Darum, liebe Brüder, ein jeglicher Mensch sei schnell, zu hören, langsam aber, zu reden, und langsam zum Zorn.

Por esto, mis amados hermanos, todo hombre sea pronto para oir, tardío para hablar, tardío para airarse:

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;

Denn des Menschen Zorn tut nicht, was vor Gott recht ist.

Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

Darum so leget ab alle Unsauberkeit und alle Bosheit und nehmet das Wort an mit Sanftmut, das in euch gepflanzt ist, welches kann eure Seelen selig machen.

Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Seid aber Täter des Worts und nicht Hörer allein, wodurch ihr euch selbst betrügt.

Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos á vosotros mismos.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

Denn so jemand ist ein Hörer des Worts und nicht ein Täter, der ist gleich einem Mann, der sein leiblich Angesicht im Spiegel beschaut.

Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

Denn nachdem er sich beschaut hat, geht er davon und vergißt von Stund an, wie er gestaltet war.

Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Wer aber durchschaut in das vollkommene Gesetz der Freiheit und darin beharrt und ist nicht ein vergeßlicher Hörer, sondern ein Täter, der wird selig sein in seiner Tat.

Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

So sich jemand unter euch läßt dünken, er diene Gott, und hält seine Zunge nicht im Zaum, sondern täuscht sein Herz, des Gottesdienst ist eitel.

Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Ein reiner unbefleckter Gottesdienst vor Gott dem Vater ist der: Die Waisen und Witwen in ihrer Trübsal besuchen und sich von der Welt unbefleckt erhalten.

La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
