Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Sabei que a prova da vossa fé produz perseverança.
Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Deixai a perseverança completar a sua obra, para que vos torneis plenamente desenvolvidos e completos, de modo que não vos falte coisa alguma.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Mas, se algum de vós necessita de sabedoria, que peça a Deus, pois Ele dá generosamente sem censurar quem pede; e Ele lhe concederá.
Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Mas que peça com fé, sem duvidar, porque aquele que duvida é como uma onda no mar, dirigida pelo vento e lançada de um lado para outro.
Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Essa pessoa, pois, não deve pensar que receberá algo do Senhor;

O irmão pobre deve gloriar-se na sua exaltação,
El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
mas o homem rico deve gloriar-se na sua humilhação, porque ele perecerá como a flor do campo.
Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.
But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

Porque o sol nasce com calor abrasador e seca a grama. A flor cai, e a sua beleza perece. Da mesma maneira, o rico desaparecerá durante sua jornada.
Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.
For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.
Feliz é o homem que suporta a provação, porque, depois de ser aprovado, ele receberá a coroa da vida, que foi prometida àqueles que amam a Deus.
Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.
Ninguém, quando tentado, deve dizer "Sou tentado por Deus", porque Deus não é tentado pelo mal, e Ele mesmo a ninguém tenta.
Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
Mas cada pessoa é tentada pelo seu próprio desejo, que a atrai e a arrasta.
Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Toda boa dádiva e todo dom perfeito vem do alto. Descendo do Pai das luzes. Nele não há mudança ou sombra de variação.

Porque a ira do homem não opera a justiça de Deus.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Portanto livrai-vos de toda imundície pecaminosa e abundância do mal. Recebei em humildade a palavra implantada, que é capaz de salvar vossas almas.
Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Sede praticantes da palavra, não apenas ouvintes, enganando a vós mesmos.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Porque, se alguém é um ouvinte da palavra e não é um praticante, ele é semelhante a alguém que olha o seu rosto natural em um espelho.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

Ele olha o próprio rosto, vai embora, e logo se esquece de como ele era.
Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.
For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
Mas aquele que cuidadosamente atenta para a perfeita lei da liberdade, e continua fazendo isso, não sendo apenas um ouvinte que se esquece, esse homem será abençoado no que fizer.
Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.
Se alguém se considera religioso, mas não controla sua língua, ele engana seu coração, e sua religião é sem valor.
Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
A religião pura e imaculada diante de nosso Deus e Pai é esta: ajudar órfãos e viúvas em suas aflições, e manter-se incontaminado do mundo.
La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
