Achtet es, meine Brüder, für eitel Freude, wenn ihr in mancherlei Anfechtungen fallet,

Hermanos míos, tened por sumo gozo cuando cayereis en diversas tentaciones;

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

Und wisset, daß die Prüfung eures Glaubens Standhaftigkeit bewirkt.

Sabiendo que la prueba de vuestra fe obra paciencia.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Standhaftigkeit aber soll ihr Werk vollkommen machen, auf daß ihr seid vollkommen und vollendet, und es an nichts fehlen lasset.

Mas tenga la paciencia perfecta su obra, para que seáis perfectos y cabales, sin faltar en alguna cosa.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

So aber einem unter euch an Weisheit gebricht, so bitte er Gott darum, Der da einfältig jedem gibt und keinem es aufrückt, so wird sie ihm gegeben werden.

Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, demándela á Dios, el cual da á todos abundantemente, y no zahiere; y le será dada.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Er bitte aber im Glauben und zweifle nicht; denn der, so da zweifelt, gleicht der Meereswoge, die, vom Winde ergriffen, hinund hergeworfen wird.

Pero pida en fe, no dudando nada: porque el que duda es semejante á la onda de la mar, que es movida del viento, y echada de una parte á otra.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

Ein solcher Mensch wähne ja nicht, daß er etwas vom Herrn empfangen werde.

No piense pues el tal hombre que recibirá ninguna cosa del Señor.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

Ein wankelmütiger Mensch ist unbeständig auf allen seinen Wegen.

Der niedrige Bruder aber rühme sich seiner Hoheit,

El hermano que es de baja suerte, gloríese en su alteza:

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

Let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;

Und der Reiche rühme sich seiner Niedrigkeit; denn wie die Blume des Grases wird er vergehen.

Mas el que es rico, en su bajeza; porque él se pasará como la flor de la hierba.

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

Die Sonne geht auf mit ihrer Glut und dörrt das Gras, und seine Blume fällt ab, und mit ihrer Pracht ist es zu Ende; also vergeht auch der Reiche mitten in seinem Treiben.

Porque salido el sol con ardor, la hierba se secó, y su flor se cayó, y pereció su hermosa apariencia: así también se marchitará el rico en todos sus caminos.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

For the sun arises with the scorching wind and withers the grass; and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So the rich man will also fade away in his pursuits.

Glücklich ist der Mann, der in der Versuchung aushält; denn wenn er sich bewährt, empfängt er den Siegeskranz des Lebens, den der Herr denen, die Ihn lieben, verheißen hat.

Bienaventurado el varón que sufre la tentación; porque cuando fuere probado, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido á los que le aman.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord promised to those who love him.

Niemand sage, wenn er versucht wird, daß er von Gott versucht werde; denn Gott wird nicht versucht vom Bösen, und versucht auch Selber niemand.

Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de Dios: porque Dios no puede ser tentado de los malos, ni él tienta á alguno:

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Let no man say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God can’t be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Sondern ein jeglicher wird versucht, wenn er von seiner eigenen Lust fortgerissen und verlockt wird.

Sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído, y cebado.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed.

Danach, wenn die Lust empfangen hat, gebiert sie die Sünde, die Sünde aber, wenn sie vollendet ist, gebiert den Tod.

Y la concupiscencia, después que ha concebido, pare el pecado: y el pecado, siendo cumplido, engendra muerte.

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Irrt euch nicht, geliebte Brüder!

Alle gute Gabe und alle vollkommene Gabe kommt von oben herab vom Vater der Lichter, bei Dem ist keine Wandlung, noch wechselnde Beschattung.

Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto es de lo alto, que desciende del Padre de las luces, en el cual no hay mudanza, ni sombra de variación.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Denn des Menschen Zorn tut nicht, was vor Gott recht ist.

Porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios.

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God.

Darum legt ab alle Unsauberkeit und allen Auswuchs der Bosheit, und nehmt in Sanftmut auf die euch eingepflanzte Lehre, die eure Seelen retten kann.

Por lo cual, dejando toda inmundicia y superfluidad de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra ingerida, la cual puede hacer salvas vuestras almas.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Seid aber Täter des Wortes und nicht Hörer allein, womit ihr euch selbst betrügt.

Mas sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos á vosotros mismos.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Denn so jemand das Wort hört und nicht tut, gleicht er einem Manne, der sein leiblich Angesicht im Spiegel beschaut.

Porque si alguno oye la palabra, y no la pone por obra, este tal es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural.

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;

Denn nachdem er sich beschaut hat, geht er davon, und vergißt alsbald, wie er aussah.

Porque él se consideró á sí mismo, y se fué, y luego se olvidó qué tal era.

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Wer aber in das vollkommene Gesetz der Freiheit hineingeschaut und dabei beharrt hat, und kein vergeßlicher Hörer, sondern ein wirklicher Täter geworden ist, der wird selig durch sein Tun.

Mas el que hubiere mirado atentamente en la perfecta ley, que es la de la libertad, y perseverado en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, este tal será bienaventurado en su hecho.

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

So aber einer sich dünkt gottesfürchtig zu sein und hält seine Zunge nicht im Zaum, sondern täuscht sich über sein Herz, dessen Gottesfurcht ist eitel.

Si alguno piensa ser religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino engañando su corazón, la religión del tal es vana.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Eine reine und unbefleckte Gottesfurcht ist vor Gott dem Vater die, daß man die Waisen und Witwen in ihrer Trübsal heimsucht, und sich unbefleckt von der Welt erhält.

La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios y Padre es esta: Visitar los huérfanos y las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha de este mundo.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
