Nicht viele †von euch sollen Lehrer werden, meine Geschwister, denn ihr wisst, dass wir †Lehrer ein strengeres Urteil empfangen werden.

HERMANOS míos, no os hagáis muchos maestros, sabiendo que recibiremos mayor condenación.

My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.

Let not many of you be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment.

Denn wir alle straucheln (stoßen an) vielfach (in vieler Hinsicht). Wenn jemand beim Reden nicht strauchelt, †ist er ein vollendeter (reifer, erwachsener) Mensch (Mann), fähig, auch den ganzen Körper zu zügeln (in Zaum zu halten).

Porque todos ofendemos en muchas cosas. Si alguno no ofende en palabra, éste es varón perfecto, que también puede con freno gobernar todo el cuerpo.

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

For we all stumble in many things. Anyone who doesn’t stumble in word is a perfect person, able to bridle the whole body also.

{aber} Wenn wir den Pferden {das} Zaumzeug (Zügel) ins Maul legen, damit sie uns gehorchen, dann lenken wir ihren ganzen Körper.

He aquí nosotros ponemos frenos en las bocas de los caballos para que nos obedezcan, y gobernamos todo su cuerpo.

Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

Seht (Siehe) auch die Schiffe: Obwohl sie so groß sind und von rauen Winden getrieben werden, werden sie von einem winzigen Steuerruder gelenkt, wohin die Absicht (Drang, Eifer, Trachten) des Steuermanns wünscht.

So ist auch die Zunge ein kleines Glied und prahlt †doch mit großen †Dingen. Seht (Siehe), welch kleines Feuer welch großen Wald (Holz) anzündet!

Así también, la lengua es un miembro pequeño, y se gloría de grandes cosas. He aquí, un pequeño fuego ¡cuán grande bosque enciende!

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

Auch die Zunge †ist ein Feuer: †Als die Welt des Unrechts steht die Zunge unter unseren Gliedern da; sie, die den ganzen Körper beschmutzt und das Rad des Werdens in Brand setzt, wird †selbst von der Hölle in Brand gesetzt.

Y la lengua es un fuego, un mundo de maldad. Así la lengua está puesta entre nuestros miembros, la cual contamina todo el cuerpo, é inflama la rueda de la creación, y es inflamada del infierno.

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

Jede Art †der Säugetiere wie auch †der Vögel, †der Kriechtiere wie auch †der Meerestiere wird gezähmt und ist †durch die menschliche Art (Natur) gezähmt worden,

Porque toda naturaleza de bestias, y de aves, y de serpientes, y de seres de la mar, se doma y es domada de la naturaleza humana:

For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

aber die Zunge vermag kein Mensch zu bändigen, †das ruhelose (unruhige, unkontrollierte, wankelmütige) Übel, voller tödlichen (todbringenden) Gifts.

Pero ningún hombre puede domar la lengua, que es un mal que no puede ser refrenado; llena de veneno mortal.

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Mit ihr loben (reden wir gut von) wir den Herrn und Vater, und mit ihr verfluchen die Menschen, die nach der Ähnlichkeit (Gleichheit, Übereinstimmung. Klassisch: Bild, Ebenbild) Gottes erschaffen sind:

Con ella bendecimos al Dios y Padre, y con ella maldecimos á los hombres, los cuales son hechos á la semejanza de Dios.

Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

aus demselben Mund kommt Segen und Fluch. Es darf nicht sein, meine Geschwister, †dass dies so geschieht!

De una misma boca proceden bendición y maldición. Hermanos míos, no conviene que estas cosas sean así hechas.

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Lässt etwa die Quelle aus derselben Öffnung süßes und bitteres †Wasser quellen?

¿Echa alguna fuente por una misma abertura agua dulce y amarga?

Meine Geschwister, kann etwa ein Feigenbaum Oliven hervorbringen, oder ein Weinstock Feigen? Auch eine salzige †Quelle †kann kein Süßwasser hervorbringen.

Hermanos míos, ¿puede la higuera producir aceitunas, ó la vid higos? Así ninguna fuente puede hacer agua salada y dulce.

Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water.

Wer †ist weise und kundig (verständig, gebildet) unter euch? Er soll durch {die} gute Lebensführung seine Werke in (durch) Bescheidenheit (Demut, Sanftmut) †aus Weisheit erweisen (muss erweisen)!

¿Quién es sabio y avisado entre vosotros? muestre por buena conversación sus obras en mansedumbre de sabiduría.

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.

Aber wenn ihr bittere Eifersucht und Selbstsucht in eurem Herzen habt, rühmt euch nicht und lügt †nicht wider die Wahrheit!

Pero si tenéis envidia amarga y contención en vuestros corazones, no os gloriéis, ni seáis mentirosos contra la verdad:

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and don’t lie against the truth.

Dies ist nicht die Weisheit, die von oben herabkommt, sondern †ist irdisch, weltlich, natürlich †und dämonisch.

Que esta sabiduría no es la que desciende de lo alto, sino terrena, animal, diabólica.

This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.

Denn wo †immer es Eifersucht und Selbstsucht †gibt, dort †gibt es Unordnung (Unruhe) und jede †Art von gemeinem (niederem, schlimmem) Tun (Sache, Tat; Rechtsstreit).

Porque donde hay envidia y contención, allí hay perturbación y toda obra perversa.

For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.

Doch die Weisheit, †die von oben †kommt, ist {zwar} zuerst rein, dann friedfertig, gütig (nachgiebig, milde), folgsam (belehrbar, gehorsam), voller Barmherzigkeit und guter Früchte, unparteiisch †und ohne Heuchelei.

Mas la sabiduría que es de lo alto, primeramente es pura, después pacífica, modesta, benigna, llena de misericordia y de buenos frutos, no juzgadora, no fingida.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Und (aber) †die Ernte †der Gerechtigkeit wird in Frieden gesät für jene, die Frieden stiften.

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
