Todos cometemos errores de muchas maneras. El que no comete errores en lo que dice es realmente una persona buena que puede mantener todo su cuerpo bajo control.
Porque todos ofendemos en muchas cosas. Si alguno no ofende en palabra, éste es varón perfecto, que también puede con freno gobernar todo el cuerpo.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

Amigos míos, así como una higuera no puede producir olivas, y una viña no puede producir higos, una fuente de agua salada no puede producir agua dulce y fresca.
Hermanos míos, ¿puede la higuera producir aceitunas, ó la vid higos? Así ninguna fuente puede hacer agua salada y dulce.
Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

¿Quién entre ustedes tiene sabiduría y entendimiento? Pues permita que su buen vivir demuestre lo que hace, actuando rectamente, con sabia bondad y consideración.
¿Quién es sabio y avisado entre vosotros? muestre por buena conversación sus obras en mansedumbre de sabiduría.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Pero si tienes celos amargos y ambición egoísta en tu corazón, no te jactes de ello ni quieras mentirle a la verdad.

Esta clase de “sabiduría” no viene de arriba, sino que es terrenal, carente de espiritualidad, y demoníaca.
Que esta sabiduría no es la que desciende de lo alto, sino terrena, animal, diabólica.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

Dondequiera haya celos y ambición egoísta, también habrá confusión y todo tipo de prácticas malas.
Porque donde hay envidia y contención, allí hay perturbación y toda obra perversa.

Sin embargo, la sabiduría que viene de arriba es pura sobre todas las cosas, y también trae paz. Es noble y abierta a la razón. Está llena de misericordia y produce cosas buenas. Es genuina y no hipócrita.
Mas la sabiduría que es de lo alto, primeramente es pura, después pacífica, modesta, benigna, llena de misericordia y de buenos frutos, no juzgadora, no fingida.
