Santiago 4

Demütiget euch vor Gott, so wird er euch erhöhen.

¿DE dónde vienen las guerras y los pleitos entre vosotros? ¿No son de vuestras concupiscencias, las cuales combaten en vuestros miembros?

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members?

Afterredet nicht untereinander, liebe Brüder! Wer seinem Bruder afterredet und urteilet seinen Bruder, der afterredet dem Gesetz und urteilet das Gesetz. Urteilest du aber das Gesetz, so bist du nicht ein Täter des Gesetzes, sondern ein Richter.

Codiciáis, y no tenéis; matáis y ardéis de envidia, y no podéis alcanzar; combatís y guerreáis, y no tenéis lo que deseáis, porque no pedís.

Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.

Es ist ein einiger Gesetzgeber, der kann selig machen und verdammen. Wer bist du, der du einen andern urteilest?

Pedís, y no recibís, porque pedís mal, para gastar en vuestros deleites.

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

Wohlan, die ihr nun saget: Heute oder morgen wollen wir gehen in die oder die Stadt und wollen ein Jahr da liegen und hantieren und gewinnen,

Adúlteros y adúlteras, ¿no sabéis que la amistad del mundo es enemistad con Dios? Cualquiera pues que quisiere ser amigo del mundo, se constituye enemigo de Dios.

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

die ihr nicht wisset, was morgen sein wird. Denn was ist euer Leben? Ein Dampf ist's, der eine kleine Zeit währet, danach aber verschwindet er.

¿Pensáis que la Escritura dice sin causa: El espíritu que mora en nosotros codicia para envidia?

Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?

Dafür ihr sagen solltet: So der HERR will, und wir leben, wollen wir dies oder das tun.

Mas él da mayor gracia. Por esto dice: Dios resiste á los soberbios, y da gracia á los humildes.

But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Nun aber rühmet ihr euch in eurem Hochmut. Aller solcher Ruhm ist böse.

Someteos pues á Dios; resistid al diablo, y de vosotros huirá.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Denn wer da weiß, Gutes zu tun, und tut's nicht, dem ist's Sünde.

Allegaos á Dios, y él se allegará á vosotros. Pecadores, limpiad las manos; y vosotros de doblado ánimo, purificad los corazones.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Wohlan nun, ihr Reichen, weinet und heulet über euer Elend, das über euch kommen wird!

Afligíos, y lamentad, y llorad. Vuestra risa se convierta en lloro, y vuestro gozo en tristeza.

Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.

Euer Reichtum ist verfaulet; eure Kleider sind mottenfräßig worden.

Humillaos delante del Señor, y él os ensalzará.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Euer Gold und Silber ist verrostet, und ihr Rost wird euch zum Zeugnis sein und wird euer Fleisch fressen wie ein Feuer. Ihr habt euch Schätze gesammelt an den letzten Tagen.

Hermanos, no murmuréis los unos de los otros. El que murmura del hermano, y juzga á su hermano, este tal murmura de la ley, y juzga á la ley; pero si tú juzgas á la ley, no eres guardador de la ley, sino juez.

Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Don’t speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

Siehe, der Arbeiter Lohn, die euer Land eingeerntet haben, und von euch abgebrochen ist, der schreiet; und das Rufen der Ernter ist kommen vor die Ohren des HERRN Zebaoth.

Uno es el dador de la ley, que puede salvar y perder: ¿quién eres tú que juzgas á otro?

There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?

Ihr habt wohlgelebet auf Erden und eure Wollust gehabt und eure Herzen geweidet als auf einen Schlachttag.

Ea ahora, los que decís: Hoy y mañana iremos á tal ciudad, y estaremos allá un año, y compraremos mercadería, y ganaremos:

Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”

Ihr habt verurteilet den Gerechten und getötet, und er hat euch nicht widerstanden.

Y no sabéis lo que será mañana. Porque ¿qué es vuestra vida? Ciertamente es un vapor que se aparece por un poco de tiempo, y luego se desvanece.

Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Yet you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

So seid nun geduldig, liebe Brüder, bis auf die Zukunft des HERRN! Siehe, ein Ackermann wartet auf die köstliche Frucht der Erde und ist geduldig darüber, bis daß er empfange den Morgenregen und Abendregen.

En lugar de lo cual deberíais decir: Si el Señor quisiere, y si viviéremos, haremos esto ó aquello.

For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”

Seid ihr auch geduldig und stärket eure Herzen; denn die Zukunft des HERRN ist nahe.

Mas ahora os jactáis en vuestras soberbias. Toda jactancia semejante es mala.

But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.

Seufzet nicht widereinander, liebe Brüder, auf daß ihr nicht verdammet werdet! Siehe, der Richter ist vor der Tür!

El pecado, pues, está en aquel que sabe hacer lo bueno, y no lo hace.

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

To him therefore who knows to do good and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.
