Woher kommen denn die Kämpfe (Kriege, Streitereien), und woher der Streit unter euch? Kommen sie nicht von euren Gelüsten, die ständig in euren Gliedern streiten?
¿DE dónde vienen las guerras y los pleitos entre vosotros? ¿No son de vuestras concupiscencias, las cuales combaten en vuestros miembros?
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members?
Ihr begehrt und habt doch nicht, ihr mordet (tötet; beneidet) und seid eifersüchtig und könnt doch nichts erreichen; ihr kämpft (streitet, zankt) und führt Kriege (kämpft); ihr habt nicht, weil ihr nicht (nichts) für euch bittet (fordert);
Codiciáis, y no tenéis; matáis y ardéis de envidia, y no podéis alcanzar; combatís y guerreáis, y no tenéis lo que deseáis, porque no pedís.
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.
ihr bittet und erhaltet doch nichts, weil ihr in böser Absicht für euch bittet (fordert), um (damit) es für eure Gelüste auszugeben.
Pedís, y no recibís, porque pedís mal, para gastar en vuestros deleites.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Ihr Ehebrecher, wisst ihr nicht, dass die Freundschaft (Liebe) zur Welt Feindschaft mit Gott ist? Also erweist (macht) sich jeder, der ein Freund der Welt sein will, als Feind Gottes.
Adúlteros y adúlteras, ¿no sabéis que la amistad del mundo es enemistad con Dios? Cualquiera pues que quisiere ser amigo del mundo, se constituye enemigo de Dios.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Oder meint ihr, dass die Schrift umsonst sagt: Eifersüchtig verlangt es ihn nach dem Geist, den er in uns wohnen ließ,
¿Pensáis que la Escritura dice sin causa: El espíritu que mora en nosotros codicia para envidia?
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?
aber er gibt umso größere Gnade? Deswegen sagt sie auch: „Gott stellt sich den Hochmütigen entgegen, den Geringen (Unbedeutenden; Demütigen) aber gibt er Gnade.“
Mas él da mayor gracia. Por esto dice: Dios resiste á los soberbios, y da gracia á los humildes.

Seid bedrückt (wehklagt), {und} klagt (trauert) und weint! Euer Lachen soll sich in Trauer verwandeln und eure Freude in Niedergeschlagenheit!
Afligíos, y lamentad, y llorad. Vuestra risa se convierta en lloro, y vuestro gozo en tristeza.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Demütigt (erniedrigt) euch vor dem Herrn, dann (und) wird er euch erhöhen!
Humillaos delante del Señor, y él os ensalzará.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Hört auf, einander zu verleumden (schlecht zu machen, schlecht über einander zu reden) (Verleumdet einander nicht), Geschwister! Wer seinen Bruder verleumdet oder seinen Bruder verurteilt, der verleumdet das Gesetz und verurteilt das Gesetz — wenn du aber das Gesetz verurteilst, bist du nicht Täter des Gesetzes, sondern sein Richter.
Hermanos, no murmuréis los unos de los otros. El que murmura del hermano, y juzga á su hermano, este tal murmura de la ley, y juzga á la ley; pero si tú juzgas á la ley, no eres guardador de la ley, sino juez.
Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
Don’t speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
Einer ist der Gesetzgeber und Richter, der die Macht hat (vermag, kann) zu retten und zu vernichten. Du aber, wer bist du, der du deinen Mitmenschen (Nächsten) verurteilst?
Uno es el dador de la ley, que puede salvar y perder: ¿quién eres tú que juzgas á otro?
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
Jetzt zu euch, die ihr sagt: „Heute oder morgen wollen wir in die oder die (diese oder jene) Stadt gehen und dort ein Jahr verbringen, {und} Handel treiben und Gewinn machen“;
Ea ahora, los que decís: Hoy y mañana iremos á tal ciudad, y estaremos allá un año, y compraremos mercadería, y ganaremos:
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”
die ihr (als solche, die) nicht wisst, wie euer Leben morgen sein wird — ihr seid nämlich Dampf (Rauch), der nur kurze Zeit sichtbar ist (sichtbar wird) und dann (danach) verschwindet.
Y no sabéis lo que será mañana. Porque ¿qué es vuestra vida? Ciertamente es un vapor que se aparece por un poco de tiempo, y luego se desvanece.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Yet you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Dagegen (stattdessen) sollt ihr sagen: „Wenn der Herr will, dann werden wir leben und dieses oder jenes tun.“
En lugar de lo cual deberíais decir: Si el Señor quisiere, y si viviéremos, haremos esto ó aquello.
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”
Nun (jetzt) aber rühmt ihr euch in euren Prahlereien. Alles (jede Art) deartige (solche) Rühmen ist böse!
Mas ahora os jactáis en vuestras soberbias. Toda jactancia semejante es mala.
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.
Also (nun) ist es für den, der weiß (versteht), was Gutes zu tun ist (Gutes zu tun weiß) und es nicht tut, {ihm} Sünde.
El pecado, pues, está en aquel que sabe hacer lo bueno, y no lo hace.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
To him therefore who knows to do good and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.
