Donde vengono le guerre e le contese fra voi? Non è egli da questo: cioè dalle vostre voluttà che guerreggiano nelle vostre membra?
¿DE dónde vienen las guerras y los pleitos entre vosotros? ¿No son de vuestras concupiscencias, las cuales combaten en vuestros miembros?
From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members?
Voi bramate e non avete; voi uccidete ed invidiate e non potete ottenere; voi contendete e guerreggiate; non avete, perché non domandate;
Codiciáis, y no tenéis; matáis y ardéis de envidia, y no podéis alcanzar; combatís y guerreáis, y no tenéis lo que deseáis, porque no pedís.
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.

Pedís, y no recibís, porque pedís mal, para gastar en vuestros deleites.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

O gente adultera, non sapete voi che l’amicizia del mondo è inimicizia contro Dio? Chi dunque vuol essere amico del mondo si rende nemico di Dio.
Adúlteros y adúlteras, ¿no sabéis que la amistad del mundo es enemistad con Dios? Cualquiera pues que quisiere ser amigo del mundo, se constituye enemigo de Dios.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
You adulterers and adulteresses, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Ovvero pensate voi che la Scrittura dichiari invano che lo Spirito ch’Egli ha fatto abitare in noi ci brama fino alla gelosia?
¿Pensáis que la Escritura dice sin causa: El espíritu que mora en nosotros codicia para envidia?
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously”?
Ma Egli dà maggior grazia; perciò la Scrittura dice:
Mas él da mayor gracia. Por esto dice: Dios resiste á los soberbios, y da gracia á los humildes.
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
Iddio resiste ai superbi e dà grazia agli umili. Sottomettetevi dunque a Dio; ma resistete al diavolo, ed egli fuggirà da voi.

Siate afflitti e fate cordoglio e piangete! Sia il vostro riso convertito in lutto, e la vostra allegrezza in mestizia!
Afligíos, y lamentad, y llorad. Vuestra risa se convierta en lloro, y vuestro gozo en tristeza.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Umiliatevi nel cospetto del Signore, ed Egli vi innalzerà.
Humillaos delante del Señor, y él os ensalzará.

Non parlate gli uni contro gli altri, fratelli. Chi parla contro un fratello, o giudica il suo fratello, parla contro la legge e giudica la legge. Ora, se tu giudichi la legge, non sei un osservatore della legge, ma un giudice.
Hermanos, no murmuréis los unos de los otros. El que murmura del hermano, y juzga á su hermano, este tal murmura de la ley, y juzga á la ley; pero si tú juzgas á la ley, no eres guardador de la ley, sino juez.
Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
Don’t speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
Uno soltanto è il legislatore e il giudice, Colui che può salvare e perdere; ma tu chi sei, che giudichi il tuo prossimo?
Uno es el dador de la ley, que puede salvar y perder: ¿quién eres tú que juzgas á otro?
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
Ed ora a voi che dite: oggi o domani andremo nella tal città e vi staremo un anno, e trafficheremo, e guadagneremo;
Ea ahora, los que decís: Hoy y mañana iremos á tal ciudad, y estaremos allá un año, y compraremos mercadería, y ganaremos:
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”
mentre non sapete quel che avverrà domani! Che cos’è la vita vostra? Poiché siete un vapore che appare per un po’ di tempo e poi svanisce.
Y no sabéis lo que será mañana. Porque ¿qué es vuestra vida? Ciertamente es un vapor que se aparece por un poco de tiempo, y luego se desvanece.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
Yet you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Invece di dire: se piace al Signore, saremo in vita e faremo questo o quest’altro.
En lugar de lo cual deberíais decir: Si el Señor quisiere, y si viviéremos, haremos esto ó aquello.
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”
Ma ora vi vantate con le vostre millanterie. Ogni cotal vanto è cattivo.
Mas ahora os jactáis en vuestras soberbias. Toda jactancia semejante es mala.
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.
Colui dunque che sa fare il bene, e non lo fa, commette peccato.
El pecado, pues, está en aquel que sabe hacer lo bueno, y no lo hace.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
To him therefore who knows to do good and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.
