1OR su al presente, ricchi, piangete, urlando per le miserie vostre, che sopraggiungono.
2Le vostre ricchezze son marcite, e i vostri vestimenti sono stati rosi dalle tignuole.
3L'oro e l'argento vostro è arrugginito e la lor ruggine sarà in testimonianza contro a voi, e divorerà le vostre carni, a guisa di fuoco; voi avete fatto un tesoro per gli ultimi giorni.
4Ecco, il premio degli operai che hanno mietuti i vostri campi, del quale sono stati frodati da voi, grida; e le grida di coloro che hanno mietuto sono entrate nelle orecchie del Signor degli eserciti.
5Voi siete vissuti sopra la terra in delizie e morbidezze; voi avete pasciuti i cuori vostri, come in giorno di solenne convito.
6Voi avete condannato, voi avete ucciso il giusto; egli non vi resiste.
7ORA dunque, fratelli, siete pazienti fino alla venuta del Signore; ecco, il lavoratore aspetta il prezioso frutto della terra con pazienza, finchè quello abbia ricevuta la pioggia della prima e dell'ultima stagione.
8Siate ancor voi pazienti; raffermate i cuori vostri; perciocchè l'avvenimento del Signore è vicino.
9Non sospirate gli uni contro agli altri, fratelli; acciocchè non siate giudicati; ecco il giudice è alla porta.
10Fratelli miei, prendete per esempio d'afflizione e di pazienza, i profeti, i quali hanno parlato nel Nome del Signore.
11Ecco, noi predichiamo beati coloro che hanno sofferto; voi avete udita la pazienza di Giobbe, ed avete veduto il fine del Signore; poichè il Signore è grandemente pietoso e misericordioso.
12Ora, innanzi ad ogni cosa, fratelli miei, non giurate nè per lo cielo, nè per la terra; nè fate alcun altro giuramento; anzi sia il vostro sì, sì, il no, no; acciocchè non cadiate in giudicio.
13Evvi alcun di voi afflitto? ori; evvi alcuno d'animo lieto? salmeggi.
14È alcuno di voi infermo? chiami gli anziami della chiesa, ed orino essi sopra lui, ungendolo d'olio, nel nome del Signore.
15E l'orazione della fede salverà il malato, e il Signore lo rileverà; e s'egli ha commessi de' peccati, gli saranno rimessi.
16Confessate i falli gli uni agli altri, ed orate gli uni per gli altri, acciocchè siate sanati; molto può l'orazione del giusto, fatta con efficacia.
17Elia era uomo sottoposto a medesime passioni come noi, e pur per orazione richiese che non piovesse, e non piovve sopra la terra lo spazio di tre anni e sei mesi.
18E di nuovo egli pregò, e il cielo diè della pioggia, e la terra produsse il suo frutto.
19Fratelli, se alcun di voi si svia dalla verità, ed alcuno lo converte;
20sappia colui, che chi avrà convertito un peccatore dall'error della sua via, salverà un'anima da morte, e coprirà moltitudine di peccati.

1EA ya ahora, oh ricos, llorad aullando por vuestras miserias que os vendrán.
2Vuestras riquezas están podridas: vuestras ropas están comidas de polilla.
3Vuestro oro y plata están corrompidos de orín; y su orín os será en testimonio, y comerá del todo vuestras carnes como fuego. Os habéis allegado tesoro para en los postreros días.
4He aquí, el jornal de los obreros que han segado vuestras tierras, el cual por engaño no les ha sido pagado de vosotros, clama; y los clamores de los que habían segado, han entrado en los oídos del Señor de los ejércitos.
5Habéis vivido en deleites sobre la tierra, y sido disolutos; habéis cebado vuestros corazones como en el día de sacrificios.
6Habéis condenado y muerto al justo; y él no os resiste.
7Pues, hermanos, tened paciencia hasta la venida del Señor. Mirad cómo el labrador espera el precioso fruto de la tierra, aguardando con paciencia, hasta que reciba la lluvia temprana y tardía.
8Tened también vosotros paciencia; confirmad vuestros corazones: porque la venida del Señor se acerca.
9Hermanos, no os quejéis unos contra otros, porque no seáis condenados; he aquí, el juez está delante de la puerta.
10Hermanos míos, tomad por ejemplo de aflicción y de paciencia, á los profetas que hablaron en nombre del Señor.
11He aquí, tenemos por bienaventurados á los que sufren. Habéis oído la paciencia de Job, y habéis visto el fin del Señor, que el Señor es muy misericordioso y piadoso.
12Mas sobre todo, hermanos míos, no juréis, ni por el cielo, ni por la tierra, ni por otro cualquier juramento; sino vuestro sí sea sí, y vuestro no sea no; porque no caigáis en condenación.
13¿Está alguno entre vosotros afligido? haga oración. ¿Está alguno alegre? cante salmos.
14¿Está alguno enfermo entre vosotros? llame á los ancianos de la iglesia, y oren por él, ungiéndole con aceite en el nombre del Señor.
15Y la oración de fe salvará al enfermo, y el Señor lo levantará; y si estuviere en pecados, le serán perdonados.
16Confesaos vuestras faltas unos á otros, y rogad los unos por los otros, para que seáis sanos; la oración del justo, obrando eficazmente, puede mucho.
17Elías era hombre sujeto á semejantes pasiones que nosotros, y rogó con oración que no lloviese, y no llovió sobre la tierra en tres años y seis meses.
18Y otra vez oró, y el cielo dió lluvia, y la tierra produjo su fruto.
19Hermanos, si alguno de entre vosotros ha errado de la verdad, y alguno le convirtiere,
20Sepa que el que hubiere hecho convertir al pecador del error de su camino, salvará un alma de muerte, y cubrirá multitud de pecados.

1Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
2Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.
3Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
4Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
5Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
6Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
7Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.
10Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.
11Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
12But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
13Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
18And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
19Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;
20Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

1Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you.
2Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten.
3Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.
4Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
5You have lived in luxury on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
6You have condemned and you have murdered the righteous one. He doesn’t resist you.
7Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.
8You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
9Don’t grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won’t be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.
10Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of perseverance, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
11Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
12But above all things, my brothers, don’t swear—not by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your “yes” be “yes”, and your “no”, “no”, so that you don’t fall into hypocrisy.
13Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises.
14Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
15and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
16Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
17Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn’t rain on the earth for three years and six months.
18He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
19Brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back,
20let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.
