Mas los hijos de Israel tornaron á hacer lo malo en los ojos de Jehová, y sirvieron á los Baales y á Astaroth, y á los dioses de Siria, y á los dioses de Sidón, y á los dioses de Moab, y á los dioses de los hijos de Ammón, y á los dioses de los Filisteos: y dejaron á Jehová, y no le sirvieron.
And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook the LORD, and served not him.

Dijeron entonces al Señor los hijos de Israel: Hemos pecado: haz tú de nosotros lo que te agradare: líbranos solamente ahora de nuestros opresores.
Y los hijos de Israel respondieron á Jehová: Hemos pecado; haz tú con nosotros como bien te pareciere: solamente que ahora nos libres en este día.

Dicho esto, arrojaron fuera de sus confines todos los ídolos de los dioses ajenos, y sirvieron al Señor Dios; el cual se compadeció de sus miserias.

Entonces los príncipes de Galaad convinieron entre sí, diciendo unos a otros: El primero de nosotros que comenzare a pelear contra los hijos de Amón, será caudillo del pueblo de Galaad.
Y los príncipes y el pueblo de Galaad dijeron el uno al otro: ¿Quién será el que comenzará la batalla contra los hijos de Ammón? él será cabeza sobre todos los que habitan en Galaad.
And the people and princes of Gilead said one to another, What man is he that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
