se volvió y habló a su padre y a su madre, diciendo: He visto en Tamnata una mujer entre las hijas de los filisteos, la que os ruego que me la toméis por esposa.
Y subió, y declarólo á su padre y á su madre, diciendo: Yo he visto en Timnah una mujer de las hijas de los Filisteos: ruégoos que me la toméis por mujer.
And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife.

Le dijeron su padre y su madre: Pues qué, ¿no hay mujeres entre las hijas de tus hermanos, y en todo nuestro pueblo, que quieres tomar esposa de la nación filistea, gente incircuncisa? Dijo Sansón a su padre: Pide ésta para esposa mía: pues me ha caído en gracia.
Y su padre y su madre le dijeron: ¿No hay mujer entre las hijas de tus hermanos, ni en todo mi pueblo, para que vayas tú á tomar mujer de los Filisteos incircuncisos? Y Samsón respondió á su padre: Tómamela por mujer, porque ésta agradó á mis ojos.
Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well.
Then his father and his mother said to him, “Isn’t there a woman among your brothers’ daughters, or among all my people, that you go to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines?” Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she pleases me well.”
Mas sus padres no sabían ser cosa dispuesta por el Señor, y que Sansón buscaba ocasión de dar contra los filisteos; por cuanto en aquel tiempo los filisteos dominaban sobre Israel.
Mas su padre y su madre no sabían que esto venía de Jehová, y que él buscaba ocasión contra los Filisteos: porque en aquel tiempo los Filisteos dominaban sobre Israel.
But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.

Bajó, pues, Sansón con su padre y madre a Tamnata; y al llegar a las viñas de la ciudad, se dejó ver un león cachorro, feroz y rugiendo, el cual arremetió contra él.
Y Samsón descendió con su padre y con su madre á Timnah: y como llegaron á las viñas de Timnah, he aquí un cachorro de león que venía bramando hacia él.

Mas el espíritu del Señor entró en Sansón, y despedazó éste al león haciéndole trizas, como si hubiese sido un cabrito; y eso que no tenía arma alguna en la mano; mas no quiso manifestar nada de esto al padre, ni a la madre.
Y el espíritu de Jehová cayó sobre él, y despedazólo como quien despedaza un cabrito, sin tener nada en su mano: y no dió á entender á su padre ni á su madre lo que había hecho.
And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
The LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he tore him as he would have torn a young goat with his bare hands, but he didn’t tell his father or his mother what he had done.
Bajó, pues, con ellos a Tamnata, y habló con la mujer que le había caído en gracia.

Pasado algún tiempo volviendo para casarse con ella, se apartó del camino para ver el cuerpo muerto del león, y he aquí que encontró en su boca un enjambre de abejas, y un panal de miel;

And after a time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion: and, behold, there was a swarm of bees and honey in the carcase of the lion.

el que habiendo cogido con las manos, se lo iba comiendo por el camino; y volviendo a unirse con su padre y su madre les dio parte de él, y comieron ellos también; mas no quiso descubrirles que había tomado la miel de la boca del león.
Y tomándolo en sus manos, fuése comiéndolo por el camino: y llegado que hubo á su padre y á su madre, dióles también á ellos que comiesen; mas no les descubrió que había tomado aquella miel del cuerpo del león.
And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion.
He took it into his hands, and went on, eating as he went. He came to his father and mother and gave to them, and they ate, but he didn’t tell them that he had taken the honey out of the lion’s body.
En fin, fue su padre a la casa de la mujer, y dispuso un convite para su hijo Sansón: que tal era la costumbre de los jóvenes novios.
Vino pues su padre á la mujer, y Samsón hizo allí banquete; porque así solían hacer los mancebos.

Habiéndole visitado los vecinos del lugar, le dieron treinta compañeros para que le obsequiasen.

A los cuales dijo Sansón: Voy a proponeros un enigma, que si me lo descifráis dentro de estos siete días del convite, os daré treinta vestidos y otras tantas túnicas;
A los cuales Samsón dijo: Yo os propondré ahora un enigma, el cual si en los siete días del banquete vosotros me declarareis y descubriereis, yo os daré treinta sábanas y treinta mudas de vestidos.
And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments:
Samson said to them, “Let me tell you a riddle now. If you can tell me the answer within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing;
pero si no pudiéreis aceptar, me daréis vosotros a mí los treinta vestidos y las treinta túnicas. Le respondieron ellos: Propón el enigma, para que nos enteremos.
Mas si no me lo supiereis declarar, vosotros me daréis las treinta sábanas y las treinta mudas de vestidos. Y ellos respondieron: Propónnos tu enigma, y lo oiremos.
But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it.
but if you can’t tell me the answer, then you shall give me thirty linen garments and thirty changes of clothing.” They said to him, “Tell us your riddle, that we may hear it.”
Les dijo, pues: Del devorador salió manjar; y del fuerte salió dulzura. En tres días no pudieron desatar el enigma.
Entonces les dijo: Del comedor salió comida, y del fuerte salió dulzura. Y ellos no pudieron declararle el enigma en tres días.
And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
He said to them, “Out of the eater came out food. Out of the strong came out sweetness.” They couldn’t in three days declare the riddle.
Mas cuando instaba ya el día séptimo, dijeron a la mujer de Sansón: Acaricia a tu esposo y persuádele que te descubra la significación del enigma; que si no lo haces, te quemaremos a ti y la casa de tu padre. ¿Por ventura nos habéis convidado a las bodas para despojarnos?
Y al séptimo día dijeron á la mujer de Samsón: Induce á tu marido á que nos declare este enigma, porque no te quememos á ti y á la casa de tu padre. ¿Habéisnos llamado aquí para poseernos?
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so?
On the seventh day, they said to Samson’s wife, “Entice your husband, that he may declare to us the riddle, lest we burn you and your father’s house with fire. Have you called us to impoverish us? Isn’t that so?”
Ella, pues, no cesaba de llorar delante de Sansón, y se le quejaba diciendo: Tú me has aborrecido, no me amas; y por eso no quieres declararme el enigma que propusiste a los jóvenes de mi pueblo. A lo que respondió: No quise decírselo a mi padre, ni a mi madre, ¿y quieres que te lo diga a ti?
Y lloró la mujer de Samsón delante de él, y dijo: Solamente me aborreces y no me amas, pues que no me declaras el enigma que propusiste á los hijos de mi pueblo. Y él respondió: He aquí que ni á mi padre ni á mi madre lo he declarado; y ¿habíalo de declarar á ti?
And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, “You just hate me, and don’t love me. You’ve told a riddle to the children of my people, and haven’t told it to me.” He said to her, “Behold, I haven’t told my father or my mother, so why should I tell you?”
Ella, no obstante, proseguía llorando delante de su esposo los siete días del convite; y al fin el séptimo día, importunándole más y más, le declaró Sansón el enigma; y ella inmediatamente lo descubrió a sus paisanos.
Y ella lloró delante de él los siete días que ellos tuvieron banquete: mas al séptimo día él se lo declaró, porque le constriñó; y ella lo declaró á los hijos de su pueblo.
And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people.

Estos, pues, el mismo día séptimo, antes de ponerse el sol, le dijeron: ¿Qué cosa más dulce que la miel; ni quién más fuerte que el león? Les respondió Sansón: Si no hubieseis arado con mi novilla, no descifrariais mi enigma.
Y al séptimo día, antes que el sol se pusiese, los de la ciudad le dijeron: ¿Qué cosa más dulce que la miel? ¿y qué cosa más fuerte que el león?
And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle.
The men of the city said to him on the seventh day before the sun went down, “What is sweeter than honey? What is stronger than a lion?” He said to them, “If you hadn’t plowed with my heifer, you wouldn’t have found out my riddle.”
Se apoderó de él después el espíritu del Señor, y fuese a Astalón, donde mató treinta hombres; y quitándoles los vestidos, se los dio a los que descifraron el enigma. Y enojado sobremanera, se volvió a la casa de su padre.
Y él les respondió: Si no araseis con mi novilla, nunca hubierais descubierto mi enigma.
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
The LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and he went down to Ashkelon and struck thirty men of them. He took their plunder, then gave the changes of clothing to those who declared the riddle. His anger burned, and he went up to his father’s house.
Entretanto su mujer, creyéndose abandonada, tomó por marido a uno de los amigos y compañeros de Sansón en las bodas.
Y el espíritu de Jehová cayó sobre él, y descendió á Ascalón, é hirió treinta hombres de ellos; y tomando sus despojos, dió las mudas de vestidos á los que habían explicado el enigma: y encendido en enojo fuése á casa de su padre. Y la mujer de Samsón fué dada á su compañero, con el cual él antes se acompañaba.
