1Poco tiempo después, en el momento del corte de grano, Sansón, llevando consigo a un cabrito, fue a ver a su esposa; Y él dijo: Entraré con mi mujer en la habitación conyugal. Pero su padre no lo dejó entrar.
2Y su padre dijo: Me pareció que solo tenías odio por ella; Así que se la di a tu amigo, pero ¿no es su hermana menor más hermosa que ella? así que por favor tómala en lugar de la otra.
3Entonces les dijo Sansón: Esta vez daré el pago completo a los filisteos, porque les haré gran mal.
4Entonces fue Sansón y tomó trescientos zorros y algunos palos de leña; y puso los zorros de cola a cola con un palo entre cada dos colas;
5Luego, disparando los palos, soltó a los zorros entre el grano sin cortar de los filisteos, y todos los tallos con cuerdas, así como el grano vivo y los viñedos y las aceitunas se incendiaron.
6Entonces los filisteos dijeron: ¿Quién ha hecho esto? Y dijeron: Sansón, el yerno de los timnitas, porque tomó a su esposa y se la dio a su amigo. Entonces los filisteos se acercaron y la quemaron a ella y a la casa de su padre.
7Y Sansón les dijo: Si continúas así, de verdad te quitaré todo el pago; Y ese será el final de eso.
8E hizo un ataque contra ellos, con tal furia, y causando gran destrucción; luego se fue a su lugar seguro en la grieta de la roca en Etam.
9Entonces los filisteos fueron y pusieron sus tiendas en Judá, alrededor de Lehi.
10Y los hombres de Judá preguntaron: ¿Por qué han venido a pelear contra nosotros? Y ellos contestaron: Hemos subido para tomar a Sansón, y para hacerle a él como él lo ha hecho con nosotros.
11Entonces tres mil de los hombres de Judá bajaron a la grieta de la roca de Etam y le dijeron a Sansón: ¿No te queda claro que los filisteos son nuestros gobernantes? ¿Qué es esto que nos has hecho? Y él les dijo: Yo solo les hice como ellos me hicieron a mí.
12Entonces le dijeron: Hemos bajado para llevarte y entregarte en manos de los filisteos. Y Sansón les dijo: Dame tu juramento de que no me matarán ustedes mismos.
13Y ellos dijeron: No; te llevaremos y te entregaremos en sus manos, pero en verdad no te mataremos. Entonces, anudando dos cuerdas nuevas a su alrededor, lo levantaron de la roca.
14Y cuando llegó a Lehi, los filisteos salieron y lo encontraron con fuertes gritos; entonces el espíritu del Señor vino sobre él, y las cuerdas en sus brazos se convirtieron en la hierba que ha sido quemada con fuego, y las bandas se cayeron de sus manos.
15Y tomando la quijada de un asno recién muerto, que vio por casualidad en la tierra, mató a mil hombres con ella.
16Y Sansón dijo: Con el hueso de la quijada de un asno hice uno y dos montones, con la quijada de un asno a mil hombres mate.
17Y habiendo dicho estas palabras, arrojó la quijada; por lo que ese lugar fue nombrado Ramat-lehi.
18Después de esto, él estaba en gran necesidad de agua, y clamando al Señor, él dijo: Tu has dado esta gran salvación de la mano de tu siervo, y ahora la necesidad de agua será mi muerte; y seré entregado en manos de esta gente que está sin circuncisión.
19Entonces Dios hizo una grieta en la roca hueca en Lehi y el agua salió de ella; y después de beber, su espíritu volvió a él y volvió a ser fuerte; por lo que ese lugar fue nombrado En-hacore; Está en Lehi hasta el día de hoy.
20Y él fue juez de Israel en los días de los filisteos por veinte años.

1Y ACONTECIÓ después de días, que en el tiempo de la siega del trigo, Samsón visitó á su mujer con un cabrito, diciendo: Entraré á mi mujer á la cámara. Mas el padre de ella no lo dejó entrar.
2Y dijo el padre de ella: Persuadíme que la aborrecías, y díla á tu compañero. Mas su hermana menor, ¿no es más hermosa que ella? tómala, pues, en su lugar.
3Y Samsón les respondió: Yo seré sin culpa esta vez para con los Filisteos, si mal les hiciere.
4Y fué Samsón y cogió trescientas zorras, y tomando teas, y trabando aquéllas por las colas, puso entre cada dos colas una tea.
5Después, encendiendo las teas, echó las zorras en los sembrados de los Filisteos, y quemó hacinas y mieses, y viñas y olivares.
6Y dijeron los Filisteos: ¿Quién hizo esto? Y fuéles dicho: Samsón, el yerno del Timnateo, porque le quitó su mujer y la dió á su compañero. Y vinieron los Filisteos, y quemaron á fuego á ella y á su padre.
7Entonces Samsón les dijo: ¿Así lo habíais de hacer? mas yo me vengaré de vosotros, y después cesaré.
8E hiriólos pierna y muslo con gran mortandad; y descendió, y fijóse en la cueva de la peña de Etam.
9Y los Filisteos subieron y pusieron campo en Judá, y tendiéronse por Lehi.
10Y los varones de Judá les dijeron: ¿Por qué habéis subido contra nosotros? Y ellos respondieron: A prender á Samsón hemos subido, para hacerle como él nos ha hecho.
11Y vinieron tres mil hombres de Judá á la cueva de la peña de Etam, y dijeron á Samsón: ¿No sabes tú que los Filisteos dominan sobre nosotros? ¿por qué nos has hecho esto? Y él les respondió: Yo les he hecho como ellos me hicieron.
12Ellos entonces le dijeron: Nosotros hemos venido para prenderte, y entregarte en mano de los Filisteos. Y Samsón les respondió: Juradme que vosotros no me mataréis.
13Y ellos le respondieron, diciendo: No, solamente te prenderemos, y te entregaremos en sus manos; mas no te mataremos. Entonces le ataron con dos cuerdas nuevas, é hiciéronle venir de la peña.
14Y así que vino hasta Lehi, los Filisteos le salieron á recibir con algazara: y el espíritu de Jehová cayó sobre él, y las cuerdas que estaban en sus brazos se tornaron como lino quemado con fuego, y las ataduras se cayeron de sus manos.
15Y hallando una quijada de asno fresca, extendió la mano y tomóla, é hirió con ella á mil hombres.
16Entonces Samsón dijo: con la quijada de un asno, un montón, dos montones; con la quijada de un asno herí mil hombres.
17Y acabando de hablar, echó de su mano la quijada, y llamó á aquel lugar Ramath-lehi.
18Y teniendo gran sed, clamó luego á Jehová, y dijo: Tú has dado esta gran salud por mano de tu siervo: ¿y moriré yo ahora de sed, y caeré en mano de los incircuncisos?
19Entonces quebró Dios una muela que estaba en la quijada, y salieron de allí aguas, y bebió, y recobró su espíritu, y reanimóse. Por tanto llamó su nombre de aquel lugar, En-haccore, el cual es en Lehi, hasta hoy.
20Y juzgó á Israel en días de los Filisteos veinte años.

1But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
2And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.
3And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
4And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
5And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.
6Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
7And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
8And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.
9Then the Philistines went up, and pitched in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
10And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
11Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
12And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
13And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
14And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
15And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
16And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
17And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lehi.
18And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
19But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
20And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
World English Bible
1But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a young goat. He said, “I will go in to my wife’s room.” But her father wouldn’t allow him to go in.
2Her father said, “I most certainly thought that you utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please, take her instead.”
3Samson said to them, “This time I will be blameless in the case of the Philistines when I harm them.”
4Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put a torch in the middle between every two tails.
5When he had set the torches on fire, he let them go into the standing grain of the Philistines, and burned up both the shocks and the standing grain, and also the olive groves.
6Then the Philistines said, “Who has done this?” They said, “Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and given her to his companion.” The Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire.
7Samson said to them, “If you behave like this, surely I will take revenge on you, and after that I will cease.”
8He struck them hip and thigh with a great slaughter; and he went down and lived in the cave in Etam’s rock.
9Then the Philistines went up, encamped in Judah, and spread themselves in Lehi.
10The men of Judah said, “Why have you come up against us?” They said, “We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.”
11Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cave in Etam’s rock, and said to Samson, “Don’t you know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?” He said to them, “As they did to me, so I have done to them.”
12They said to him, “We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” Samson said to them, “Swear to me that you will not attack me yourselves.”
13They spoke to him, saying, “No, but we will bind you securely and deliver you into their hands; but surely we will not kill you.” They bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.
14When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. Then the LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that was burned with fire; and his bands dropped from off his hands.
15He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, put out his hand, took it, and struck a thousand men with it.
16Samson said, “With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps on heaps; with the jawbone of a donkey I have struck a thousand men.”
17When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath Lehi.
18He was very thirsty, and called on the LORD and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of your servant; and now shall I die of thirst, and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”
19But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out of it. When he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived. Therefore its name was called En Hakkore, which is in Lehi, to this day.
20He judged Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines.
