Algún tiempo después durante la siega, Sansón tomó un cabrito para llevarlo como presente a su prometida, con la intención de consumar el matrimonio con ella, pero el padre de ella no lo dejó entrar.
Y ACONTECIÓ después de días, que en el tiempo de la siega del trigo, Samsón visitó á su mujer con un cabrito, diciendo: Entraré á mi mujer á la cámara. Mas el padre de ella no lo dejó entrar.
But it came to pass within a while after, in the time of wheat harvest, that Samson visited his wife with a kid; and he said, I will go in to my wife into the chamber. But her father would not suffer him to go in.
But after a while, in the time of wheat harvest, Samson visited his wife with a young goat. He said, “I will go in to my wife’s room.” But her father wouldn’t allow him to go in.
―Yo pensé que tú la odiabas —le explicó—, así que la di en matrimonio a tu amigo. Pero mira, su hermana es más hermosa que ella. Cásate con ella.
Y dijo el padre de ella: Persuadíme que la aborrecías, y díla á tu compañero. Mas su hermana menor, ¿no es más hermosa que ella? tómala, pues, en su lugar.
And her father said, I verily thought that thou hadst utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.
Her father said, “I most certainly thought that you utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion. Isn’t her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please, take her instead.”
Sansón estaba furioso: ―No puedes culparme por lo que ahora va a ocurrir —le dijo.
Y Samsón les respondió: Yo seré sin culpa esta vez para con los Filisteos, si mal les hiciere.
And Samson said concerning them, Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines, though I do them a displeasure.
Samson said to them, “This time I will be blameless in the case of the Philistines when I harm them.”
Entonces salió y cazó trescientas zorras y ató sus colas por pares. Puso luego antorchas entre cada dos colas

y las encendió, y echó las zorras por los campos de los filisteos, haciendo que se incendiara el trigo cortado y en pie, los viñedos y los olivos.

And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.

«¿Quién hizo esto?» —preguntaron los filisteos. «Sansón —fue la respuesta—, porque el padre de su prometida hizo que ella se casara con otro hombre». Entonces los filisteos vinieron, tomaron a la muchacha y a su padre y los quemaron vivos.
Y dijeron los Filisteos: ¿Quién hizo esto? Y fuéles dicho: Samsón, el yerno del Timnateo, porque le quitó su mujer y la dió á su compañero. Y vinieron los Filisteos, y quemaron á fuego á ella y á su padre.
Then the Philistines said, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson, the son in law of the Timnite, because he had taken his wife, and given her to his companion. And the Philistines came up, and burnt her and her father with fire.
Then the Philistines said, “Who has done this?” They said, “Samson, the son-in-law of the Timnite, because he has taken his wife and given her to his companion.” The Philistines came up, and burned her and her father with fire.
«Ahora se hará sentir nuevamente mi venganza» —juró Sansón.
Entonces Samsón les dijo: ¿Así lo habíais de hacer? mas yo me vengaré de vosotros, y después cesaré.
And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be avenged of you, and after that I will cease.
Samson said to them, “If you behave like this, surely I will take revenge on you, and after that I will cease.”
Acto seguido, los atacó con furia y mató a muchos de ellos. Luego se fue a vivir en una caverna en la roca de Etam.
E hiriólos pierna y muslo con gran mortandad; y descendió, y fijóse en la cueva de la peña de Etam.
And he smote them hip and thigh with a great slaughter: and he went down and dwelt in the top of the rock Etam.

Los filisteos a su vez subieron a acampar en Judá e incursionaron sobre Lehí.
Y los Filisteos subieron y pusieron campo en Judá, y tendiéronse por Lehi.

―¿Por qué han venido aquí? —preguntaron los hombres de Judá. Y los filisteos respondieron: ―A capturar a Sansón y a hacerle lo que él nos ha hecho a nosotros.
Y los varones de Judá les dijeron: ¿Por qué habéis subido contra nosotros? Y ellos respondieron: A prender á Samsón hemos subido, para hacerle como él nos ha hecho.
And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up against us? And they answered, To bind Samson are we come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.
The men of Judah said, “Why have you come up against us?” They said, “We have come up to bind Samson, to do to him as he has done to us.”
Tres mil hombres de Judá fueron a buscar a Sansón a la cueva que está en la roca de Etam. ―¿Qué es lo que nos estás haciendo? —le preguntaron—. ¿No comprendes que los filisteos son los que nos gobiernan? Pero Sansón respondió: ―Solamente les pagué por lo que me hicieron.
Y vinieron tres mil hombres de Judá á la cueva de la peña de Etam, y dijeron á Samsón: ¿No sabes tú que los Filisteos dominan sobre nosotros? ¿por qué nos has hecho esto? Y él les respondió: Yo les he hecho como ellos me hicieron.
Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cave in Etam’s rock, and said to Samson, “Don’t you know that the Philistines are rulers over us? What then is this that you have done to us?” He said to them, “As they did to me, so I have done to them.”
―Hemos venido a capturarte y entregarte a los filisteos —dijeron los hombres de Judá. ―Muy bien —dijo Sansón—, pero prométanme que no me matarán ustedes. ―No —le respondieron—, no haremos tal cosa. Lo ataron con dos cuerdas nuevas y se lo llevaron.
Ellos entonces le dijeron: Nosotros hemos venido para prenderte, y entregarte en mano de los Filisteos. Y Samsón les respondió: Juradme que vosotros no me mataréis.
And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
They said to him, “We have come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines.” Samson said to them, “Swear to me that you will not attack me yourselves.”

Y ellos le respondieron, diciendo: No, solamente te prenderemos, y te entregaremos en sus manos; mas no te mataremos. Entonces le ataron con dos cuerdas nuevas, é hiciéronle venir de la peña.
And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand: but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.
They spoke to him, saying, “No, but we will bind you securely and deliver you into their hands; but surely we will not kill you.” They bound him with two new ropes, and brought him up from the rock.
Cuando Sansón y sus captores llegaron a Lehí, los filisteos gritaron de alegría. Pero el Espíritu del Señor vino sobre Sansón y las cuerdas con que estaba atado se rompieron como hilos y cayeron de sus muñecas.
Y así que vino hasta Lehi, los Filisteos le salieron á recibir con algazara: y el espíritu de Jehová cayó sobre él, y las cuerdas que estaban en sus brazos se tornaron como lino quemado con fuego, y las ataduras se cayeron de sus manos.
And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted as they met him. Then the LORD’s Spirit came mightily on him, and the ropes that were on his arms became as flax that was burned with fire; and his bands dropped from off his hands.
Entonces tomó una quijada de burro que estaba en el suelo y mató a mil filisteos con ella.
Y hallando una quijada de asno fresca, extendió la mano y tomóla, é hirió con ella á mil hombres.
And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, put out his hand, took it, and struck a thousand men with it.
Mientras arrojaba la quijada dijo: «Con una quijada de burro he hecho montón y montones. Con una quijada de burro he batido a mil hombres». El lugar fue llamado Ramat Lehí (Colina de la quijada).
Entonces Samsón dijo: con la quijada de un asno, un montón, dos montones; con la quijada de un asno herí mil hombres.
And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
Samson said, “With the jawbone of a donkey, heaps on heaps; with the jawbone of a donkey I have struck a thousand men.”

Y acabando de hablar, echó de su mano la quijada, y llamó á aquel lugar Ramath-lehi.
And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramath-lehi.
When he had finished speaking, he threw the jawbone out of his hand; and that place was called Ramath Lehi.
Como tuvo sed, oró al Señor: ―Le has dado a Israel una maravillosa liberación por medio de mí en este día, ¿debo ahora morir de sed y quedar a merced de estos filisteos?
Y teniendo gran sed, clamó luego á Jehová, y dijo: Tú has dado esta gran salud por mano de tu siervo: ¿y moriré yo ahora de sed, y caeré en mano de los incircuncisos?
And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
He was very thirsty, and called on the LORD and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of your servant; and now shall I die of thirst, and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?”
Entonces el Señor hizo que brotara agua del suelo y Sansón recobró fuerzas mientras bebía. Entonces puso al lugar el nombre de Enacoré (Fuente del que clamó), y allí está todavía aquel manantial.
Entonces quebró Dios una muela que estaba en la quijada, y salieron de allí aguas, y bebió, y recobró su espíritu, y reanimóse. Por tanto llamó su nombre de aquel lugar, En-haccore, el cual es en Lehi, hasta hoy.
But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof En-hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
But God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out of it. When he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived. Therefore its name was called En Hakkore, which is in Lehi, to this day.
Durante los veinte años siguientes, Sansón gobernó a Israel, pero los filisteos todavía dominaban el país.
